Ran Bismarck for the first time and there's 4 new people in the group (all dps) including me. I watched a video beforehand but its understandable when people want to go in blind. so a new person asks about the fight and one of the healers immediately goes off about how we're gonna die and that new people suck (they were a mentor too which is even more discouraging), immediately bringing the morality down. Someone else politely explains the fight. We go in and we get to phase 2 before wiping and half the party leaves. We end up abandoning the duty. Its sad that the only mentors i meet are are immediately impatient, hate new people and leave at the drop of a hat.

Why are people trying to skip adds in Ravana ex? Why do people insist on making EVERYTHING a Sonic stage. Tell you guys what, you wanna go fast, go play Sonic Unleashed. It's fast and Sonic is a joy in that game.

Maybe like 4 of the 21 groups I've been in today have been able to actually push past the add phase which was a pleasant surprise. I was called a crybaby and told to leave by one of the tanks in one of the groups I was in because I told them it wasn't going to happen if they keep trying to skip the adds :/

Sounds like a day in the life of a ranged DPS. When I was leveling my bard, almost every dungeon I did till 50 I was out dpsing other dps and even stealing aggro from tank occasionally (while focusing main target). I got 5 or less comms from lvl 30-50.

Ignoring the adds and pushing Ravana without getting any swords is only successful with 1 healer, 1 tank, and 6 dps who know how to play their class (doesn't even need to be super amazing end game raid tier good, just know what you're doing). Months ago I made and joined a lot of bird farms on pf that could pull it off consistently, although I must admit it only takes 1 dps who clearly has no idea what they're doing for it all to fall apart. I suppose now that you can buy the whistles with 99 tokens, a lot of less skilled players are coming out of the woodwork...

Attempting it in duty finder with the 2/2/4 setup is just asking to die horribly, though.

Yeah it works really well in ravana with 1/1/6 if you got decent people.

so today i decided that, since i had gotten my war to 56, almost 57, i would run crystal tower to get the level and some 24 man experience as a tank!

i queue'd for all 3 (horrible 30 min queue time for a solo tank q-q) and i got WoD, the other 2 tanks were both PLD and i was a WAR so i was like "yo, one of you 2 can MT" and i let my party members know that it was my first time tanking the dungeon, anyways, it went pretty smooth until the cloud of darkness.

the PLD that was MT died when her health was around 60%, the other PLD took over, and died literally 15 seconds later, so i switched on defiance and took over, did pretty well until about 10-15% when all the healers and dps died died to one of her raid wide attacks because they weren't able to kill all the adds fast enough so she had stacks of dmg up, and so only me and the 2 plds are standing, i die to the next auto attack+bleed upgrade combo, then the paladins die a few moments later.

run 2 went much better, about 35% 1 of my healers notices i was still in defiance (i had forgotten to turn it off) and said "you can turn off defiance, only turn it back on if the pld dies" and i was like "oh crap, you're right, forgot it was still on" i turn it off and 5 seconds later the pld dies and i thought "well, that was useless." turned defiance on and tanked us to victory xD

Today in Copperbell, I'm convinced my party was half made of bots. My tank did nothing but run up to mobs and spammed Fast Blade on it over and over, and the archer who spammed quick nock and nothing else. Tried telling the tank to lob/flash/1-2 but nothing. Zero replies from both tank and archer, no change in play styles even after being told to flash to aggro and stuffs. You can probably imagine the sort of aggro the poor whm caught trying to heal both tank and archer in that situation.

Poor sapling healer. She was so traumatized, I had to keep telling her that this sort of run wasn't the norm >_<

Also, I don't know about you, but ignoring chat is fairly rude IMO. Especially if people are bringing to your attention about something that you've might have missed or are doing wrongly, as it was in this case.

