Deep Dungeon 11-20 with me as scholar. The whole party was 2 scholars, an astrologician, and a dark knight. People got complacent because it's basically 4 DPSers running the easier floors, and ignore the lone palace slime amongst a whole room of monsters that the tank pulled (understandable, considering the party comp.). Some-odd seconds later, *BOOM!* instant wipe. This is really turning into the not-quite-so-awesome way to level up. :mad:

Trial not dungeon, but finally completed Garuda EX last night... so looooooong.
Queue itself was a good hour, which I kind of expected but still.
Anyway, we load in, i'm playing my BRD main, one of the tanks was new and asked for strat twice but the other tank pulled before anyone could say anything... (I also didn't have my keyboard plugged in at the time so couldn't type the little tips that I do know)
So just ran in, started singing foes for my bf (SMN) and the healers if/when they can DPS and started hitting Garuda. All was going well until the tank that pulled early tanked everything together... one healer was asking the new tank to try to get Chirada over to the other side of the area (they had put down "A" & "B" marks so they could see where to go) but either they couldn't get the aggro or something, 1st wipe.
2nd try, Healer who was trying to explain asks the tank who pulled early last time to wait while they explain a little. So this time the tanks manage to split Chriada over to one side with Sparna and Garuda on the other. But then... spiny one shotted... 2nd wipe.
3rd try. Got to spiny again, I marked as ignore, still went down. 3rd wipe...
By this point I was a bit tired but after that queue I wasn't giving up! ^^ 4th try, 1st time people realised not to hit spiny and we got past 1st phase, but same story the next time it turned up. I'm sure a lot of you have had the same experience watching the spiny feather's health drop just like "no... no?! why?! who's still hitting it?!"
We must've run about 10 times, but we finally cleared it! So... success??
Also decided to try Sephirot (I know i'm really behind >.<), loaded in, said I was new to this one, everyone left... Not actually had this happen to me before although i've read about it a lot on here, I didn't expect it at all! If they'd waited a second I could have told them, "watched a vid so know the basics" and if they'd checked my gear they'd know i'm well over geared for Sephirot NM...
We waited around for ages, eventually had 2 tanks, full DPS and one healer, so we tried to do with just us... massive fail, but at least now i'd seen him in action.
Waited a little longer, one of the DPS left and came back as a healer (they got my comm for being a good sport :) ), 1 more wipe but 3rd time was the charm and we completed. Bf want's to try EX next... but i'm gonna have to do all the EXs first I think before I even attempt that. I learn better from actually playing the battle and don't want to inflict that on DF, need to find me some more FFXIV friends :(

Second try, it landed me in Toto-Rak. With a DRK, a LNC, and an ACN. Note that neither myself nor the DPS have an AoE of any sort, unless we wanted to cross-class something, and since I only had 2 cross-class slots, I didn't.
This DRK insisted on doing pulls of 4-6 mobs for the first half of the dungeon.
Now, I've mentioned this before, but I have all 3 healer jobs at 60. As SCH, I have an ilvl of 221. Could I heal through these pulls? Of course I could. I could do it in my sleep, even. That, however, would cut into my time spent DPSing, and I see no point in healing a dungeon that my fairy could easily solo-heal.
I also see no point in doing huge pulls when neither the DPS nor the healer have any sort of AoE skills available. The DRK tried to justify this with "i have aoe". That they barely used, and seemingly only to establish aggro.
I'm aware that this isn't a popular stance to take, but months ago I swore to myself that I wouldn't carry idiots and do their jobs for them. Hence, except for the occasional Physick during bosses and while switching fairies, I refused to heal them, and let Eos handle it, no matter how big they tried to make the pull. They only died once, during the second big pull, so props to Eos for that. -

A FC mate (MCH) joined my wife(SMN) and myself (SCH) for a full run of PotD. Mostly, we were lucky and got people that worked well with us. This one AST, however, must have had a hot date to get to, because he blitzed into rooms well ahead of us. He was aggroing mobs and looting chests when we were still a full room back and fighting mobs. I get it, PotD is easy mode compared to a lot of endgame content, and I'm sure it can get boring after the first twenty times you've gone through, but you signed up to play with a party, so play with the party. If you want to play solo speedrunner, knock yourself out and enter solo, but don't ruin other people's play experiences when it's obvious that they're not tagging along behind you. We didn't kick the guy, but all three of us were annoyed and stressed by his leaving, collecting mobs, and coming back.

