Dear god this would be a dream come true!
Well apparently to some people around here, making an easy server and a hard server is understandable, just as you believe talking about language barriers is understandable.
Hmm.... request for a hard core server. I actually like this idea. I think it would be ridiculous to even consider it now but maybe for later and players could transfer characters. At least that would get them off my server and they can communicate with others who want the same thing about how glorious they are for being on that server. Ya grand idea! Oh but now that I think about it. Make them start from scratch too to get on the server.
what the majority of you failed to understand in such a topic is that a "classic rule set" server would bring back a large chunk of the population to the game. the ffxi orphans would get that classic ffxi feeling back one again. the game only has around 30k players active. this number can grow exponentially through the classic rule set servers. i predict that more than one server would be required almost immediately once the word gets out that they are available.
what is also amusing is the crying from you players. such a server will not hurt your gameplay. but you insist on fighting it. i assume because you are crying internally that you won't get to play with "us" type of players since we will be on a "hardcore" server. what you fail to realize is that "we" don't play the game right now anyway so you won't be playing with us regardless.
i don't think it matters what anyone thinks on these forums because you have to face the facts. only a handfull of dedicated fanboys post on these forums. the far vast majority of them apposed to any change since they need their hand outs on silver platters to survive an mmo. the forums have failed to attract the players that quit the game so you don't see their input generated on here.
such a move will do nothing but increase the population levels. the game is at it's lowest level possible. there can be no direction but up from here on but they have to try things out instead of cowardly following a flawed logic going after WoW's subscriber base on the backbone of a FF mmo.
well yeah, duh.. you would have to start from scratch. no player tranfers would be allowed to or from to avoid "easy" loot and "easy" money being transfered into and out of servers. that or your toon will be required to be stripped of all assets if you decide to transfer over.
You're again confusing correlation with causation. FFXI players didn't quit because the game wasn't FFXI-2. Or because it didn't feature massive timesinks (which very few enjoyed even in FFXI, I remember very well the groans and gripes heard in linkshell again and again every time we were subject to some massive grind/timesink in order to progress)
They quit because the game launched incomplete, unpolished, with very little to do content-wise, and even more because some convenience elements that people have grown to take for granted in MMORPGs were completely absent (because inconvenience is, by itself, a timesink. Why do you think people cry for an Auction House so much? Why do they want a consignment merchant? Why do they want chocobos and airships? Because they want to use their playtime *actively* without *wasting* it).
Square Enix will bring population back by solving those problems, not by further *inconveniencing* their playerbase. I find it massively funy that some would believe that by making the game less active fun and more of a timewaste, any degree of success could be achieved.
Considering how much you seem to appreciate wasting your time, you were probably delighted by having to check every single bazar in the game to find stuff to buy in the market wards. That's SO hardcore, isn't it?
Did you feel let down when they implemented the search function?
On the contrary, if it would make people yelling about hardcore go away and let the forums return back to peace, I almost wish they would. The only ones that seem to be crying is a few self proclaimed "hardcores".
SE released things the way the did because they said they were, not because players asked. FFXI failed to bring in larger crowds because it was largely inacessable to a lot of potential players.
Asking for a hardcore server is a waste of resources at this point. The game is not even fully released yet. People need to just sit back and be patient until all the changes are made. If you cannot handle the fact that the game is effectively still in beta, then please go find something else to do for a while and come back in a few months.
Agree but wont happen in FFXIV the world is casual at least SE still going to make the game hard in some way.
