I actually wrote that post about repair condition before I saw that you brought it up; I wasn't trying to contradict you. It is still possible that the condition has some effect on the exploration, and it's also possible that the weather has an effect on the condition (either one could be true with or without the other).

Yes, but the message appeared after it said changing course to sector 04. Maybe it appears at the end instead of the beginning? If so, the message is misleading... Now that you mention it, yeah, I'm starting to think that I misreported that. Maybe when it goes something like

<sector 02 rating>
<timestamp>
Changing Course to Sector 04
Sector 05 discovered!
<sector 04 report>

it actually means you discovered Sector 05 in Sector 02, it's just putting the message in a confusing spot. Or maybe it's because you changed course from 02 toward 04? I think I'll amend the airship log to better mark where a new sector is found...

Also, I'll remove from the spreadsheet the "second item found" thing. If you found a second item, fill out the second item section. If not, don't. It seems there is always a second item, but sometimes you do get it and sometimes you don't. I have never seen a case where there was no second item found.

For 99% of my posts, I write up the post, ctrl-a, ctrl-x, then actually post "asdfasdfasdf" <_< then edit, ctrl-a, ctrl-v, save. I'm just waiting for the day someone catches me in the middle of that and replies to my "asdfasdfasdf" post xD Sometimes, I post "placeholder" instead, which is just long enough to count, and less embarrassing if someone actually sees it.

Bonzai, could you check your records for the voyage recorded on line 19 of the spreadsheet? Is your rating for your trip to Sector 05 correctly reported as Substandard, or was it actually Abysmal? Abysmal makes the exp formula match your reported exp, but Substandard makes it not equal the calculated value.

If that's reported correctly, then there's something up with the exp formula...

Line 11's trip to Sector 02 is also potentially off (I think it should be Satisfactory, rather than Decent), but I don't think you entered that one.


I think I'll leave the exp field in place, so I can use the exp field as a sort of checksum to check for typos in the report. However, I think I'll split out the base and bonus so people don't have to do that annoying math thing.

It's funny you should ask because I actually wondered if I might have made a data entry error for sector 02 of that trip. You can see I got a high and a normal rating for sector 2 but an overall abysmal rating, and it seems like it should have been substandard. But it sounds like maybe you've found that my reported exp is too high, and for that I don't have an explanation XD (would it fit if 02's rating was actually substandard?)

Since I don't have screenshots for that day, only what I entered into my original spreadsheet, I can't be sure. I'd take the exp value as the more valid one, chances are I just got mixed up on the sector rating. Either way we might want to exclude that line from analysis.

You are right, I didn't enter that one, so I can't be sure. Having that validity check might be a good idea!

I'm not sure if you saw before but I requested a column to enter the airship name. It would be helpful for me for keeping track of which ones are mine and it might also help us in analysis if we wish to narrow something down to just one airship's progress.

Our FC airship made a very good trip this time but it was rated as C

Route was 5->6->3, all invinsible parts except forecastle which was enterprise

It discovered sectors 7 and 11 ^^

And brought 4 kinds of materia, a dozen of each kind, and 20 platinum ores.


Rank 21 now, no option for 2nd airship yet

Ah! The secrets to the long posts comes out! Now that I know this I’ll be able to condense my posts. I was starting to get frustrated with the 1000 character limit as well.

This will definitely help get us more info on condition affecting what we can or cannot gather due to that statement.

I was thinking something simple like record the % before sending out, record condition upon return and note what winds the ship saw. If I do this twice and get different % drops with different winds OR get the same % drop with different winds then I think we’ll have the answer to whether the wind affects condition drop? (Basically, if I get a linear drop with different wind conditions, it’s likely just the act of sending it out vs different drops from different winds)
