Leveling Roulette as BLM got 27 mins in progress Stone Vigil. Party consist of DRK, MNK, SCH, it felt completely tense and salty when I got in. I asked what happened they told me the other DPS I replaced was rude and un-cooperative. until I see why.... DRK (lv 45) tanked with no Darkside on, unleash once per pull and only Power Slash combo the primary target. 2nd boss they tanked it right next to the cannons and I had to get myself wind debuff in order to shoot down the dragon that jumps down. Orz

My mentor pride got the best of me so I decided to stay. The run proceeded while I felt completely dead inside with tank marking targets while power slash combo only the primary target after the unleash once..... until we reached last boss. I asked why the DRK not entering Darkside and they replied they need MP, I told them they get MP back by using Blood Price and Siphon Strike combo, only to get a " I play as I want and don't want any advice from others" ._.

Onward to boss fight ! the fight started to the point where I almost ripped aggro out of the tank, so I had to stop dpsing for 40 secs! ( the tank was typing the whole time) I had to said "aggro!" so that the tank would just do his enmity combo and I could dps. After first jump, tank turned boss facing MNK, and MNK nearly died because of the cleave attack. After the boss was downed I just commed the MNK and got a comm back, left immediately since the salty atmosphere is not the trouble worth getting into....

Also side notes to people who want to play DRK please please read the tool tips and use both Darkside and Grit. DRK is about MP management while tanking ! Let us not sullen the name of all the good DRKs out there.

Did Palace of the Dead and got a in-progress group with 12 minutes to go, and on level 50. I enter and am in a small, circular room with no mobs or exits of any kind. The others were next to me at first, but somehow teleported to the boss room, and I have no way of getting there. They all die, but because I'm still alive, we don't fail. We eventually had to vote abandon because there was no possible way for me to raise them. :/

I felt really bad because they were in there for such a long time only to have to leave.

Uhhhhhhhh... that sounds kinda buggy. Hope it was just a random freak occurrence.
Also, I didn't know you could get in-progress Palace queues. Learn something new...

As a mentor who wants to mentor people, I'm always saddened when helpful advice is being rejected outright. I also get similarly sad (and kinda angry) every time I hear stories about mentors who refuse to do their mentoring.
Can't we just have the uncooperative mentors and mentees get matched together, and the cooperative ones together elsewhere? Plese duty finder! :P

In PotD as whm and get paired with 2 DPS and 1 other WHM. My WHM partner makes no attempt to heal at any point. He never esuna'd, left me and the DPS with the silence/pacify debuff at points. Never healed anyone even if they were about to die. At one point I was swarmed because WHM agro and he just stood spamming Stone II. Towards the end of a run I ran over a mine and it exploded on the WHM running behind me (with half his HP because he doesn't believe in self preservation) and he dies, I walk away unscathed, karma. Note: I couldn't see this trap, we never got a single sight poemander the whole run T-T.

Matching those two together will be quite a sight ! let us hope that the dev would tweak DF matching system a bit or create a system based on how salty a player is. The more the salt points the more chance you meet a salty players. xD

I'm not excusing all of their behaviour (you can Esuna while in CS!) but often in groups with multiple healers, one will be the "official" healer and the other(s) will act as a secondary DPS. They may have thought you were the "main healer" in this scenario.

I don't know how, or why, but the Twelve seemed to have conspired against my friends, because almost every DF instance I've helped them with have always included at least one "special" person.

Last night I helped with Chrysalis, along with an FC mate, and we got put in with a SCH that couldn't be bothered with Adloquium or Succor. So it was pretty much my FC mate going pro heals for most of the fight. Then when the time freeze part came, said SCH blew our LB3 on Angel Feathers before we were all sucked in. Probably the most baffling thing I've ever seen. Still, we managed to down the aetherial tear and finish the fight. I think my FC mate and I were on the same page: that SCH died later on and neither of us were bringing her back.

Uhmm the sch lb3 is a healing one not attack were you low on health? If you were not low on health zhen the fairy was probaby enough to do the job .

Yeah, that was the baffling thing. There was hardly any danger to us at that moment that Succor or the fairy or my FC mate couldn't fix.

