Yeah and 3 drops is fine when there's 3 music scrolls to get, but there's like 11 to get from this one. You'll have to win it four times as much and it'll be more competitive for longer than the direct drops in other raids.

Looks like his shoulder.
So we'll probably fight Kam'lanaut and Eald'narche. I wonder if they'll be separate or Apocalypse Nigh style.
For the first raid we had Shadow Lord, who is the final boss of the base game. Now Kam'lanaut and perhaps his brother, the main villains of Zilart. My guess is then that the boss of the third part is a Promathia(villain of Chains), who might have broken free of the lizard's control.
I always suspected that Promathia was going to be the final boss of the raid since Odin, Alexander, Shinryu and so many others are already all in the game. I suspect Lady Lilith will make an appearance too at some point. I just hopeAltana doesn't make an appearance. They only did that once in XI and it was a real special moment that was handled really well, where as here Hydi just kept yappin and appearing so much before they revealed her as the villain of the story, so it took away her mystique.
It'd also give Bakool Ja Ja an opportunity to do something by giving him a mirror match against his FFXI counterpart. (Bakool was Gulool's second-in-command for Besieged.) Plus we might get a cameo from Gurfurlur, since his model is already done. Medusa too, maybe, though the lamia model would need some updating.
It's too bad that XIV has used a bunch of iconic fights from XI already so there'd be no point redoing it here in the Alliance Raid. Doing some stuff from Besieged would be a lot of fun as a ToAU fan so I'm all for that mirror match. I just hope the gear this time around is more inspired than the Ark Angel gear, I remember quite a few XI fans were hypothesising what beloved FFXI sets we'd get only to get none of them. lol
I could see them reusing some things. Like Ozma was in an alliance raid and then BA, maybe they'll take Absolute Virtue from BA and plop him in the alliance raid. They could always change the mechanics so you have to get him stuck on the other side of a rock to win or something. Al'Taieu would be a nice zone to see in XIV too.
And I live in constant fear of the gear getting XIV-ifyed. The Ark Angel gear was ...fine, I guess. The casting set was a little too frumpy though. As long as they give us something that's trying to be FFXI gear, and not some XIV drapes and trenchcoats, I think I'll be okay with it.
A fight with a Beseiged setting would be fun and chaotic. And if they had the serpent general cutscene with Aniki, it would be even better
The next raid starts in San d'Oria!!! That's my favorite city in FFXI and where I started way back in the day. I'm STOKED! Can't wait to have the bagpipes blasting out of my orchestrion! lmao
Is anyone able to do a more thorough translation of the FFXI raid section of the live letter? The translation discord seems to have skipped most of what they were saying.
I wonder how they're going to make Sandy work for this raid and which zones they'll travel to. I'm excited either way but I wasn't expecting them to do one of the cities again to start off. I guess this means one of the great nations has to miss out and I have a suspicion that it'll be Bastok.
I know next to nothing about XI, but I liked that you could explore around that one city area a bit. I hope they have a similar area for this one.

The blue zone looks more like Beaucedine Glacier to me, but the spire looks more like Delkfutt's Tower than one of the Pso'Xja towers so maybe it's supposed to be Qufim.
Beaucedine Glacier does have Fei'Yin which is a structure similar to Delkfutt, but the tower is gone.
The sneak peak of one enemy did show the younger Zilart brother, and we fight him in Delkfutt. So might be that one, and Qufim does have the aurora at times.
I enjoyed the first walk, hopefully this lives up to the standard set and they don’t pull a thalia/euphrosyne.
Odds on AV? Fafnir is already a precedent for eurekan entities reappearing. Maybe the fights will be something like Zilart bros/ultima/AV/[serket/lord of onzozo/tonberries]? Could be cool to visit the temple of uggalephi or labyrinth in the XIV graphics. Hoping to get another nostalgia town too, personally would have rather had windy, but sandy is a nice place too. If the scheming holodeck lizard brings us more holiday snaps I’ll probably laugh but enjoy seeing what was deemed worth sharing.
It’s looking like tavnazia the final/third walk is a reasonable expectation? Slightly surprised since the boyahda tree was zilart as were the AAs. Even prishe is chains, really shadowlord was the only base fight included. Maybe we’ll wrap up zilart early and more right into chains, leaving maybe wings or rhapsody for third walk? Kind of difficult to include Odin/Alexander/Bahamut with how established in the xiv continuity they are, maybe Fenrir?
With one of the fights probably taking place in San d'Oria maybe it'll be like Warchief Vatgit or something. Or maybe Prishe's Elvaan NPC pal will get transformed like she did and it'll be a unique fight against him.
I wonder what are going to be the armor sets this time. I also know nothing of XI, so IDK if dropping where the raid takes place could give up the reference.
Could be a dynamis nm too - although we had dynamis mobs into prishe for jeuno so maybe that’s more an indication of enhanced npc.
If I had to take a guess, North San d'Oria will be similar to Lower Jeuno. Neither zone were used for Dynamis in FFXI, but they are using it in FFXIV as a sort of Dynamis. Since they've already used the Dynamis statues, I could see them have Fomors from the Hydra Corps in this zone, since the corps is supposed to be from San d'Oria. No idea who the boss would be, since I imagine it will be in the castle. Perhaps one of the princes, but that would just feel similar to Prishe.
Honestly with the lackluster, to put it kindly, way the devs have been doing things the past few expansions, they likely just googled "Jeuno Enemies", found there were only dynamis enemies listed, and used those without looking any deeper into it.
They did say they had help from the XI team, but my guess is they were solely used for visuals and the nostalgia bait chat bubbles above the Jeuno ghosts heads.
I took some comparison photos. They really spruced up that castle.

