So... No news on Chocobo fighting along side us? D:

Probably like a lot of stuff it won't be added til later on once the game is finally up and running.
As for the new opening trailer, the appearance of the Circle in it made me realize something - notice that all four appear in their respective areas/cities they were connected with during the original 1.0 city storylines (Y'shtola in Limsa Lominsa, Thranced in Ul'dah and Yda and Papalymo in the Black Shroud/Gridania), so I'm wondering if it's a sneak peak at the new revised city storylines for ARR for new players. It definitely seems to hint at that.
Well yeah, that is sort of a given. I'm sure their mission is now different but they remain in their respective cities keeping vigil
Playful banter of bored people. I find it amusing. Much more welcome than the kinds of rage posts we saw with the first anouncement of regional servers or the first vid of quests, dont you think?
EDIT: then i scroll down and see Vilhem beat me too it... (sorry if i butchered your name.)
As for the crosseyed kitty, you would be crosseyed too if you had a megaflare to the face. just wait till we see how messed up Louisiox looks! (someone should put that red-eyed derplander face on him)

Also, its Vil-hem, or just Vil for short XD
We're not even into phase one of closed Beta yet, I hope nobody thinks that anything is set in stone yet. It should not surprise you that many elements of the game will still change or be tweaked.
As for the opening movie, they could use text to fill in some of the back story, it doesn't have to be voice. We will find out eventually :P
Also this is just the movie before you press "play", after we make our characters we're bound to be graced with at least another 10 min of cutscenes before you really get into it. Well I hope we are at least! That's part of what Final Fantasy is in my book.
Yeah I guess I kind of went off on a slight tangent. Usually you have the intro movie, then you design your character, and then there are more cutscenes to further explain what is going on at the start. That was the point I was trying to make, is that usually you get more information after the opening movie and that I wasn't too worried about new players not being able to figure out what was going on. No worries!
I would rather not have so many story previews before the game goes live. Leave the thrill of experiencing it for the first time in the place they intended it to be.
As long as we get some quality voice acting, I'm all for it. As bad as the opening elezen's speech was, the delivery itself was good, as was the miqo'te's. Derplander just kinda grunted and whimpered there until the very end, until his "This one" line Lol
And of course, if the Circle of Knowing (ie Thancred) spoke as well, I'd just melt into sweet nothingness '-'
Dear Square Enix,
Please don't forget to put subtitles on all CG movies because I need it. ^^
FFXI's intro is the only FF game that didn't have subtitles and I was disappointed.
Thank you very much!
The CG midlander thread in the "Localization" Forums is a must read. You THOUGHT you understood the story. But you certainly didn't.
Follow Warlocks advice!
I want a scene with my char in ARR to be as epic as this one :D!

And still this CS makes me shed a tear.. Dam you SE!
I wish people would start talking more in SE CS's though..
I mean you guys know how to cast A list actors and you've proven it.
To hear the voices in these cutscenes, would just make people feel even more attached to them..
I have been waiting for the day, that all FF characters have voices and not just lines of text.
So it comes down to the fact that SE needs to just make a Final Fantasy movie with what we all seen. I would buy go see it lol.
You never know - been other movies made from game titles. After A Realm Reborn achieves its greatness...you never know^^ lol
no funding, but we are working on it.
Final Fantasy XIV Fandub
Ah but half that failure was due to a weak storyline in the movie itself...
They did MUCH much better with Advent Children because it was already based on the FF7 with the cast everyone was already so familiar with.
Doing something like Spirits Within was very ambitious, but creating a new storyline, relatively boring characters, and too much focus on graphics cost them dearly.
If you don't have Advent children complete directors cut in HD. You are missing out..
Love it..
Also the FF Spirits within movie was good. If you watch it now you might actually like it.
I don't think the world was ready for it..lol
I am proud to have my FFVII:AC Blu-Ray. Myself, I didn't think Final Fantasy: Spirits Within was a right thing to do for the series however my father watched it and enjoyed the hell of it even he don't play video games. I asked him why and because he himself loved the realistic graphics. >.>
If they had called it a "Final Sci-Fi" I think it would have had a better reception. In fact the should do a spin off series in this way, they seem to be leaning more towards the Sci-Fi and less of the Steam-punk tech.
I thought Spirits Within was a great movie. But I'm usually able to separate the actual game/movie/show from its title, so maybe that's why I'm more able to enjoy things like that.
And yeah... the last time they tried this, it was Advent Children, which was really good! They should stick to making movie sequels to their games, rather than game sequels.
Even if they stuck to original stories/reboots of a particular game world with same charas, it'd be okay.