I had the strangest run. My 17th at that in PoTD (full runs each time). I was sitting at 29/27 and since I forgot to remove the join in progress I ended up on lvl 49 last boss, and I literally mean last boss. I asked what happened and they said other player dropped not happy with drops. According to them, they had no drops from the entire 41-50 runs. I commented that I was a little sad to know that I would have to start over from 1 without having had a chance to attempt at least part of the whole run 41-50. It is my fault in the first place to be in that situation though, as I forgot to remove the *in progress* .

Here is the strange thing. We started on the last boss and she did her insta-kill type of action and we wipped. I am pretty sure the wipe happened because they didn try hard enough..either because they felt bad or because they too were not happy with the drops...but thanks to them I was able to attempt again that 41-50 and reach 29/29 on my 18th run. Did a 19th full run that brought me no upgrade..There were silver chests opened but the upgrade never applied to me, 3 silver chest opened to be exact.

Even if I cant say 100% it was on purpose, it sure saved me a few hours !!

I'm a newbie and most times I show up it is the first time I am playing the content. I have had some really bad ones - people yelling at me for being incompetent and then typing "figures" when I inform them it is my first time.

I did end up in a good group this last time that actually helped me with my technique and waited as I watched the cutscenes (didn't even realize I could skip them). Because they were kind I learned a lot and can be more productive next time. Thanks to everyone who realizes there is a person on the other side!

Behavior like that is pretty suspicious, though. Last time I suspected a bot, it was silent chat in addition to watching them clearly /following the tank, and poor skill usage. I think that was an Arcanist that never used Bane, opting instead for some other bizarre aetherflow use I couldn't quite figure out.

Well, this is it. I'm done. I quit tanking forever. I don't care if this means I'll never be a mentor, I was never going to be a mentor anyway.

What brought this on? Amdapor Keep HM, in which I was PLD. I load in, the healer is a SCH, who casts Protect. No fairy, no aetherflow. This is a lvl. 60 SCH and SMN, who doesn't have Swiftcast. I remind them to get out a fairy and put on aetherflow.

No response, so I just shrug and do the first pull. SCH promptly puts on Cleric Stance, starts DPSing, and lets my HP fall to 1.8k before finally healing me. They finally summon Eos after the first pull is dead. I go on, doing a large pull. Except that SCH is just standing back in the first room, not saying a word. I die, the DPS die, and no explanation for this crap is offered. We move on to the first boss. While I'm casting Stoneskin on myself and the DPS, because god knows this SCH can't be bothered to, the SCH casts Bio on the boss, pulling it.

At this point, I'm standing here, wondering if I'm being trolled. A DPS dies, and because this SCH doesn't have Swiftcast, they take an eternity to ress them, then get themselves killed, which leads to a wipe, of course. SCH tells me to "stop with the shit (casting Stoneskin) and move on with pulling", and that during that large pull in which I died, they were AFK, and apparently it's my fault I didn't realise someone was AFK, when nobody said a goddamn word.

After this, I'm abruptly kicked. So sure. Okay. The run can stop for this SCH to go AFK, but nobody has time for me to cast Stoneskin. And it's my fault for not being psychic.

I'm done. I am completely done. I quit tanking forever. I am not going to deal with pathetic excuses for human beings such as these, anymore. I'm done. If you've ever wondered why there are so few tanks around, having to deal with bullshit like this is why.

Swiftcast is a must for Casting Jobs later on!

You have done your Job as a Tank, that is Tanking and Trash Groups not getting away with their Focus on the Tank. It is the Job of the Healer to Heal the Tank and keeping him alive while the DPS getting the Trash Group down.
Sure things like Stance Dancing is a Bonus if you do it, if the Healer does Damage aswell that is a Bonus yet, in that case, it was just Stupid on their Side...

I have no idea what it was. Maybe it was just a hard AoE move, and we were all mid-to-low on health at the time she did it, but damn me for not even thinking to stun her before she used it. All I had to do was push one button, and that person with 30/30 could have finally gone home with a 235 weapon, and the rest of us could have maintained that ONE point we gained that run.