Delkfutt (presumably) looks closer, even with the less visible cermet spine and pattern on the outside. Chateau d’oraguille looks a lot more exaggerated, not sure if the taller spires are meant to be underlining/caricaturing the elvaan arrogance or not given it’s through the lizard’s recollections. Again the angle/camera depth might be skewing things, the fountain is set a way back from the drawbridge; I’m not sure this view would be possible in xi without the fountain obscuring everything.
San d'Oria is my favorite city in FFXI and I love what they've done. If you look at the images side by side the geometry is almost identical. Other than little details here and there they've mainly just added those statues in the plaza and a few spires to Chateau d'Oraguille so it looks more befitting the home of royalty in a society that thinks very highly of themselves. The front of the structure is still spot on to the original, all the way down to the placement of the windows and where the flags are hanging.

Keep in mind that they're working with the current FFXI team on this and many of the former team members are on the FFXIV team. It's very possible that this design for Chateau d'Oraguille was people from the original team fulfilling their original vision.
What seems odd is them using San d'Oria as the second zone when Ordelle currency is already being used for the first raid series (Ordelle coins in XI was San d'Oria's Dynamis endgame coins). So are we just getting Byne bills next in place of it? (Byne bills being FFXI Bastok Dynamis currency papers in place of coins for the endgame zone). Seems out of touch. Dynamis Jeuno (from the XI standpoint of Dynamis) was just all cities currencies depending on which beastmen you killed. IE you killed Yagudo in the past-- you got Tukuku shells from Windurst nation. You killed Orcs, you got Ordelle currency. You killed Quadav, you got Byne Bills. You killed Goblins or any other types, and they were any possible types of currency to drop.
It seems like we are really getting the 3 general zones of Dynamis though (or the starting city zones for Dynamis + Jeuno). Qufim tower does look like one of the zones though
I'd be sad if we didn't get to go to Bastok but I have a feeling that Windurst will be the last one given the Mithra/Taru love and its unique aesthetic.
Taking the opportunity to demand they add the Igqira Weskit to the game.
Just nitpicking but that would be Fey'yin, not Pso'xja. now I can't really tell which. (tower would suggest Qufim, but maybe just a design thing)
Both have a Dynamis.
For Beaucedine :
-If Eureka monsters are on the table Cassie is is up.
-The boss of dynamis teleporting everywhere
-would make sense if we start from San d'oria (not that the first walk made sense)
For Qufim :
-Behemot is close
-Zilart fight is up the tower
-access to Misareaux so we get closer to Prishe's home ?
Edit : I'll be mad if Tavnazia is available in this game before XI
I was thinking Pso'Xja, at first glance I didn't notice the bottom part looking like the entry to delkfutt/fei'yin, as I remember those being gigantic imposing entryways and the perspective of the screenshot makes it look tiny.
I think I just assumed they did a big redesign on the Pso'Xja towers. But it's probably definitely not that.

And Fei'Yin doesn't have a tower, and has a lot of rubble in front of it.

So it's probably just a very blue Qufim.
There are some pointy spires on the gate between North and South Sandy. I think the XIV version still fits with the architectural look of the city.

During the aurora weather qufim looks a bit bluer than normal, not quite to the degree of the xiv screenshot but I can appreciate they might want it to be a bit more vibrant than usual.
I was a patriotic Windurstian in FFXI and even I support this fully! Ronfaure simply has to be an orchestrion roll here in FFXIV. A beautiful and stunning piece that is one of Uematsu's greatest (and most underappreciated) tracks. <3
And for those who never played FFXI and don't understand what we're talking about...
The chances of Ronfaure being included are pretty high I feel. They seem to be including much more music than usual, I feel like I've already heard half the original OST in the first entry of the collab lol. Personally my dream track would be Battalia Downs but that's probably very unlikely.
I wonder if they'll do that FF11 deal again... but hopefully for this patch so it's in the public consciousness.
I do need to visit Vana'diel proper someday.
Since they added prishe’s boots to the may login campaign, there might be more back and forth after the second and third walks are released. It was pretty fun visiting all the areas the raid passed through in the ffxi graphics afterwards.
Come on devs... Still time for that Galka minion(Tradable).
Pretty please?~ ;v;
(Isn't this the tower where you first meet Zeid too?)
