You know what Final Fantasy XIV desperately needs?

I miss those classes as well (though in xi rdm kinda took over the spot of the little brother you don't want tagging around) but what i really miss and the reason im playing XI again and not XIV is things like dynamis, trial weapons, easier relics and most of all, PET CLASSES. The new summon system were going to have is a huge disappointment to be and this game seriously needs some pet class love.

What I'm talking about is the fact that DRK and RDM, as per previous final fantasy games, got carbon copies of spells black mage would get. The problem with that is that those spell slots were entirely wasted in the case of DRK because of casting times, low damage, and low tier spell access. So DRK has 18 wasted spell slots that are there for nothing other than to take up space because casting = lost swing time on auto attacks, loss of DPS because of the lower damage and wasted MP to boot.

My take on correcting this is focusing on application relevant to the job in question. A black mage would obviously use Fire for purely destructive ends. A dark knight might use Fire to weaken their enemy with hopes that it would help their next attack do more damage. A red mage might use Fire in conjunction with melee strikes or weapon skills (possibly even as a "finisher" in a combo). All three would require variations of the same spell to meet each job's needs; a big super nuke for BLM, an instant-cast debuff for DRK, and a short/instant cast spell that can be weaved in between melee strikes for RDM.

ehhhh drk didn't get any spells to use in ffiv the most you had was soul eater and and darkness. The only time dark got spells to use which was in 3 and that was actually white magic spells

this is the true history of dark knight it wasn't until 11 that they got low level elemental type magic

I myself wouldn't mind seeing more of a dark that's a mixture from all of it minus the ability to use spells to give one's soul truly over to darkness and evil

now I want to play IV again... dang it

I think they need to play FFT and just go from there....

They implement Red Mage, the way it should. I'll bring Hyrist of Midgardsormr into Eorza.

If not, then I won't.

Plenty of things this game needs, liking some of the ones I'm seeing mentioned here. Not liking some of the others. (Open world PvP only in designated PvP zones. I don't want it impacting my day to day game, thanks.)

I've a suggestion of my own when it comes to something this game really should have, but I'm still debating on whether or not it deserves it's own thread. It's kinda specific, but kinda not. More like an area concept. Something I haven't seen done in any of my MMORPGs except maybe SWTOR - but it IS something that has been done in a Single Player Final Fantasy Game one more than one occasion.

Might as well just go for it. Even if it's a bit narrow, it will be more relevant (to itself; how could it not be?) that when appended to another thread. At worse a self-styled forum mod without moderator powers will be mad at you.