I can't even put into words how depressing that is. I'm using PotD to get me into the flow of just being a tank, because tanking is my weakest role.

If she gets 5 runes activated then its an auto-wipe on the next Black Honeymoon.

The way it works is that over the course of the Fight she starts chain casting In Health. Further she starts being able to cast Black Honeymoon multiple times before the runes are consumed and Black Honeymoon resets.

This can get very bad because during that stage of the fight if she uses her LoS attack to inflict hysteria on enough people... she can more or less go from 0 runes to 5 runes and auto-wipe on the next Black Honeymoon. Whats more is she always follows up the eye LoS attack with either an In Health or her teleport scythe attack into In Health.

There's no move that you can stun. If one or more players got hit by her room wide aoe (in health) without being next to her or away from her, depending on the orange indicator, the moment she casts dark harvest you get hit by a lot of dmg. You could have been full health, still would have died probably depending on how many people ignored her mechanics. Same counts for the cold feet mechanic, if you don't turn away and you get hit by hysteria, you'll end up standing in the "in health" mechanic she casts right after. If your party is to slow, you end up dodging the old tam tara hard mechanics (circles, statues etc), that move can't be stunned either.

I saw it twice, once we wiped totally but another time, the WHM and myself countered it and we finished it (bless WHM), me with sacred soil and her with the WHM skill Asylum (our healths the 3 standing went really really really low). It killed only who wasnt Inside those two (aka one BLM), we survived and finished the boss but yeah is a sort of enrage skill room wide attack, someone told me if you are being hit by 5 AOES it trickers that attack. Have yet to see the description for it. I can say, is not an insta wipe but maybe one healer alone may not be able to counter that, not sure. Our group was, two healer and two BLM and yep we finished the lvl 41-50no problem actually

Dark Harvest is her teleport, it does not inflict much damage its more for her to re-position for In Health. Black Honeymoon is the room wide unavoidable AoE that gets empowered by In Health, to auto-wipe levels at 5 runes.

Nothing to do with being console users ^^
Being ps4/3 users is no excuse to not read chat. Typing is no excuse either since there is a virtual keyboard; yes not ideal for long phrases, but a yes or no you can pull off no problem.

The potion cooldown raises as the rank of potions go up.

For example, the HQ X-Potion is 43 seconds.

I would assume they were using all their potions on cooldown, whichever types they had, but I wasn't one of the ones with Pox.

The success rate I have seen has been 0%. A flat 0. For the standard 2/2/4 setup that is. For 1/1/6 groups (which I have been in exactly one of) it has actually worked.
Oh right, I don't think I mentioned. One of the 2/2/4 groups that tried to do the Ravana burn was on NORMAL mode. With first-timers who were barely geared to get in. And that's the one where I was threatened with kicks after questioning it.

It's a Instant Wipe, it happened on my second PotD Run and isn't funny :x
Also the same is in Tam-Tara Hardmode, if those Zombies (When she cries...) enter Edda's Ground Circle, she will kill those and a Rune will lit up.
Though for the last Fifth Run to lit up, it takes 3 more Zombies and the next Attack she does will hit for 15.000 AoE Damage.

Had a fun WC yesterday. We had a new tank, so I don't blame her for not knowing everything, but nor have I known many new tanks that step up to the plate lol. 1st boss, she's MT. I was very surprised by this as she was at 22k hp, which for a tank in WC is fairly low. Looking at her gear, she was likely around ilvl 210 at most. Mix of eso gear and ex roulette gear. On the first boss, no real issues other than my panic attacks when I forgot I have to heal her more often. My co-healer seemed to have forgotten a lot as well; we both ended up using our "oh shiz" heal buttons at the same time often. But at this point, we still didn't know our tank was new. I just thought she was leveling her tank gear.

