Well, Ricky is nearly BiS already with all of the crafted gear he has. That explains it to be honest with you.
could be that 120->130 for a caster is equal or better than 125->130 for a melee
Our SMN needed the weapon to push up her HP for T13
I mean, you got 1 weapon damage, 7 str and 50 skillspeed over me and I got like 110 det over you.
think that means I got like 10 str over you.
That and the ninja might account for it and you might also be missing dps somewhere.
If you got a video or something, that might help.
I'll record next clear. Huge dps loss is phase transitions, I stop attacking kind of early so I don't die to the middle aoe when adds come out and when we kill the sphere, the egg is on the other side. If our jump animation goes through the middle section where kaliya is, do we die? I never tried it hehe
How much dps should i be doing with my current gear? I currently get around 485 with party buff. Is that acceptable?

You and I are similarly geared. You're inline with what you should be pulling for your gear. With food, you should see yourself creeping to just under 500.
I understand how this works on a dummy, and yes it does increase dps however so slightly, but in an actually fight where there are temporary dps pauses, switching to adds etc. does it really still hold true or should we just wait until FT? this will obviously be extremely circumstantial, but are there any general rules ppl follow?
Also on a side note, i have taken to holding my 2nd LS until my FT + BFB because around this time my ninja is putting up trick attack
"The Dragoons Ascent: Knights of Ebon Mail" sounds cool. Or something about how we're taming those bloody Dragons everyone and their grandmother is gunna have in the expansion.
It still holds true no matter what. You should be quick with the add transitions, that's what Spineshatter Dive, Dragonfire Dive and Elusive Jump are for. But other then that, it all comes down to your own intuitive playing the Job, as well as the current situation you're in. There are times were you're absolutely better off restarting from scratch rather than just continuing trying to manage your cooldowns. Breaks like that can mess-up cooldown management and if you're not careful may end-up with you having a DPS loss in the long run. Other times, you may have to adjust your cooldowns to suit your party match-up to have an increase of DPS - like holding BFB + LS so it's timed with your Ninja's TA.
The next part is knowning when to pop your cooldowns. If you're about to transition into a Phase Change and there's a "pause" during that transition, then you should not be using cooldowns leading up to it. That way you all of your CDs are back up so can restart your burst from scratch the second the new Phase starts.
The only person who can really answer a question that broad is yourself I'm afraid.

Just like tanks have to prime up their bigger threat holding moves, as a DPS you should prep up the correct rotation for an ADD depending on the situation. Most of the times I time it up right to have the first attack in my rotation as soon as I switch to a new target to be Disembowel which immediately helps my bard and gets the DOTS up ASAP.
To excel at dragoon, that sort of forward planning is important due to how long it takes to finish your combo.
If you're just winging it, though, Phlebotomize is no slouch....
hmmm, well my biggest question is when the rotation gets reset due to switching to an add to apply the debuffs. ive already adpoted a kinda of idea of what to do in these sitations in my head. mostly just curious how others have changed/adapted the use of LS if you are restarting combo, the point of alternating between CT + FT is that it lines up perfectly, but if an add switch causes you to do LS with CT twice in a row, it wont be a dps gain anymore
It'll still be a PPS gain over holding it 7.4s for Full Thrust.
590 DPS, 600 DPS with good RNG @ i120 with Longinus, no food, party buff, using mercy stroke.
I got bored and decided to calc the approximate potential of i110 accessories.... They're gunna be pretty darn OP.
Hey party people. So I'm almost maxed on DRG and I want to be the most useful I can be for any party I'm in, especially my static if I decide to eventually switch over to DRG. I'm looking at this right out of the gate: http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/P30V but am STILL hearing a ton of arguments over "DET v CRIT". Now, I'm sorry if y'all have answered this 100 times but I'd really like a current, 2.45 answer on this (I don't know how much stats have changed before this but here I am). Is this acceptable gear or should I find some new stuff and look at CRIT instead? Again, sorry if this isn't the right place but I'd rather ask a bunch of skilled DRG mains than just one or two people I know.
How much dps i be doing in T9 with my gear? http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/P316
DET > CRT point per point, always. However, CRT has a much higher Item Budget, meaning you'll naturally have a much higher Crit on your gear and this will be prioritised slightly more when you're calculating gear.
Anyway. You're really, really lacking in Determination bro. There should be a balance between Determination and Crit when you're just naturally progressing and getting those Item Levels (unless you're calculating gear each week with gear solvers like I do). 280 is WAAY too low for your ilvl. It should be in the 32X mark at your item level, no less. 330-340 is were most people are.
I'd be interested in what you think of my gear Dervy.

The accuracy is low, but seeing as I haven't entered Final Coil yet it's fine for the moment (party bonus takes me up to 514 acc). I cleared T9 the other night with no misses so I think 514 is the limit. No skill speed on my gear currently either which I like. I think I may equip the HA Gloves for now, I'd lose a bit of Crit and Det but it would add enough Accuracy for the first few turns of Final Coil.
T9 accuracy is 492 I think anyway. Just pop lava toad legs HQ and you'll be at 353 accuracy for T13, so that's fine. T10 is like 492, T11 is 505 and T12 is 525? So you're right within the accuracy ranges with your gear.
The gears fine. Nice rounded Crit, 350 DET without food is impressive. I would say the belt needs to get remelded though. The 19 skillspeed meld on the Kirimu belt is what makes it BiS over the Dreadwyrm Belt. So if you do keep it as it is, it will get replaced, otherwise, remeld Max IVs.
492 is the flank cap, but in T9 you'll need to hit from the front a lot, so I use the tank accuracy cap which is 514 I believe. That's what I am basing that accuracy figure on.
I can't say I know a lot about Final Coil, but hopefully I'll only ever need to reach the flank accuracy cap. The frontal ones are very high, and I can't imagine I could reach them without using accuracy food, and I would obviously prefer to just pop a HQ Black Truffle Risotto instead to improve my DPS. As for the belt, I don't think I could afford to remeld it. Not at the moment anyway.
Same with T11 - you'll want a bit more accuracy than the flank cap, so you can still hit when Kaliya is turning.
What's your party makeup? You shouldn't need to attack from the front much at all if your party adjusts just a little. I guess if you are the only melee DPS and you group doesn't want to adjust any tactics it's alright, but if you have two melee there's no reason to stack in the front and hurt DPS to that degree. There's really no sense in forcing melee to attack from the front for an extended period in the final phase during that fight.
Funny story. I went in last night to help some FC mates get their T12 before reset so they'd at least get a shot at a treasure chest. On the kill run I parsed about 460, which I thought was a little low but aw well... what I didnt realize was before we went into the turn, I had the wrong head gear on. I was showing off my recently purchased Kabuto Helms before we went in and like an idiot, I kept the Lvl 1 Kabuto helm on instead of my i110 Penta-Melded Wootz helm!! I lost 24 str, 18 Det, 25 Crit, 6 SS, and a bunch of Acc. Although I still pulled top dmg by about 50dps... Anyone else ever do equally as stupid stuff lol?
I did a similar thing pre-T5 twister nerf was the dogs bollocks. We were doing our usual T1-4 clear, and one night we were absolutely stuck on Turn 2. We couldn't meet DPS checks and we couldn't understand how we went from one-shotting it, to meeting the enrage timer...
Guess who wasn't wearing any accessories lmao.