Got into drex as a mnk, tank with seph weap couldn't hold aggro off me, died several times cuz healer didn't bother to heal. Things went on til mistbeard's room, tank said sorry about aggro issues, healer said im a bad dps for stealing aggro off tank, mocked me a bit then vote dismissed me right in front of mistbeard :<

I've gotten two so far - both of them on bosses. I think it's because people are leaving because they didn't get any upgrades on the final floor. :/

Yep, I believe if you have the duty finder set to join in progress you can queue into potd in progress.

Sounds like a potential report for misuse of the kick function, possibly harassment.

Ironworks gear Summoner on A1.

So, Cutter's Cry as BLM. Tank decides to skip two rooms of trash and ends up killing himself and the healer because they weren't able to use the Shifting Sands in time. I asked why we even needed to skip them because it was good exp (all of us were 40 or lower, so it's not like it wouldn't have been helpful), but the tank never answered. We get to the final boss and the healer mixes up the colors and dies. I'm healing the tank and monk, and eventually both of them die. I decide I'm not going down without a fight, but then I nearly die and decide maybe fighting isn't the best idea, so I run around casting Scathe over and over again until I, too, die.

We try again and the same happens. I start Scathing and it works really well - I only got hit once, and even then I was able to heal myself. It starts taking too long, so I just let him kill me so we can start over. The healer raises the tank (he didn't have Swiftcast, so I'm assuming this is why he didn't do it during the previous two attempts), but nothing happens. He tries again, but the tank doesn't accept. We figure he was trying to go afk so he can get kicked, but then we decide to try without him. The healer says he'll run around using a DoT, I'll scathe, but then the monk has a better idea - maybe he should tank so he won't have to chase after us.

Sooo, the monk is tanking, the healer is healing, I'm BLMing, and it's going really well. Sadly, the healer gets hit by the paralyzing ball and one of the eye color attacks, and dies. I start healing the monk while doing some damage and eventually we finish it!

The chimera's one of my least favorite fights, and this is the only time I've ever actually enjoyed it. It's nice to know that I could attempt to solo it, too (even though it may take several hours). 8D

Still salty about this even today

So today my wife and I decided to go on little leaf-alt characters and relive the ARR storyline as well as see what starting off with our present main jobs would have been like. We finally hit the point of the storyline for Copperbell and queue up, me as a CON heals and her as MRD tank. We get a 60 BRD and a 24 ROG. Both synced down.

So we start and my wife marks the targets as she usually does and the ROG immediately takes issue with the fact that she marks all of the mob targets. We both point out that some (though few) people get confused by a blank target and my wife points out that it helps her cycle through the targets and maintain enmity and apologizes if she caused any offense.

We skip the first extra room, used to no one ever preferring full clears on our mains (that levelling grind though, still works on all the 60s) and we both notice a few mobs later that he questioned skipping the exp but figured he thought we didn't know the extra mob was there. But since he hasn't said he wishes for a full clear we continue on.

Next mob there are two targets, she marks them accordingly. ROG says it's "obnoxious" to mark when there's only one target (which there were definitely two). Mob gets killed and my wife starts typing out to ask why he's so angered by her marking, as she's really confused and he runs forth to kill the next mob.

My wife and I have a longstanding rule, if a dps pulls, they can handle the mob. And since it's only one enemy, we move to the next mob and take it down. Next is boss which is easy and all is silent. Then the ROG runs forth and pulls the next mob. Once again, we let him have the mob. Definitely not the proper way, but we're both uncomfortable and don't really want to support this guy in doing whatever he wants. BRD has been silent this whole time but we notice she stays with him so we assume they are together at this point.

We clear two more mobs by ourselves and then the other two catch up, ROG says "While you 2 are here for the sightseeing tour, the 2 of us are here for the exp, so we'll see you at the end". By this point, we're both not thrilled with him and my wife points out that he never actually asked for a full clear just commented that we skipped one room and adds that the run hasn't been pleasant so far and we just want it to end.

Now the lvl 60 BRD speaks, for the first time saying that levelling dungeons mean mandatory full clears (as everyone should supposedly know?) and that should be obvious. We point out that we're not here to level, but for the story and we've only missed one room with one mob and that's it's not right to not do a full run since half the party wants it (which we didn't know as she was level 60 and couldn't get exp and he didn't say anything until just then).

I point out that we're there as story dictates and that by her point of view it's equally not right as the other half doesn't wish to do a full clear and that it's never been mandatory to do a full clear. And while I know some people like full clears I've run into groups that really don't. Which the BRD thought was "ignorant".

