no issues prior to early release, now dx11 errors

Just tried to log in after downloading the patch and resetting the system settings, and I got this message before I could even exit the loading screen:

Unfortunately, re-install doesn't fix the issue, so don't worry, you won't have to do at least that (lol).

so, a bit of an update.
After crashing, the game basically fubared my audio drivers.
Had to reinstall them, and after a few restarts and without changing anything within the game, I don't have a crash anymore.
So, in my case at least, maybe that was something related to the game audio engine ?
I also use my computer for music production, so my environment is a bit weird, and I use a dedicated soundcard for gaming, which might complicate things a bit for the game.

That's interesting !

In my pevious message i mentionned that i heard something wrong when calling my servants, like a crakling noise. So ! I'll try to repair my sound and log into game to see.

Plus, i tried again, it was 2.30 pm and getting a DX11 error again and exactly the same one !

See something different ? ... Jackpot ! (Oh Dear Dante... :o), there's no differences ! Even date and hour are the same. No i'm not mistaken, those two images was taken at different times.

Well, i go try the sound fix, and i'll edit this message if anything good... or wrong.

Edit : Nope, sound is still messy when calling my servant and game crashes as well with no error and returns directly to desktop (I would like to point out that I am on a desktop computer, not a laptop)

Tried again after doubly making sure to rest the system settings, and I actually made it past the loading screen this time.
Not very far, seeing as I only got a view of my hotbar and the lominsan brick work, but I could use chat and my character was apparently moving, so that's progress I suppose.
Interestingly, while I could open up my inventory, the only items that had their pictures loaded were the ones that were already on my bar. I'm no programmer by any stretch, but this makes it sound that the game is failing to load, for whatever reason.
Gonna try it again and create a new charcter to see if Limsa is just cursed right now.

since patch earlier have crashed 3 times when opening the summoning bell, twice near my house, once in crystarium, anyone else having an issue like this, have had no crashes prior to the patch. https://imgur.com/a/6iu1k8H is the error i am getting

now that you mention it, I haven't tried using the summoning bell since my last reboot. I'll give it a go.

I no longer get the DX11 crashes, now I get lobby connection error 90002 every 5 minutes instead.

Thanks SE, I still can't play the game reliably.

Most of my crashes come from using an aetherit or the summuning bell. Sometimes i do nothing and just let see or when i'm running, browsing marketboard. And most of these crashes don't get me any errors. Just crash and return to desktop.

I mean, the benchmark worked alright, so what the hell?
Isn't that what the benchmark is for, to see if your computer can run the expansion reliably?
I remember seeing some kotaku article saying that the launch of shadowbringers was going perfectly compared to stormblood, but with Raubahn you could at least level your classes.

I've noticed that playing around with framerate caps can also trigger the error for me. It can also happen in other situations that can make my fps jump around, like during Rank S/A Hunts. This might explain why I get the errors right after the final ShB dungeon and trial, but not during. Another scenario is when I can grind on FATEs for quite some time, but the moment I tab out (with "Limit framerate when client is inactive" on) I have a good chance of getting a crash.

I finally made it to the game.
Inititally i was in Crystarium.
I got dced 4 times in a row after loading screen.
5th time I somehow could teleport to Limsa Lominsa.
In Limsa Lominsa I got dced every 5 seconds after loading screen.
After 7 tries step by step I got to Middle La Noscea and now I can at least play in dungeons.
But it's stupid. I've bought expansion and I can't play it.

Did a a full reinstall took me 2 hours. It seemed to fix it for me...maybe for now.

I've never had the DX issues with this game like I'm having now.
It is unfortunate, I lost a good chunk of early access trying to fix things. I finally got it working and they patch the game again. Now my issues are even worse than they were before.

Same here. Bought EA, couldn't use most of it because of crashing, fixed it 2 days ago so I could play..somewhat reliably, now they patched the game and I can't play again.

Honestly, at this point, just unsub. SE obviously doesn't give a damn about us.

I hope they notice fast that the maintenance didn't fix the problem. And it would be nice if we got compensated for the lost week.

I used to play this game with maximum settings and absolutely no problem. Now it won't last more than 5min even in windowed with the graphics set to the lowest.
I paid for the EA and a new subscription, and I'm getting nothing from it. You know, apart from a pair of earings...

Tried again, same results, except I could listen to the beautiful song of lominsan seagulls, though no one could hear me.
This time, the error log was mostly for the exe, which was interesting

Probably should keep track of these some way, since they obviously change with nearly every crash. So, when the right patch gets rolled out and I inevitably get left in the dust, I'll just have an entire folder of pictures to send to SE.

I think I can speak for, at the very least, a few people when I say that I'd really rather not.
However, even I have to admit that, even if it doesn't solve the problem by itself, it may very well pave the way for a future patch to fix it without complications.
But the thing is, I would prefer some manner of assurance that such a patch isn't going to be coming in just a few days before I commit myself and my internet to downloading this thing again over the next week.
Y'see what I'm trying to get at here? I'd rather only wait a few days for a hotfix that actually works, over waiting a week to redownload this entire game.

I don't want to hoax it, but this time somehow re-install finally worked for me (after hot-fix).
But it was easy for me, a person with good internet speed.
I can't imagine how hard it is for people like @Tin-.
SE urgently needs to make 'Repair' button for launcher.

Tried lowering my monitor's refresh rate, and that unsurprisingly did nothing
Guess I'm in for the long haul.

I'm done. It's been a week that I couldn't play the game in properly because of mistakes from the developers.

The way SE is treating paying customers, I'm done. I'm just done. Even F2P games are more stable and reliable than this. SHB is by FAR the worst expansion I have seen in my life in any game ever made.

Since people are reporting that a fresh install seems to be working post update i've decided to give that a shot. It's the only thing i can think of at this juncture.

I, too, decided to reinstall all the game from fresh. More or less 10 hours downloading the files. Quite long but well i can't play anyway, so i want to give it a try.

Yeah the reinstall didn't work for a friend at all. Really bizarre that after 2 patches, this issue still isn't entirely fixed. It just kneecapped a new group.

I'm seriously questioning how they managed to break it for more people by reverting it back to where it was. What exactly did they do since the benchmark that broke the game this badly.

EDIT: THE REINSTALL WORKED

I have no issues... running 1080 Max-Q with latest hotfix driver from Nvidia.

Can you all list:

Windows version?
Nvidia driver version?
Is DirectX up to date?
Have you try turning off third party Anti-Virus?
Steam or Standalone FFXIV?

I wonder if, in the cases where the patch didn't fix it, the people didn't break their installs trying to force the game to work before the patch rolled out.

I wonder because it seems like reinstalls are doing the trick for some, and for myself, the patch worked immediately - and I didn't try to fix it at all on my laptop. Just waited for the patch.

Here's the thing.
People with high refresh rate monitors were getting japanese errors on the start of the client yet after hot-fix they seem to be fine.
But people like me with ordinary 60Hz/75Hz monitors were getting even MORE errors after ShB release, so I doubt it was about refresh rate.
I think configs or something else messed up after the update, this is why complete reinstall worked.

But as I said this is very disrespectful to people with low internet speed.
Such a big company could easily make 'Repair' buttons that will check files on server and fix them on your PC.
Even F2P projects have that.
SE is great when it comes to banning for misbehavior, all these jails and GM tet-a-tet. Cool system, I enjoy it.
But technically SE is super low, this is a shame for such giant in this industry.
