We need an AH

There is nothing that Market Wards does well now, that it couldn't do better, easier and faster with only a window interface and no NPCs. The base design of "NPCs selling stuff for you" is bad.

There's nothing this game does that couldn't be done easier and faster with a window interface and no avatars. But it's not as fun. The base design of "NPCs selling stuff for you" is enjoyable.

lol I don't study up on anything. My opinion is that the MW is more enjoyable than an AH. Opinions are not always based in fact, often just personal taste.

all they need to do is link the market wards together from all 3 cities. Sucks to have to walk all the way to Ul'dah from LL or grid or where ever you are. I search field would be nice too.. type in what item your looking for and click search button. pulls a list up for said item instead of going thru the list of "row" to find it. That would make market wards alittle quicker. Dont need an AH, just need a search field to type in item name and to link the market wards or something.

That would be nice, I agree there. The two issues I have with the market wards are the separate cities and the crashing. The crashing is the main reason I think AH will win in the end, but I'll be pretty sad when and if it happens. :(

This. They will probably have a solution for this but it'll be so half cooked it wont even matter. If there's a player spike at PS3 release on top of the fact that people can own and run up to (what?) 7 retainers....its gonna get even messier and fast. Ul'Dah wards are packed already and barely anyone plays now.

I like the MW because my npc's are my bros/ lady friends and help me feel more immersed in the world, like i can change the world when i'm not even there.

But if we could just make the AH with start selling/buying option by calling your npc and you can just leave them around the cities. This way the cities could look "populated" with actual people (seriously where are the people now?), you can feel "immersed", you have an easy way of entering the AH and you can just go around looking what random npc's are selling.

later maybe they can add a feature where you can leave your npc at a hamlet or outpost, so you have a conduit to the AH where you are.

If they are going to stick with the current market ward system, I would at least want a price history added. With that, we'd have most of the features a traditional AH offers, just with a slightly more time consuming process.

Ultimately, though, as I posted in another thread, I'd rather they just close the wards, turn retainers into moogles (or equivalent) for storage, and give us a traditional style AH.

I wasn't stating opinion though. An NPC-less model would be objectively better. There's some flaws that the current model introduces that cannot be solved at all, whereas any new features that this model also introduced can be replicated without the use of NPCs.
