It should not be that hard to migrate character data to the new system. People that play want to keep playing. I log in and fish in my spare time, or level some jobs, ie make progress in the game. That is completely pointless if you're just going to wipe it. It's like playing FF1 half way through, then the battery in your cartridge dies and you have to start over.

There has to be another way.

2. My children live iwth me and my parents live 200 yards away. my kids walk through a field and some woods and they're in their back yard.
3. But it's the dead of winter. Outside is cold and nasty.
4. I am, but winter time I huddle down in my man cave and play video games. Like the squirrel spends the summer shoving his nuts into holes, I have done the same, so I can have a relaxing winter. I have 2 cords of wood split and will be stacked on the back porch when I put away the patio furnature, i'll be closing hte pool in 2 weeks, mowing hte lawn a final time. I'm tired, it's almost video game time.

Seriously though, it's taking as long as it is taking for reasons we can only guess at. The game will loose a few subs probably, but it will retain many, many more. I think curiosity at the very least will bring back most who leave, and I'm sure Square Enix isn't going to let us forget about it. I plan on finishing up any number of games I have put on hold, maybe finally finishing up that iOS game I was working on last summer. Who knows, the break may do everyone some good, let us look at ARR with fresh eyes, as it were.

Also squirrels put their nuts into holes all summer so they can eat during the winter and don't starve to death. The story behind hte squirrel working all summer so he can enjoy the winter, while the other critter plays all summer then starves to death in the winter because he didn't prepare for it.

You're just set to believe they're lying when they aren't. It does take a long time and can take a month or more to convert data to another format, especially depending on how the previous format was.

You're under the assumption they're using a basic format that you'd use for a website for example.