Next up, Forgall. Our tank MT's once again.... Here... it becomes a bit more obvious she was new. We were alliance C. So first sign was when she let the add rampage on all of our faces. But one of the other tanks picked it up as our tank hit succubus. We get through. Then mega deaths happen. Our tank was still MT'ing when she didn't get into the green goo and of course, died. About 5 raises later, it became obvious and my co-heal spoke up and told them to stand in the green goo to survive that mechanic. But by this time, Forgall constantly changing targets took it's toll and most of the raid had gone down. So much so that it eventually came down to all 3 tanks being dead and I as a healer, became the new MT. I raise our tank and wait for her to pull it off me... it never came ._. I tanked Forgall's last 10% of hp. I honestly dunno how I survived. Luckily, my co-heal was awesome and we were both on point with healing the hell winds.

At the headstone trash boss, our tank finally mentioned she was new (none of us were surprised at this point). Surprisingly... Ozma was the smoothest of the boss runs... (how the F did that happen?!). I tried to explain the ozma mechanics before we started, but one of the alliances pulled. So i only got the basics in, like, square stand close, triangle get off platform, stand opposite of party on platform during square and comets are left and back. Of course, many don't know what to do when new, which is to be expected. During the square phase though, she freaked out and started to run back and forth, cleaving everyone with the beam lol. Then, to top it off, she jumped off the edge. I couldn't help but laugh a bit. I could literally see the panic as she ran back and forth on the platform trying to avoid the beams then just giving up and jumping off (to which then the rest of us were trying to figure out who the beam was targeting lol).

We get through Ozma 1st go though with relatively no real issues aside from that. However, we all asked our tank not to MT Calofisteri. Everything started off fine, but at one point, the MT literally turned the boss and cleaved the entire raid. This was around half health though... so things were slow as there was usually only about 8-14 people alive from that point on. Lets just say, the fight lasted so long, that our team alone used an lb3 and two lb1's during the fight. We somehow got through. Was quite the interesting run.

I can see a 2/2/4 group being able to do this...with an offtank and one healer capable of pushing good dps (while the other tank/healer do their jobs solo), and everybody being at least i225-230 with an i230+ weapon AND good at their jobs. Otherwise, not happening. 1/1/6 gives quite a bit of room for error (remember, you can push him with 1-2 swords and still do it).

Qarn NM via leveling roulette on my sprout DRG alt. The warrior is new, so my inner mentor lets me explain everything important - boss mechanics, positioning the stone heads on the glowing platforms and the symbols you put on the scales before the final boss. It's a normal run, nothing special happens, then after the final boss, the BLM compliments me for explaining everything without being asked, and I get all the commendations. ...but I don't feel like I've done something special, I just explained stuff :O

Did Palace of the Dead 11-20. I had 29/29 and managed to upgrade both my armor and arm. :D

I jst went from 24/26 to 26/27 in the first ten levels!

I had a nuh moment in PoTD, seriously one of those moment that leave you wonder if you could just go rage and Knock them off once and for all.

PoTD last 10 levels-SCH (me)-DRK-BRD-SMN

for the entire 10 floors tank never tanked a single time, BRD was runing allover the place BUT with the rest of the group and so did the SMN...they were all in different places never together, leading to a few death, afterall I cant be in many places at the same time, and when those few times together tank never tanked a single time so I ended up having aggro all the time during those moments and those mobs can hit pretty hard, of cousre when he attempted to regain aggro he never had the proper stance on and so couldnt and so we often then not ended in the brick of a wipe..if ti wasnt me it was the BRD kiting like a mad gorilla. You would think that Titan EGi would have been taken out ? well nope...it was Ifrit...to add to the rest.

At lvl 43(I couldnt hold back me being who I am ) I asked why he couldnt tank..his answer was, these levels you dont need to tank as they can be done with 4 dps. People can kill mobs on their own (true story) Is that really so that people dont require to do their job, and can do whatever, careless of the rest ? from the looks of it seem so.