It's a community problem. If we as the community persistently kicked people who sign up for a language they don't speak, people would stop doing it, since it wouldn't be faster anymore (on the contrary, they wouldn't get any content done at all anymore).

Reset day is Weeping City day! ...you know the deal. Well, I actually don't wanna talk about today's run, just lemme tell you we wiped six times on Ozma. One wipe was the fault of my group's tank and myself: we both got a meteor and ran left at the same time, when I noticed that, I ran back - unfortunately the tank had the same thought and ran back too xD For this, someone wanted to report me for trolling - they told me this while they were getting themselves locked out from the fight on purpose after they said they wanna get kicked. One wipe later they participated again and after we finally killed Ozma, they told me sorry for being an idiot and left o.o

The first one took over 4 minutes to kill just the first group of crocodiles so I "asked the stars" to see that, well, DMG in that group was basically non-existant. When we reached the first boss, so many people died. It's not like that made me think "Great, now I can slack off too" or anyting. I actually wanted to be even better than normal to carry other's weight too!

The next party was absolutely amazing though, and "the stars told me" that I was doing really really great as well. Not one mess-up, dmg was out the window..
In the end that just left me wondering how I could play so differently in the same content just depending on the party .-.
Thought maybe it was a fluke :confused:
But today, exactly the same thing happened xD
Is anyone else also so..idk, easy to influence or am I just weird? :cool: -

There was a glamoured naked Roe in the group - It was the last boss, waiting for a cutsceens/etc... so I decided to take all my clothes off and dance around him. (Naturally)
Tank pulled, my off healer DCed and I was nekkid. Not much to heal when you have a good group - but still felt like an idiot caught with my pants down. :|

Did The Aery as BRD. The tank and BLM came in together, judging by the fact that they had the same last name. During a group of trash, the tank proceeded to kite the mobs around because she was "trying to stay out of range." After pointing out that she was, in fact, a tank (a melee one at that), she laughed and continued to kite the mobs around. The healer was having a very hard time with this (myself included - Wanderer's Minuet + a kiting tank = bad combination*) and eventually gave up, which wiped the group.
* I did eventually take it off, but that was right before we wiped.
After this, the BLM managed to do a total of 32 dps. The most she ever did was a whopping 70. The tank, surprisingly, kept still.
For the second boss, the BLM ended up dying twice (32 dps on the Chyme isn't going to cut it). We get to the final boss, she says she's going to die a lot because her "gear is badly damaged." Okay. She was, however, correct about her deaths because she died a grand total of four times because she stood in everything. -

To read tooltips and mission objectives and such. It would really be nice if we got some more language options into the game, just for the sake of accessibility. Ive ran this multiple times but....
Its very frustrating when your doing a 24 man raid and
- the tank itself is all over the place and squishy as fk (drk)
(Not to mention tanking smack in the middle during the sphere boss)
- then you get blamed for killing the tank, which is understandable in circumstances BUT...
- the other healer keeps on dying
- the other healer bitches as tho im expected to solo heal (hes not DDing)
- I am NOT going to individual heal when everyones HP is at half point... no shit i will helios. Its like everyone decided to run into a aoe all at once.
Im taking care of the whole partys HP, the other healer bitching that the tanks dying, and I'm like..... wtf are you doing??? cheerleading???? How the hell are you running out of mana when im spamming the spell that uses the most mana????