At this point, we've decided these two are more trouble than they're worth and are just so glad we got them, as opposed to actual novice players and I take the hit and we leave.

But I am still amazed that they went through all the effort of being passive aggressive and then straight out hostile when they could have politely said "Can we please full clear? I need exp." Which every time we've ever seen such a question, no matter how much we didn't want that full clear, we have done for polite, civil players. A little kindness really does go a long way.

Also, I really wish you could blacklist players on other servers! We've gotten that BRD before and she was equally unpleasant to our mains. T^T What are the odds.

I have had players do this to me when I am on tank, they start being passive aggressive then outright harass me if I skip mobs instead of just asking me. If people ask for what they want I have no problem helping out. Instead they just like "OMG YOU SHOULD KNOW WHAT I WANT".

You try to full clear and then you got people yelling at you cause they want a quick clear. You try to quick clear and then you got people yelling at you cause they want a full clear....you can't win with these people. These players need to learn to just tell people what they want instead of getting pissed that others can't read their minds. Le sigh.

There's main healer and then there's "I don't care have fun with your silence" T-T

So I had to tank a Brayflox's Longstop HM, as PLD. This run took 40 minutes to complete. Why?

Mainly because we wiped to the final boss 3 times. Why?

Mainly because both the WHM and SMN were new, and neither of them bothered to mention this fact. Yet, even after an explanation of boss mechanics, the WHM displayed an uncanny ability to die to the bombs. Throughout the run, they never once used Medica II, barely used Regen, and didn't seem to know the difference between Divine Seal and Shroud of Saints, or even which situations to apply them in.

Dear god, I never knew that boss could be this difficult. It's not like anyone in the party was undergeared. I really, really wish healing wasn't such an easy job that a healer can get to 50-60 without knowing what half their skills do or how to use them.

So I got into a Palace of the Dead matched party, when I spontaneously look at the WAR's gear I noticed something. He had no upgrades. So I asked him if it was his first time or if he got the padjal weapon already, he told me it was his first time.

I proceeded over the course of the entire 1-10 floor block tell him general information about the various pomanders, warning him about certain mobs, telling him about the various rewards, how to get the level 60 ilvl 235 weapon, etc etc. Cause 1-10 is boring, quick, and mindless anyways.

By the end of the dungeon he calls me a veritable oasis of knowledge and that he appreciates the info/tips. I told him that it was no problem.

The for some reason felt like saying (and did say) that old GI Joe line "The more you know... and knowing is half the battle."

When we all leave I get 3 commendations.

Got into PotD 41-50 last night on my Bard.
Was matched with a Machinist and two Monks.

Went about as well as could be expected with no healing...


But, then we got several mimics, two party members got pox, and then we ended up on a floor with no auto heal, not that half of the party could auto heal anyway...

Found out that dying doesn't remove your pox, after getting rezzed with a phoenix down one of the members ended up dying to the dot afterward...

We gave up and vote abandoned.

What about potions?

Tons of potions drop in the dungeon and the cooldown time is pretty short.

The pox cure (It's called Purity) is a pomander not an item like a potion so unfortunately it can be RNG whether or not you have one in the PotD inventory since it comes from the Gold Chests at random.

