You live your life how you want to. I don't want to hear about it. So, now that I know that this is a feature. Filtering this nonsense out is going to be the very first thing I do next time I log in.

Yeah i don't know what the big deal is. I have not ever once in my 8 years of playing seen someone say LGBT in say/shout/novice network. i've only seen it used in toxic spam invite FC macros, or erp venue recruitment.
This topics probly just a titanmen bait thread, or something lol
I'm gay And I'm thinking of blocking it too.
Yup search "term filter" in the patch notes. The way the feature works makes it clear it's intended for blocking a large amount of messages where the blacklist or mutelist would be inconvenient to use, such as spam, ads and RMT. One can choose to filter up to 10 words in public channels, emotes and/or tells.
It seems to me like the /tell RMT spam is not as bad as it once used to be so one could also leave tells unblocked in case any friend decides to use words like "gil" or "club" in regular conversation.
You seem to be under the mistaken impression the filter makes characters vanish. NO, that is the blacklist that does that. Filtering a word removes SPAM from the shout an say chat. And the LGBT RP community is one of the main sources for venue/club RP shouts. How are you going to personally know if someone blocks the letters LBGT or LBGT+? This isn't making a character go invisible, its making a shout spam vanish from the chat log.
Ok, well that makes it sound like I lack empathy. :p
I look at it this way: if everyone went around constantly inserting their orientation and the groups they relate to in every other statement then conversations would get annoyingly inefficient and tiring almost immediately. It's unnecessary. You're a human, I'm a human, it doesn't require a biography; let's move on to the actual material that matters, like where we're going for lunch today.
I'm gay IRL and I just don't want venue and FC ads. You won't even know someone is using the filter anyway so it's not censorship really it's more like an ad block.
