Aymeric th- wait, no, I love Aymeric. It's that little tumor that hangs around him all the time rubbernecking that gets my goat. What was its name... Lucia I think it was.

Alphinaud and Alisae get close second billing during most of ARR and HW, but at least they got better in SB.

Minfillia is always going to be a low-level simmering hatesink for me.

Lyse - she started out strong...but then she started all that talk about HER homeland, and pushing her beliefs on the Ala Mihgans who have suffered under Imperial rule. Several times I wanted to reach into my screen and slap some sense into her.

Conrad himself warned her especially of the children, those who knew nothing but the Garlean occupation. Those would be the toughest to deal with--yet there Lyse is, mouthing off to Fordola "You don't get to talk about freedom!!!! MONSTER!!!!" (note: I don't condone what Fordola did either, but I CAN see the mindset that forced her to take this position, especially from the flashbacks in 4.1). I don't feel Lyse is in a position to mouth off to Fordola or the other young generation like that, since she had the privilege of being snuck away to safer lands under her sister's wing. I think Wicar said it best in Gyr Abanna. "You weren't there, Lyse. You weren't!"

On paper yes, she was born in Ala Mihgo, but she escaped at 5 years old. She knows little to nothing (until recently after the events of 2.5) of the actual way of life for these people, and the choices they had to make. She's just too idealistic and condescending. I almost wish they had just left her as "Yda". From Yda's angle, the passion and the will to fight would be much more believable, as she was older and aware of their life under oppression.

And I won't even start on the way she was designed. Yes I'm aware her "Yda" design was straight from 1.0 when they didn't have female highlanders but...with her costume change for 4.0, they could have given her an edgier look -- like you know, the people of her homeland? Instead they give her bright fluffy perfect long blonde hair, rosy cheeks and the perfect complexion. Gotta fill that waifu quota I guess!


Alphinaud - The devs must have a hardon for him, as they keep him in the spotlight for THREE major storylines: 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0. Not even Alisae has had this privilege!

I get it, he grew as a character, but he's old, boring, and still a bit of a condescending jerk.

Minfilia - useless dolled up clown. The devs really went out of their way to give her a waifu look. What was even more annoying is what most people have already said --- useless desk figure sending you on random fetch quests (to infuse materia into a dagger that she never uses) and getting herself kidnapped.

To be fair, in the later arks where she became the Word of the Mother, I felt like I come somewhat come to respect her. I suppose all the useless standing around eventually built up to her grand-finale sacrifice moment. Lol.

Lucia and Fordola are the only notable exceptions, but one, despite being the right hand to one of the central characters of Heavensward is given very little screen time and the other is raising death flags left and right. IMO, it's only a matter of time before SE finds an excuse to kill Fordola. Merlwyb is an exception too to be fair, but SE likes to pretend she doesn't exist.

But I digress, let's list at the non-cutesy characters shall we? Ysayle and Moenbryda. Go ahead and guess what these two have in common.

You put Yotsuyu as Waifu material?? Makes me quesiton if you know what waifu material is. Cause Yotsuyu is what one would call a Black widow; You dont eat or drink anything she hands you, you don't go into a dark place with her and you for sure dont fall asleep near her. lol

Much as I agree with the Alphinaud hate, I also recognize he is effectively the player's "voice." Being the silent protagonist, we're mostly just tagging along, mostly just standing there looking pretty while important matters are discussed, mostly just the muscle sent out while everyone gets stuff done.