Another dungeon where my boyfriend and I kicked the other 2 members:
Snowcloak, 50 roulette, me as AST, boyfriend as WAR, got a leaf SMN and a non-leaf DRG. New player bonus.
Boyfriend and I say hi, DRG waves and says hi, SMN silence. We start and it goes fine until first boss. I have to kill the bombs which I don't mind, while DRG and SMN get frozen a few times. Boss takes quiet a bit and we even get 3 bombs to spawn, 2 of them explode since I was busy healing (a lot of damage taken on the dps) and could only take down one of them. The dps remained on boss. I mean, it wasn't even a burn, he took ages to finally die.
We carry on, up to Yeti. Oh none of the dps asked for any mechanics or anything, that "hi" from the DRG was the last thing she ever spoke, while the SMN kept silenced. Normally, if we have new player bonus and nobody asks anything, I assume they are alts and don't explain anything. If they ask, then of course. But these guys didn't so as I said, either they new about it from friends/videos/whatever or they were alts.
So where was I... ah yes, Yeti. SMN remained the whole fight on the boss. DRG helped me with the Frostbound when I started marking Yeti with the "no-touchy" mark and the Frostbound with "1". I also said in party "kill the Frostbound". I'm on ps4 and didnt have time to switch my keyboard on so I was typing with the convenient and practical virtual ps4 keyboard. The DRG keeps killing of the huge snowballs or shooting them in the oppossite direction of the boss, and we had many rounds with no snowballs up which I healed through. After an aeon and a half, he finally dies. We carry on.
Fenrir... both SMN and DRG got the map achievement, I make the joy motion, boyfriend waits a bit in case they ask for a how-to, nothing comes, we charge in.
Not only do they get hit by every possible ground telegraph, but of course die to Lunar Cry (is it called Lunar Cry? I can't even recall). No problem, they are new, it's to be exepcted. I raise one, next time the other one get hit and dies too, both dead, SMN returns.... I then die aswell dodging too slow out of telegraph trying to get the DRG up and my boyfriend is left trying hard to finish the boss.
He doesn't succeed and we all respawn and run back. This is when I get a little annoyed. I say in party "do you guys know the mechanics?" I knew they didn't but I wanted them talk damn it. I was actually typing the basic mechanic when my boyfriend beat me to it "every other group of aoe hide behind the pillar that has no mark" or something. But not a single word from the dps. I chime in with "guys, if you don't talk I will assume you are bots" and still no answer. the SMN steps into the ring, the DRG just does nothing and that triggers me.
I'm sorry but I'm not gonna hand new people the dungeon in, explaining everything when there's not a single word coming from them or any sign of willingness. I like to play with people, not NPCs. And no, being on Playstation is no excuse as you can easily type "yes pls" or whatever short or even an emote, if you can say "hi", you can do it! I always compare to real life, if you have the balls to say something to someone in their face, then say it in the game too. Can you be a nasty bitch to a real person on the street? No? Then don't do it ingame. If you are greeted when you enter a place, bloody greet back, or do you go somewhere, the people there say hello to you and you just sit down silent and drink your beer? If you are asked directly like in this story, but imagine it's real life and you are sitting with a group of people doing something, do you just remain silent and keep on doing what you were doing while the person who is asking you stares into your face?
Anyways, tl;dr, I kick the SMN, boyfriend kicks the DRG, we get a ninja and a machinist, finish the boss in maybe 3 minutes, done.

Morale: please talk. I don't want to hear your lifestory, I just want an answer to my question so I can help you out. If you don't care, I don't either, but I will get someone who does.

Just got a Dragoon as DPS partner in Eso farm laboratory. He did awesome 225 DPS on Prism Ascian.. Why? HOW? How is it even possible to go this low? He only died once and was always on the boss.

Is not killing the adds in Ravana ex the thing now? Cause I've gotten into multiple groups where people do that and we obviously wipe since it's not a solo tank and solo heal party.

I hate this crap so much. I'm all for helping new players out and giving advice on bosses, but I'm like you in that if they don't say anything I figure they're on alts. My friends and I enjoy helping new people learn stuff. We feel a certain pride when we take someone through and watch them succeed. However, we get equally irritated when someone's new, doesn't speak up, and causes problems.

I signed up for Trial Roulette as my WHM the other day, thinking/hoping/praying it would be a quick grab at some tomes. The loading screen finishes and I've landed in... Bismarck. I'm thinking, "You know it could be worse!" The new person bonus pops up, but even then I'm still just weirdly optimistic, because it's Bismarck.

Well fast-forward and our struggle bus of a group couldn't even get through the first phase. I was hauling ass left and right across the battlefield trying to hit both of the dragonkillers, use the shield, and help kill the trash. The dps was so abysmally low that by the time the adds died, there was little time (if any) to hop on his back. Round and round we go until eventually he destroys the island. In the end, I'm sitting there like:

As far as I know, it actually is the in thing to try now. It rarely works, but people insist on doing it anyways. And if you have the gall to question the strategy even after a wipe with 6 swords you get yelled at and possibly kicked.

But when it was time to get on his back the bard, the black mage, and the white mage refused to get on. They were all trying to dps from the island. So I told them to get on the back. Nope. I explained why they should. Nope. No response, no getting-on-the-back. And as far as I know the only new person in the group was the dragoon who was doing things correctly.
We still easily downed Bismarck in 1 + 2 rounds (the one to open the corona). Just imagine how fast it could have gone if everyone got on his back...
