The male Raen has a golden tan color to his horns and scales, while the female Raen has whiter horn and scales. Is that always the case, or is it adjustable?

The scale colours are not adjustable. I think it was always the case, thinking back to any previews we had, and a bit unfortunate if you want a brighter/darker colouration.

Ultimately I've decided to go with a Xaela since I like the black horns more than the light horns, and I'm partial to the faces for the Xaela. Since they're a nomadic and relatively savage people, I tried to fit that into the theme, giving my character 'war paint' like you'd see with a people like they are. I think it turned out pretty well.

I absolutely adore her. I'm really loving how the Au Ra turned out over all, and I'm excited to (hopefully) learn more about them.

That's actually creepier than my design but in a different way. If you went one green eye one red like Misaki from the anime Another it'd be cool but I like anime a little to much so......ignore that XD

The naming rules for both clans have been finalized and work is being done fleshing out the lore behind it all. Things will be somewhat similar to what was done with the Hyur (drawing from historic names) but the with the regional and linguistic roots being completely different. Surnames will also feature a special set of rules that can be followed to the T, or slightly modified if a player wants to be adventurous.

I will be adding a detailed (sticky) explanation right here to the forums once Yoshi-P has given me the green light...which hopefully will be sooner than later!

I've asked this question myself, but the best answer anyone can give is that they don't want people making alts just to reserve names, since unused alts are basically junk data eating up dataspace.

Yeah well, some people already have those. If they didn't want that they should have gone with XI's sub version 12.00 a month 2.00 for each alt additional. >.>

I want the conventions to know if my level 50 alt is going to have a racial name or if Im gonna go with my other alt "name save character" with a name change for my 50 alt.

Doesn't seem like much of a reason. If people are going to be making those alts anyway, spreading out the timing of when they're made would seem better than having everyone doing so at the same time.

Aura are not related to Dragons. Their motif are demons.

So we're able to visit an Old Sharlayan settlement and there was, what I'm assuming to be, a Knights of the Round reference when they said "Twelve Knights". This is looking to be a very exciting story so far. And all these new areas that havn't been explored yet is making my mapper scenes go on over drive.

Basically it started out Dragon related, then at some point they decided to instead go with a more Demon type approach. And once again still calling demonic dragons, it pleases both.

I'd rather just say they're Au Ra, but then again I'm not out to please any particular camp...

The original thing that was said about them was that Raen are more reptilian and Xaela are more demonic, so I usually refer to them accordingly.
And sometimes I just call them demonlizards.

I really hope the first thing we see in HW is an explanation of what Au Ra is and if they are Draconic or Demonic so this debate will end XD

Not that I doubt what's said but I'd like to see the full statement vs interpretations made. This wouldn't be the first time there's been some differences of opinion translation.

It has been said in an interview that females can be made to look like the succubi from haukke manor which they sort of can with the right features, it has been said that their motif is demons, that does not mean that they are demon people it just means that it is what they are based on.

Original concept art description makes them out to be dragon people, lore indicates that it is debated enough by scholars to be mentioned that some people think they were born via the Shiva-theory (which does not mean from Shiva and her dragon personally) but it is more or less debunked because au ra hear with their horns and have other differences dragons don't display

The lore the au ra believe is very similar to a real life story depicting a dragon (human form) being with a faerie~ even the race name is similar.

So while i personally go with dragon faeries as a thing because of the scales/horns/tail they are demon based in some ways at least.

I can imagine the heavy debate between scholars happened because of our debates here honestly.. also picturing a scholar from ishgard being introduced to an auri and flipping out.

Ishgard scholar: DRAGON!?
Other scholar: person..
Ishgard scholar: DRAGON PERSON!?
Othet scholar: person person..
Ishgard scholar: SCALES! HORNS! TAIL!
Other scholar: horns are for hearing..
Ishgard scholar: Dragon's don't do that!
Other scholar: finally we are getting somewhere that isn't down a chasm...

Well monsters dissapearing after we kill them is just a game mechanic so it isn't cluttered with dead bodies. I'm sure the Ishgardians are gonna get a lot of...use...out of Vishap.

Well I would make tests on my enemies, their anatomy, how they are able to fly and breath fire. Known how they works makes me able to find better ways to kill them. Im sure they know a lot on Dragon anatomy.

Can anyone explain to why certain hairstyles show of additional horns on the top of their head?

Easiest way to explain it would be that they're decorations. Otherwise we need some sort of explanation for spontaneous growth of additional horns when a specific hairstyle is present.
