Look, it has been years, YEARS, since the first few fanboys have cried about this. And it still hasn't happened. Heck, Squeenix has remade almost every other Final Fantasy except VII, as if they were trying to tell you in no very subtle way without saying point blank "NO". I just don't get why you and so many others won't get the message. You know what, I won't even say it won't happen. Heck, anything's possible. It could also snow in hell, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that either.
K, we have the FFX remake in HD, the Kingdom Hearts stuff, okay, okay... tell me, are either of these two games as huge in cult and classic status as Final Fantasy VII? (sigh) On second thought, don't bother answering. We both know the answer. You're just not listening. It's not if they CAN do it that's the factor... of COURSE they could do it! Geez, I've seen Crisis Core, I know they can redo the game to look all Pixar-like pretty. It's if they SHOULD do it. And the answer is no, they shouldn't. Some things should be left alone for the sake of leaving it as it is. There are other ways for Squeenix to make cash. Messing with FFVII is not the smartest way, and could easily backfire in irrevocable ways. And it also helped pull a lot of people into the genre. Not everyone is an RPG gamer, so it doesn't appeal to everyone. "Because FF VII is a cult classic" is not a valid point for note remaking it. You don't do remakes of what didn't work.
We keep showing you similar situations where a remake is done, and your argument is still "because it's FF VII". I'm pretty sure no economic law says "Don't do FF VII remakes", but it's probably ignorance on my part.
By the way, you want another cult game ? Let's say "Zelda : Ocarina Of time". I'm pretty sure it was remade recently.
Maybe now you'll say "It's totally different, it's not Final Fantasy"...
Even the first two Pokemon games were remade...and they sold FAAAAAAR better than FF VII...pffff, even the two remakes combined sold more than FFVII...
