Just wanted to pipe in here and say that I'm experiencing the same intermittent R0s and my ISP is Mediacom, not Cox. Tonight they are so bad, that I can't even sign on for a couple minutes. I played 1.19 fine, but 1.19a started my frequent disconnects. I'm having a Mediacom tech guy investigate the issue. ISP people have already been to my house and couldn't find a problem. Nothing I've tried has made a different. Disabling every type of antivirus, antispyware, forwarding all ports, making myself the DMZ host...nothing worked. Pretty sure this is now an SE-compatibility issue.

I don't understand how it can be an ISP Issue if we are on different ISP's I am with Pipex and I never had this problem until 1.19a... Like the rest of you.
Its something that has went wrong with SE it has to be, it can't be our ISP's if we all suffer after patch 1.19a was implemented.

I am also with Pipex and i also get this problem. Often i will log on with R:0 right from the get go. It will stay R:0 often for several minutes at a time (1-30!) before getting around 5-10 seconds of recive, then back to R:0 for another lengthy duration.
The wierd this is even though it is constantly R:0 i can chat with linkshell memebrs and friends in /tell fine in real-time.
I know it is not my connection becuase chatting with friends on skype at same time with no connection issues, and I can log onto FFXI with no issues. the only thing that seems to have this error is FFXIV.
All ports to FFXIV are allowed, gone through all their troubleshoot help guides etc and none of it works.
I tried using command prompt to ping the servers during my R:0 and apparently there is a 0% packet loss, so I have no idea what is going on.
SE need to at least acknowledge that this problem exists and are at least looking into it. With 0 replys from SE it just makes it seem as though they are completely ignoring this problem.

Well I don't know much about the other ISPs that have been mentioned, but are they possibly owned by cox, or maybe they are using cox network to provide service? IDK, but when the connection got real bad last night i did a "ping -n 100 google.com" a few times. I noted that i was getting over 100ms ping to just google.com. I've remained pretty set on it being all SEs fault, which it may be somehow, somewhere. But right now, if im having problems with google at the same time, then that points the finger elsewhere. idk how many of you have done a ping test to google, when things get really bad on XIV, but I'd suggest you do. I would really like to synchronize efforts to test ping and such with others at night, but I'm not really sure how to go about it. I'm really concerned because it seems like all of us are all around the nation, and not in the same spot.. If its that big of a problem, then its going to be very difficult to fix no doubt. It could have some very worrisome implications for the network in the states.

me and friends are experiencing the same. Even though we are sharing one connection, one will d/c while others are fine.

For cox here's a forum where you will see similar complaints about the cox connection. You'll see numerous threads about slowdowns etc. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/coxhsi
I'm beginning to gather some info that would point that cox has done a massive overall in how they do routing. But atm I don't have any good thread to point to you guys. Its just from reading so many of them, that's what it is starting to sound like.

I was doing pings to Google during the time I was having issues as you suggested Drako and I was getting 30ms response times, so I don't think that's the problem.
-
how many ping requests did it do? I had done a 100 requests at a time, and while half the time i got normal pings, other times I got pings over 100ms.. If you just do a standard ping, it will only ping 4 times and not get a big enough sample.

Hai Guysies!
I've had Cox out 4 times now, and have been on the phone to them numerous times, even have a field supervisor and technicians direct number, (that's how much I've called). As I've previously mentioned, they've found nothing their side of things, the last technician told me to ping cox.net when I am experiencing R0 and if the results are fine, then it's nothing they can do, so I ping quite often now, even with the hugest lag spikes lasting 4 mins I ping cox.net at 30ms, so I really don't know what do anymore.
I do know I have a LS mate that's been experiencing similar issues to me, not quite as bad, that has a different ISP.
Friday and Saturday night were surprisingly OK for me, didn't R0 much at all, Sunday night was awful, I had to log off, started at 10:00pm EST like clockwork again, couldn't farm tapers anymore as I kept getting stuck at gates not opening for me and coming out of spikes dead!
and....still no response from the devs I see, do you think we could get one sometime this week?
and please don't tell me to restart my modem and router ;p

I really would like to synchronize a ping test with peeps at probably 8:00pm PST - 10:00pm CST tonight. Then screenshot and post the results here. I think I'm going to have everyone post all there info again. Like which network card is in there comp, OS, location, ISP. ETC. First I'd like to get a idea of who all can participate.
As I've said earlier Pia its nothing to do with you, or your equipment, its outside. :p