Did WC and had an interesting run. I entered an in progress and we were at Forgall. It seemed like EVERY Healer had just entered from the look of things as we were all running together to Forgall. Overall, the run went well. No raid wipes, but lots of close calls. Got to give props to my co-healer though, they did amazing. I think his name was Kou. Like I said though, we never wiped... but I think the only reason for that would be due to the good heals happening all around. Cause people were getting hit by all the AoEs xD
I probably did a good dozen revives on just Forgall. My MP was seriously strained. Especially when I accidentally missed a green goo pool during a megadeath (I tried to get that last bit of my manual raise in and missed it by a second T_T). Will admit, our MT did die once or twice though. I didn't notice our tank took over as MT and I wasn't prepared with a heal after hellwind in time. Auto attack murder ftw. At the end, at least half the raid was on the ground, but we passed.
Next up, Ozma. Same thing here, the healing was on point, the D(er)PS seemed to like standing where they shouldn't. A few people in our alliance kept dying to some things, but overall, our group stayed alive just fine. But the other alliances weren't fairing so well. My co heal and I kept running over to res their healers. Same story, got through, but at least half the raid group was tanking the floor real hard at that point.
So now we're at Calofisteri. I don't know who... but someone pulled VERY early. Like, the half of our raid group that died were not back yet early. Luckily, my entire alliance was there, but B and C alliance were not. I think we had about 14 people there when the person pulled... You could see everyone hesitate too. Some attacked, some were standing near the gate deciding what they should do. I stood near it, but after a bit, it looked like majority went for it (which included my entire alliance) so I went in as well. Obviously.... this is not the way you should do it. Things were going fine at first, but when the orbs came, chaos ensued. I could tell there were new people as I watched them get murdered by the beams that come down and as they proceeded to try running away last second and get everyone else hit in the process. On top of that, 3 small orbs weren't killed in time. Somehow, we got all the larger orbs, but probably because people were ignoring the small orbs. *Sigh*
When I saw that some orbs went off, I just knew bad things were to follow. So I started putting stoneskins on people (it was a good choice). Anyways, things continue, more chaos ensues. At one point, I was the only one left alive in my alliance with about 6 other people from other alliances. My tank kept yelling at me to use the lb3 in the party chat. I tried to get it off 3 times before he said anything, but had to cancel to avoid mechanics. As I had to explain to them, me dying means I can't get lb3 off and won't do us any good. Had to avoid a haircut, and penetration. I took a depth charge to the face, but did get lb3 off at a good time. It was a very long fight, but we did get through it.
Once again, props to my co-healer. He did amazing and I can't even count how many raises he gave to the other alliances while I kept our alliance healed up. -

Last week, met a Paladin who told me not to DPS as a Healer (their aggro management was atrocious and our two DPS were half-asleep). The run itself (Haukke Manor) took over an hour, most of it due to tank stopping to type out nonsensical rants which they believed were correct because 'I have a level 60 [insert class here], I know what I'm talking about', while they proceed to fail at what they were currently playing. Easier to blame a Healer than to up your own game I suppose.
Yesterday, met a Paladin in Haukke AGAIN who spammed comboless "RoHalone" only. Poor guy had that lovely sapling icon, which I have no problem with, but seeing as they failed to notice that everyone BUT the tank was getting aggro every pull, I hoped they had no problem with feedback. They didn't listen, and I couldn't bear the thought of another 60min Haukke Manor (we wiped immediately after I mentioned the lack of combo'ing).
Typical day in normal PuG dungeons, really. -

got titan normal mode today as trial roulette and actually had more fun than ever in this game.
First tank falls off the platform, but not because he was bad, just underestimated the platform size. So we decided to just start over.
Next pull, dps falls off the platform, healer followed so we wipe again.
Another pull and at around 25% tank dc's, healer was already out of mp trying to keep the other dps alive since he was never in medica range.
Spam healing me on my blm because blm tanking at lvl 34 never a good idea, we then finally manage to kill it.
I know a lot of people would have rage quit already or kick players, but to be honest it was funny and everybody was very polite about it. Not that I wanted to do titan normal mode 3 times but hey it was fun, so all good at the end. Shout out to that group this morning. -

