The great streamer Asmongold is joining FFXIV

So, are we going to start a pool? I have some faith, I think he's going to get to around 40, but he's going to be distracted by yellow quests and wonder why every dungeon he does syncs him.

This is the impression I am under most of the time as well. Jerks are out there, and sure I've run into a few. But it is always solely by chance.

I mean you can insinuate. I rarely ever talk in game but still get the toxic kind of people. Just yesterday i ran into a tank who got pissy because the monk accidentally pulled the boss so she refused to tank the entire fight and just rp walked around.

I'm not sure what they're on about, either. You can see plenty of unseemly behavior just by branching out of your FC. I've been in plenty of FCs that had some really nasty individuals in it. Not to mention PF groups. I have experienced worse, to the point a dead bird was mailed to my house, but FFXIV's community can be just as bitey as any other.

I just greatly dislike the stance of,”well it doesn’t happen to me so it doesn’t exist, or it’s because you act like a jerk, you’re asking for it.” Like...no. I’ve been through multiple toxic instances in this month alone. It’s why i don’t talk ever in content because 1.i’m afraid i’m going to get banned for saying the wrong thing but 2. a lot of people just seem to have a short fuse and snap at every little thing.

It may exist, but will everyone's experience be dictated by those experiences?

There's a crime in every city, so everyone lock their doors, especially when they're not around, but that doesn't mean everyone has a constant fear of being a victim of a criminal.

If you see someone else being toxic, then report them. You don't fight criminals by merely complaining about them, but not calling the police on them.

And if you're afraid of getting banned, then the problem is more likely you. That's not someone else being toxic. That's you. That said, you're also part of this community as long as you're playing the game. So if you have fear of being banned because of what you may say/do in the game, then it might be a self-fulfilling prophecy to say there is toxicity in the game.

It wasn't directed at you specifically. Like Lanadra said, it just seems to be the case more often than not that players having these problems regularly end up being the problem themselves. It's not an attack on your character. I don't know you and your behavior well enough to really know or, frankly, care what you do or don't do.

Then you either have terrible luck or...well...

This community isn't the shining ray of hope and friendliness that some may claim underneath it all, but it's also not anywhere near as bad as others also claim. Overall my experiences through the years have been positive. I'd be willing to bet there's a good reason behind that though.

I still do not understand the admiration for this kind of people. Cannot people think by themselves that need a famous one to dictate their way? Joining won't make any change, as any other content creators hasn't done neither.

Still, he will be welcome. The more players the better.

I do report them, so let’s not assume i don’t okay? Don’t really see how the problem is me if i’m afraid of being banned with the way the ToS is in this game but nice gaslighting. It’s not a secret it sucks. Yes i talk about it on the forums but it’s not complaining, it’s called bringing awareness. Tired of seeing all these people act like the community is a saint when the toxicity is prevalent in this very thread alone. Don’t see how it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy though lmao. Clearly no. Reaction channels ascended into popularity because people need their opinions validated, or if they don't have one, they need someone to process and elaborate an opinion for them to nod and assent.
