GM Warning for 'Offensive Language', No actual reason given

I'm meant for only public chats. If its such an issue and against Tos then maybe I shouldn't be able to use the f bomb in the middle of a raid or in the middle of limsa lominsa.

We remind our FC often to only engage players they know within linkshells and our own FC. Since TOS violations seem to be up to an individual GM's discretion now, it's not worth the risk. I'd like to remind everyone that there is STILL no appeal process other than "go cry on the forums" and now we're reaching a Big Brother situation where you have to Do What We Say, Or Else. I can't believe OP isn't getting told explicitly what he said that was reported. Why is he expected to second guess his conversations with others?

These obscure rules and extremely limited cross world linkshells are forcing players to create communities on discord. I hate the "treat me like a special snowflake or I'll report you" mentality this game now has. It's getting worse and worse.

Which would be the better option - having a forced profanity filter that you can't remove, or simply having people use some judgement for when and where they drop some f bombs?

In another game I play, the profanity filter is so broken that it tends to bleep words ending in "-ing". Even the Publisher name gets bleeped. :X It amused me greatly as that particular game lets just about anything fly in the public chat, but the chat filter was trying to protect us from basic grammar.

Listen, do I actually think we should have a permanent profanity filter? No. I am making these statements as a way to mock how vague the rule is. It says all profanity is against the ToS. If that is the case, then perhaps some of their in game designs should reflect their rules. While you are correct judgment should come into play and I shouldn't be able to cuss someone out in mid raid, but the opposite should be true and me using profanity in a mundane sense should never lead me to getting a warning. Of course they have it vague so they can do a case by case basis. But I don't know what will set off Furry McMittens at the same time. Will me making the joke, 'Lb the ho*' lead me to the dark dungeon of a GM cell bc Furry McMittens thought my language was too graphic and demeaning to women? I don't know. All I know is I am mocking the rule and you are taking me too seriously.

You can't silence me!

GM can't tell you anything because there is no objective standard. If the other player find it offensive and the GM happens to agree you are out of luck, it's fair? I don't think so because there are quite a few drama queens playing this game or wannabe "hero" that are going to offend on behalf of others.

My tip is to treat anyone you don't know like an easily offended player. No fun, no banter, add the word please to everything and no unsolicited advice (even if you are the nicest person in the universe).
