Petition: Magitek Armor Tune

Bump and sign! iv been wanting this for some time! they even said way back in beta that if enough people asked for it they would do it and I think its about time!

Agreed. This team really listens to its playerbase so we should make sure our voices are heard. But not just tunes for magitek armor, tunes for all mounts would be splendid. I'd love to be able to ride around on say the Titan Horse listening to the Titan theme and if people don't like the music they can disable mount tunes while riding which is already in the game currently. :)

Hope they put it in for you guys. I personally am going to stick with the chocobo. That magitek is too big for me.

I know that this has been a very long and ongoing request to add. We checked in with the Lore team about the possibility of adding Terra’s theme as the background music for the Magitek armour mount, but as this is a suit of FFXIV-specific Magitek armor, they do not have any plans to use that song.

Over 500 up-votes & no hint as to at least some other tune being utilized?

Honest question, don't mean offense to the company or its members in any way--curious as to why you guys say no so often many of the most popular requests?

That's kinda disappointing, considering they've used songs from previous games in the series (FF2 and 3, looking at you) before with no qualms.

I know don't shoot the messenger but.... Booooo. Honestly that is pretty weak sauce since the FFXIV Magitek Armor is an exact copy of Yoshitaka Amano Concept Art for FFVI Magitek Armor. So boo.

That's different, Tera's theme is tied to her in FF6, the chocobo even if he's fat, is universal. The attachment to the series is not strictly stuck to one game.

But it was a remixed theme suggested, at least what I heard was. I just think it's odd to say "oh this is an FFXIV Magitek not an FFVI Magitek" Yet FFXIV and FFIII Crystal Tower can have the same themes, FFXIV Fat Chocobo and FFV(and more) Fat Chocobo, and probably other themes I've missed, are ok to be the same too.

That's why I think it's weird that they're so adamant about not doing this when they were fine to do so with other themes. All seems a little bizarre.

If Nobuo Uematsu is against his precious work being used in this game, I'll understand.....

I can't quite explain it other than they seem to never play themes for characters in which you were meant to invest emotions in to. CT, Greg, Chocobo, etc, are just memorable tunes of characters and events that are either one dimensional and can have their stories altered to fit ffxiv or an area that serves more as nostalgia.

Maybe because the time, effort, and capitol it would take to make a new song isn't worth the very, very small amount of people that ride the mount regularly and would actually care about different music for the mount. It would be cool and all, but they are a business. Anything with cost has to have a worth while reward.

There are just so much cross-Final Fantasy references, the theme HAS its place in the game. Especially since it's for the PLAYERS to enjoy. What does the lore team have to do with it?
Does that mean running on our chocobo allows the world NPCs to hear the song too? Where, then, does that song come from?

We even had Lightning and Shantoto cross dimensions to come into Eorzea, so come on! We don't want to hear shenanigans.

As many others have mentioned, even a remixed version for FFXIV would be fine (but the original was pretty awesome too).

Please re-examine to possibility of bringing the song in the game. Thank you.

Inone of the castrums we even have a station that mentions the train you ride after cyans castle falls
And Papalimos female escort too mentions that train.

A LOT of the Garlean stuff screams that it is somehow similar/connected to the Empire of FFVI. The uniforms, the castrums really remind me of magitec factory. The drawings of the emperor? they look like a very skeletal version of the gestahl emperor D:

While it is true, Tina/Teras theme is VERY specific, it being the World of Balance theme and in the "March on Narshe opening" and it having a orchestrated with voice version *aaargl*

I want at least a differen tune for it. The tune might be fitting for the couerl, with a stretch also the ahriman, but the magitec?

My only question is why refuse it when you specifically made an arrangement of Terra's Theme for the Reaper's reveal trailer last year, even going so far as to recreate the game's opening to a degree?

The artbook from collector's edition even shows you a Magitek Research Facility, clearly written just like that.

What else could be more FF6-ish than this ?!?!?!?!?!?

And the Lore Team says they cant put a song for the Magitek armor !?!?!?!?!?