Actually had a lovely run of Brayflox last night :)
Levelling roulette on WHM (lvl 56 >.<), got newbie tank, NIN (who I think was also kinda new but didn't say much) & BLM. Tank lets us know he's new and would appreciate any advice, so I marked targets for him as we went, showed him the side "rooms" etc (& let him know he doesn't need to do them on every run) etc.
Got to the big room with all the pugils and efts and the BLM d/cs. So we wait 5 mins in case they're actually gonna come back but then assumed we offended them somehow and kicked (I hope it was just that they wanted to leave...?).
Got another NIN almost straight away, joked there'd be daggers everywhere, they're a mentor so they do some explaining too. I carry on marking for the tank (thinking about it now I should have let them know I was doing that and they might find it easier if they do this in future but forgot :() and we clear in good time :) he totally got the idea for moving the dragon out of his poison pools etc and I asked the DPS to try to stand near each other &/or me so there weren't pools errrrrywhere to make it smoother.
Lovely run :) needless to say the tank got my comm for doing well on their first run of Brayflox as a tank, although it was close with the 1st NIN who spoke up a bit more in the 2nd half of the dungeon and was obviously trying their best too. I wish we could comm everyone on awesome runs. -

Why do people think rushing in deep dungeon is the best way to play? Skipping mobs and only going for a chest? Cause that's NOT the best way honestly. It's like people think not being 60 BEFORE you hit floor 41 is a good thing. No wonder people complain about not getting upgrades.. THEY KEEP SKIPPING ALL THE MOBS. People need to understand that the faster you hit 60 the more chances you have at upgrading your gear on the later floors. And sidenote... if you're skipping mobs cause you don't have time.. here's a small thought. DON'T QUE UP. Wait until you I don't know.. have time to actually play the game?
Edit. I'm not saying I'm perfect either. I've qued for a dungeon and had it run past my time to do something else, but here's the thing tho. I took the hit and didn't make my party rush cause I qued at the final hour. Just wanted to add that as it's one thing if you run out of time, it's another when you're forcing everyone else to rush cause you can't manage time. -

Had two vastly different Weeping City runs today.
The first one.
First boss: 2 of the 3 webs were placed directly in the middle. Several people stood on them and died. The rest of us ran to the only safe one on the far side. Thankfully, we managed to kill the boss without a wipe.
Second Boss: One group wipes and our group only has 3 people alive. Me, the tank, and a BLM. The other healer says "alliance C wiped so we should just start over".
No thank you. I raise the healer and then raise one of Alliance C's healers. We work together to revive our fallen team members and kill the boss.
Third boss: Half the raid gets Assimilated. The co-healer jumps over the edge dodging a mechanic. Alliance C wipes again. I raise one of the healers, who raises the tank. Amazingly, no wipe.
Final boss: I notice both of alliance C's healers are down again, so I bring them up. Alliance C doesn't wipe this time.
Only got 1 commendation.
Second run:
2 people in our alliance are new. But both do fairly well considering it's their first time.
My co-healer is doing extremely well healing. But maybe too well. Only using healing spells and a lot of Stoneskin. But our group's DPS is so good, it doesn't really bother me. Things are going really fast. I have tons of time to DPS.
Do some revives and got thanked a lot by the newcommers. I even got thanked for dispelling Doom on the 2nd boss. (I guess there is a first time for everything.)
Healer and I are splitting revives and it all goes so smooth.
However, all in all, the other healer did a lot more healing than I did.
I got 5 commendations, but I feel a little bad because the other healer was healing a lot more than me. But at least I gave him mine. -

Quests all have map markers anyway. I've played ROMs in Japanese without even knowing the alphabet.Quote:
