There is not a single argument for removing your tank stance in a dungeon that isn't rooted in maliciousness.
There is never a positive reason to do so. Ever.

you pull you tank mentality is a joke, and a very bad reflection of a person behind the screen. If other people - especially a healer - are pulling ahead of the tank , the tank is going too slowly. Here's how you tank a dungeon, general guide. Very simple. Load in to dungeon, turn on stance, move towards mobs, pop sprint just before you get in aggro range, pull with provoke then aoe the mobs as they charge you. Aoe twice for good measure so you dont lose aggro while grouping the mobs to a dps who actually does dmg on pulls (as they should be doing), OR use your ranged attack on the enemies behind you, scrolling thru the enemy list to ensure you dont end up with any stragglers. Get a minimum of 2 groups of enemies (this is pretty much how all newer dungeons are designed, so its really hard to mess it up) , pop some cd's and some aoes, buffs etc, go ham on the mobs. rinse n repeat til you hit a boss. If you don't sprint , you're taking a ton of extra damage from the auto attacks of mobs behind you that you shouldn't be taking, it makes the healer do less dps and the dungeon take longer. This is very simple , and common sense stuff. Get with the program folks! If your icon is blue it doesn't mean you call the shots, it doesnt mean you're the boss or any type of leader. You're a meatshield. Do your job.
tldr; sprint is mitigation, use it and do big pulls with mitigations, get good. If you don't know the dungeon, you sure as hell wont learn it by half assing it. Dive in head first and go ham, it's the best way to learn quickly.
"you pull you tank mentality is a joke, and a very bad reflection of a person behind the screen. "
Why? If you want to tank, then go ahead.
"If other people - especially a healer - are pulling ahead of the tank , the tank is going too slowly"
Perhaps the tank is new? Does not know how much he can handle, or does not want to sprint like a maniac.
I'm not your Boss, or the Leader of the Group. Your right, but also you are in the same way, nothing to me. You are a bunch of randoms and when you dont like how i want to tank, kick me.
It's a wonder Tanks are always needed in queues, when the DPS and healers are so so lovely towards us. :D
The tank is the designated punching bag. That is their entire purpose. I don’t really see how there is any room to grow an ego when you’re signing up to be the party masochist.
Got it, next time I queue in as a dps if the tank or healer so much does a single iota of damage, I'll stop hitting buttons. They're volunteering themselves for roles they are not. If I see a caster sling spells whilw I'm q Paladin, I'll stop using holy spirit abilities because I'm the caster and they're not.
How asinine. The dev team made tanking so braindead that you don't even have to work for aggro, just sneeze in the general direction of the mob and it'll come to you. Don't be an ass, you're 1 person, theyre 1 person, grab the enemy and move on with your life.
Any tank who says if you pull it then you tank it should not be tanking and playing a different role instead in the game. That is a poor toxic mentally that needs to stop happening. It's not hard to go get the mobs the person pulled and get enmity on them with how easy this game allows for us to grab it from anyone with very little effort.
It’s all down to personal preference and egos.
For me every dungeon is wall to wall pulling. I wouldn’t mind if they were running faster than me since my sprint ran out and grabbed them.
Sort of related but not really: A lot of times, as a DPS I will accidentally aggro enemies during a tank pull and the enemy will begin to chase me instead. But tanks never get mad about it, it's not a big deal and let's be honest... who doesn't love a good mix-up of skill usage lol
A tanks job is to hold hate and mitigate. Who pulls doesn't matter. If you refuse to hold hate because someone pulled, then you are not a tank and should not have queued as one. Leave on your own, don't make others waste a kick on you.
As all dungeons play out exactly the same (2 trash, boss, 2 trash, boss, 2 trash, final boss. Yes, sometimes there can be bigger/spicier pulls, or forced single pulls for plot reasons), a tank stops being new to the trash mob parts of dungeons pretty quickly. If they haven't figured out how to use their mitigations after 10-100 levels, then they're not "being new." They're being inept and were likely enabled to to be so.
