The only thing I can count on y’shtola for is “dying” and miraculously getting better yet again. The other muppets aren’t that much better - urianger’s liable to stab my dude in the back to add another couple of hours to the story, red and blue alpharius need shoved in a locker and left in old sharlayan and I guess estinien is ok. The only competent scions are tataru and krile, both of which are non combatants and too scary to bring along.

You mean telling me stuff that either I already know or will find out in another, roundabout way? She's exposition, nothing more.

Name the one thing Y'shtola was good for, that no other character could replicate, that we would not have come up with an explanation for otherwise (bonus points if the explanation actually mattered for the endgoal anyway and wasn't just fluff to frame the event), and she didn't have to die for.

Y'shtola's really only there because she's one of our two resident magical experts, so she's there only out of necessity...and because she wants to find a way to return to the First because she wants to be with Runar.
