I would love if every single extreme fight and above had a random AoE that would happen at random intervals. The cast bar would be 5 seconds and it would force healers to keep people semi topped or be in fear of the party getting wiped by random back to back damage.

But that doesn't seem inclusive.

Just imagine getting past a heal check and leaving everyone at 10% hp because there's no mechanic for the next 45 seconds only for you to get hit up with a random AoE and get a party wipe. Where were the heals bruv?

This is pretty much how every game with true healing has done it. Your job is to heal therefore get hit with these dumbass mechanics that happen randomly regardless of who has the boss aggro.

Yes.
Nice clue making it look likely we don't have more DPS options.

I think that's more of a clue that SCH may be the next job getting a rework. If they've reached a point to where they can't touch it much without fear of something breaking, then they're gonna have to tear SCH down and rebuild it.

The idea that Yoshida said they didn't had much to do with the Archetype of the Tactician/Strategist is just so dissapointing.

Scholar should have all ways of area of effect heals, changing the very ground the party fights on.
Fairies could have recived a very similar treatment than Summons: Summoning a Fairy like Titania for example for a few seconds or something similar.
Scholar should have ENFEEBLEMENT effects added, have much damage through DoTs and increase vulnerabilities, reduce defense and offense capacity of the enemies.
While Sage could focus on big strong single target shields, Scholar should be able to place many weaker shields at the same time.

There is no way you can get away saying there is not much to do with Scholar: Giant Fairy, Fill the arena with AoE effects: Heals, Shields, Defense & Ofensive reduction areas and do damage through DoTs and conditions. Instead single attacks like Broil.

I think Scholar should be remade into our Chemist job. It's already halfway to it with Succor, Broil, Energy Drain, Energy Siphon, and if we added back Miasma and Bio. The new peloton feels like a speed elixir. Alchemists are already pretty solidly tied to crafting scholar weapons. It already has a very alchemical spell aesthetic. The level 50-60 quests jive very well with a chemist background.

The fairies alone just aren't enough to build out an entire job. But supplement them with some more alchemical attacks/buffs, and we have an extremely flavorful take on chemist.

I wouldn't mind it being repurposed as Alchemist that way they could completely separate SMN and SCH like they want.

You can total have a class totally focused around fairies in every single aspect, they just shit the bed.

Well okay, you could make an "all the fairies" job, but they never did. I'm guessing because fairies only have niche appeal for people who love cutesy things, and they needed to counterbalance it with "serious nerd" vibes to broaden interest. I wholly admit that the job fantasy does nothing for me. It just feels like a SMN with one pet instead of three. Or the beginnings of a cool arcane/chemical class that took an abrupt left turn into lalaland. I never quite understood why this was the particular direction they evolved the scholar from Tactics/XI.

The peloton is a step in the right direction. Even if we don't get a chemist class, I think adding abilities that are a) tactical in nature and b) unrelated to fairies at least bring the class more in line with its origins.

Yeah that's true this is the only party buff we've gotten since rescue that effects the party in a way that doesn't fall under damage increases and damage reduction. It'll be very cool to have a sprint for the entire party(hopefully) for certain mechanics while still having your actual sprint up.