One thing is sure, next time I meet such people, I will just forget I am a healer and will just dps based on that premise that well since it can be done by 4 dps, they dont need a healer ? right ?.

We made it, barely, but we did.

What is more worrysome is the trend as that answer wasnt the first time I got such an answer and thus why even have classes ? is not necessary let us all go there naked since no class is required...seriously I was just NUH...

I hit level 60 last week and wanted to finish the available Main Scenario Quests before heading into the endgame content.

I unlocked Nidhogg and queued up in DF.
Here, my desperation began:

(side node: It was terrible weather outside, warm as sh't, muggy as hell and I had a slight headache. I watched a guide to see what awaited me and went for it. I just wanted to get it done before going to bed earlier than usual.)

1st party: Didn't even let me finish watching the cutscene before leaving. I finished the cutscene and found myself alone on the Steps of Faith. Around 10 people in total joined - only to leave immediately after spawning. I abandoned.

2nd party: Luckily, I found some relatively patient people who didn't abandon after the first wipe. Unfortunately, it didn't end with just one wipe. One of our healers thought it was a good idea to stand in the big black holes of doom all the time. After they died, their only responses were: "WTF" or "lol". Our party members tried to talk to them, to explain the strategy - they just wouldn't listen to us.
After a while, we found out that they were a German. One of those who didn't speak the tiniest bit of English. As a fellow German, I tried to explain the mechanics (DO NOT STAND IN THE AOE) to them but do you think that it helped? No! They just repeated the same mistakes over and over again until they asked the party in German:

"hat das schon jemand gepackt (did anyone manage to complete this fight yet)"

I translated it for my other party members and then they left after desperately looking for excuses.
(side note: I'm German but my hatred for my countrymen in online games knows no boundaries)

I said, "Screw it!" and went to bed. On the next morning, I wasn't any luckier.


3rd party: A typical HURR DURR one wipe? ABANDON!!! party.

4th party: A mix up of German (sad face) and French players, plus a single English speaking one. We wiped once, but people didn't leave (yet). I was really surprised at this point. But I was a fool to expect any positivity or patience. The German players started insulting the French:

"hach, typische Franzosen mal wieder ;) (oh my, typical Frenchmen again *insert typical arrogant German smiley*)"

"Noobs bleiben Noobs xD (noobs stay noobs xD)"

And then they left. The French wrote something in their language and did the same. The English speaking person just said "gtg" and was gone in an instant.
I was really getting frustrated at this point because I had already ranted with some friends and they were just like "Well, it was easy on patch day".

Luckily, I found some people on my server with party finder (should've done that in the first place) who, although they were mostly in for the tomestone bonus, were really nice and helpful. Then I took a nap to calm down, but thinking of it made me wanna vent again so here I am!

Also, yes, even though I am German, I really despise most of the other Germans in online games. Before I started playing XIV, I frantically looked for some information on which server has the fewest Germans... Please don't think too much of it (as it's part of me venting right now).

Just edit your post next time to bypass the 1000 limit

I am feeling withyou, our "people" make me cry. /(which is why i avoided Shiva when i startd the game at summer 2014ish.. highest Popularity of "Germans" and 99% of them are idiots to say it the nicest way possible)

Saddens me to say stuff like that to my own nation but it is how it is.. "the evil french people"sure... Most germans are not better, and with most i mean "ALOT"

You know the funniest part? The newbie BLM played better than some of the other dps that already cleared it. He dodged everything.
Afterward I added him/her to my friends list and if he/she needs help in the future they know where I can be found :)

I also had a handful of players belittle the "noobs" in World of Darkness. And this all kicked off after one wipe. One wipe on the LAST boss :/
It's a small wonder that new players find it hard sometimes starting out in this game, the hostility toward them is unbelievable.

So I just found out something new.

Apparently if you use dragonfire or spineshatter dive on Ozma when your starting position is on the outer rings, then you die.
