FFXIV is becoming a grind fest with little enjoyment.

The training arena is actually a good investment, since it's likely the closest we will come to having a pseudo-parser introduced. People wanting to improve now have an avenue that does not involve endless trial and error in dungeons. For the less confident lot, that's a huge weight off their shoulders. They can practice before grouping. Unlike Diadem and LoV, this directly helps the core content of the game.

Look at the sheer scale of Verminion. In order to make it as complex and designed as they did required several weeks of development. Basically, they seemingly spent a lot of 3.1 just building this one mini-game. That's why people are complaining about it.

It wasn't at all complex, even competitive Pokémon battles are more complex than Verminion. Like I have said, I doubt it took a lot of time and resources than Void Ark and Diadem because most of it is already there and copy paste. Yes it's not a good game, and it's not a game worth the investment. People might as well say the entire Gold Saucer is, too.

The systems had to be created from scratch, and may have even furthered the delay of the addon API. That along with the attributes of each and every minion. The battle area also didn't exist before that time, the one in the April Fools joke was the Wolves' Den, it was an entirely new concept for the game that they had to design from scratch as with The Diadem. Whereas Void Ark is something they've done 3 times before, countless times if you count other battle instances.

The attributes are something easy to apply, and I guess I could give you on the system and the arena but both Diadem and Void Ark have larger and detailed environment, not to mention the bosses, MSQ parts and cutscenes of Void Ark, and the rewards you get from both, they've put more effort in it. Yes, battle instances and mechanics are recycled, just like how Verminion recycled the minions and their abilities.

To me that's the ultimate slap in the face as a customer. It gives off the vibe that the Devs think the core gameplay is flawless and all they have left to work on is extra stuff that has nothing to do with the main RPG experience.

To me mmo's are GAMES before they are online social experiences. Therefore FFXIV is an RPG first. In an RPG you are give choice, and FREEDOM to define your character. A lot of japanese lightRPGs don't really let you do this, but many FF titles let you choose your classes, and even gave you some level of multi-classing. That's probably why Final Fantasy was SO MUCH MORE popular in the west compared to other RPGs from Japan. Because the west is (was) more accustomed to traditional p&pRPGs and cRPGs.

Something to consider with Verminion being "wasted" developer time; The guys that work on Gold Saucer don't work on Alexander, having no Verminion doesn't mean we'd have better combat content, because the people working on Verminion would never have been working on such content anyway. In the past they've made it apparent that they have different teams working on things.

That said, there is an argument that Verminion took away from Housing, because in the past they've stated that the team working on Housing is "busy on Gold Saucer"... So, new Wards, Ishgard area, Apartments, increased furniture space, etc., all on the back burner for Verminion.

IMO 2.0 was good bcoz Yoshida made his game, 3.0 is bad bcoz Yoshida made your game!

I read this forum frequently, there were many suggestions, eventually were implemented in other ways into this game after a long period.
For those almost every ppl blamed new contents, I can associate them with some idea/concept/suggestion/advice from some old thread.
To be honest, I never angry with the Dev. but I just think myself is innoncent and do not deserve these results. ^^;

By their admission , they have taken away resources/time from other content (which is why we're getting one less expert dungeon, shorter MSQ, no MSQ primal, etc) to bring more/different content like Diadem and LoV.

It's not that they think the core game is flawless, but likely believe people will want different things to do. To quote a horrible EA line, they're trying to appeal to a "broader audience." Now there is merit to that approach, especially in a game expressly designed for more casual players. What I feel became an issue for people is less Verminion itself and more it was essentially all we got after a lengthily delay. For those already struggling to find more content, this exasperated the problem for them, as they now knew it would be at least another three months before any new raids/trials would be released. If Verminion came out as a side along to what is being promised in 3.2, I doubt you'd hear as many complaints because it would be considered tertiary content instead of the main course. On the bright side, the devs do seem aware of this misstep and look to be offering a lot more, even if 3.2 is PvP focused.

LoV may or may not have taken as much resources as the Diadem, we'll never know, but there's no denying that it took a substantial amount of developing time to design. It's not comparable to battle instances in a way though, as they said they have plenty of staff that are capable of designing content, but very little staff that are capable of designing raid content. If only they hired English developers, they could hire all the laid off Wildstar raid designers. Say what you will about that game, but their instances are amazing.

But regardless, I did get a little annoyed after seeing how much of a flop LoV was. They claimed that the addon API, something we've been promised for a very long time now was delayed due to the UI additions with Heavesnward, so what do they do next? You'd think the addon API, but no, Lords of Verminion.
