It's because... if you go on JP forums... you'll see... they are
... special.
Median JP forumdronegoer thinks the biggest problem facing Astrologian right now is that Fall Malefic is missing 5 potency and if that is fixed everything is perfect.

Yeah every time I look at JP forums their requests are legitimately so bizarre. A lot of the healer feedback is not even gameplay but stuff like “when I use Afflatus Misery I would like to float in the air as well”. I don’t know how to describe it but it’s genuinely like witnessing people who don’t have any ideas being forced to come up with one on the spot or something.
The real spicy takes are all on 2ch and the now defunct blog.
I went and took a look since when Evolved first launched, they seemed to have zero idea. As a collectivist society they tend to post one megathread for many different takes, so it can be overwhelming to parse. Their general healer thread is reassuring, as they share many sentiments about Evolved WHM. Some of the takes in the specific job threads are concerning and seem very unintentionally harmful. Like "I've been playing x job lately, could it possibly have this thing the other jobs have". And the post will have likes. And yes it's often about stacking something onto an existing ability. Like stacking movespeed onto an instacast. Like what.
Also, they don't post a whole lot on the official forums. Like many recent posts in healers are only active due to Evolved and last had posts in 2025. A lot of the actual theorycrafters from what I have seen use specific websites and forums. Some who have followed the game a long time in Japan are extremely harsh/blunt and deeply unhappy with the developers, as in their posts would get them banned easily.
Mh yeah it's been a while, I had to recheck it.
- Reprisal on parry (big potency + 10% mitigation)
- The recast of Low Blow had a chance to reset on parry
- Dark Dance increased parry rate as a defensive (and evasion if used with Dark Arts, thus me mixing it up)
That's why I wonder where have all those cool tank defensives gone since then. They really had unique interactions, but CBU3 decided to sacrifice them on the altar of "if I can't MT and being attacked then I can't use that part of my kit" instead of finding solutions to it. And now we've come full circle with evolved main tanks and off tanks, I hope at least they've learned something from this.
To expand on this, in ARR Shield Swipe was a GCD that still needed the block to proc. There were 2 issues though, Shield Swipe was a DPS loss (only actually doing more damage than Fast Blade) and the pacify effect it had, was of limited usefulness. The only place I remember it being useful was in Ifrit Hard with the almost roomwide eruptions. Every major boss from then on was immune to pacify, so there wasn't any need for it.
Considering they're drastically changing the jobs and their button amount(and removing 2m Meta at that) this opens up for a lot of routes in the new design. I normally am not one to say "Wait and See" because I've been watching for the past while and seen that they made bad changes to certain roles, but this once I'm actually going to hold my breath because this is their last time to regain our trust(and not lie).
While I understand that the new design can be seen as having no fail states, you already create fail states by misusing abilities at the wrong time in fights anyhow as Melee; for Ranged that can be said of what little utility they have or rather in BRD's case, DoT/Song Upkeep. It's not set and forget, and from what we saw before BRD actually doesn't have to struggle fighting Army's just to get a proper 2m window with the party anymore. Are there some issues still at hand in regards to consolidation? Yes when we look at Interject/Low Blow being rolled into one button along with the system that flip flops dashes(which is essentially PvP Guardian next expac) when targeting enemy or targeting ally.
In general my opinion is they're all this way because they're setting up boss mechanics to be more intensive, or they're changing their damage formula altogether. Regardless, if they fumble this, XIV may not do so well in the future since they have the CEO's backing.