This is the lamest thing I have heard from the developers of a game.

I'm feeling very disgusted by this game recently. I love this game but it's just bullshit over bullshit all the time.

There are classic themes that come with classic events, with more than obvious references to past FF games thrown in. 2 things that confuse me about this is on the original trailer for FFXIV ARR with the magitek walkers the music in the background was a remix of ff6's theme of tera, so why wouldn't that remix be aloud, expeshally when thinking that songs such as fat chocobo battle on the big bridge "battle theme 1.x" (which is a remix of ff2's battle theme) and even CT's music for scylia tower which is a remix of ff3, granted some songs are a staple in final fantasy tradition but others have been remixed JUST for one boss that is cameo'd, as well as this but you had lightning come though erozia and according to the ff13 timeline that would make sense BEFORE going to valhalla, instead she knew of ciaus and the chaos which means its AFTER ff13-2 which dosnt make much sense in both ff13 and ff14, not to mention the countless other references to other final fantasies, by name title or even flat out saying it.


so i ask why can't there be a song for this mount which IN ITSELF is a reference to ff6 a song which can be remixed and HAS been remixed,

Except Tina's theme is actually one of the main themes to FFVI, not specifically tied to her. Also, Crystal Tower only existed in Final Fantasy III, thus not universal, thus defeats the logic that they won't do something "specific to x."

Square Why Tease us like this and then tell us no you can't do it?

I firmly stand against this choice by the lore team. There have been others here that have spoken up various reasons and brought examples up (CT, FF2 battle music remix, Gilgamesh among others) of music, locations and items from previous games.

Magitek Reaper and Terra's theme are an iconic piece of nostalgia that connects players with not only emotional depth but with that sense of pride and dedication.

So, as someone else has mentioned and asked,

Why not do this for us, the fans? 430+ posts. Thousands of views. Tons of thumbs up agreeing with the suggestion of a small, simple change.

Please, do this for the fans.

FFXIV-specific, is it? The Magitek mount is a blatant nod to the iconic Magitek Armor that we first glimpsed Terra, Biggs, and Wedge driving through the Narshe snowfields in the opening credits of FFVI. That it be relegated to the same non-chocobo music as every other mount in FFXIV is to do SE's nostalgic fans a great disservice. Come on, do it #ForTheFans

Yeah that's exactly what I was getting at. We aren't saying it had to be the exact Terra's Theme from FFVI. But they are the ones who used a remixed version when advertising FFXIV, Magitek and all the like, then they refuse to use the already made and already used remix in conjunction with the actual game, even after already doing so!

Baffling.

The dev team has used similar blanket excuses for things in the past (not wanting you to repair on non-DOH classes because it wouldn't make sense for a Bard to repair a tunic and lo and behold, we can now do it) so just keep in mind these irritating excuses are not necessarily the final answer. It's no less frustrating because it's a completely weak-winded excuse, but if we keep asking for it, they may yet change their minds.

Sorry, Camate I know you're just the messenger, but the whole "can't use it because it's not FFXIV specific" is blatant hand waving. Someone already said it: Crystal Tower used to be a FFIII specific dungeon. Yet you're using FFIII music in it in FFXIV. You could argue that Crystal Tower was retuned for Eorzean lore (Allagans) and thus allowed the music, but you've actually done that with the Magitek too (Garlean technology). Sorry.

Now if it was because of legal issues (licensing perhaps) then that'd be different. Those laws are not fun and there are tons of rules. Not sure I'd believe it outright since Terra's theme is in Theatrhythm, but it's better than selectively choosing which rules you want to follow on a whim.

That has to be the weirdest reason for not adding something, that I've heard yet. And they've had some weird reasons for not adding/changing stuff...

Just wanna add my own boo and a hiss. I'm sorry but one, it looks exactly like the VI concept art. Two, it should have it's own tune anyway. Are we technically dealing with a FFXIV magitek? Yes, technically. However, the magitek is iconic for VI. That's like saying "These chocobos are 'unique' to FFXIV and so that's why we gave it the same music as the Coeurl mount..."
