I had one hell of venture behind me. And it didn’t end good so I got some time to rest. Master called me into the house of his good friend. I came in. He was standing there in the middle of the room talking to his friend who played the piano.
“I have something to tell you!”
“What would your wish be?”
“I don’t have wishes! I have commands, demands, assignations!” looks like I’m getting fired.
“You have demands? Or commands? Common, stop playing around! That’s not like you at all.”
His friend smiled at me and waved that I shouldn’t take him too seriously. I’m not so sure what to think about her. Most of the time she and her retainers are too easygoing. Never saw them take anything serious. Why is my master so often with her? She is slowing down his progress! He could be The master of black arts!
“I’m not playing around! My assignation for today is..”
“Bring him anything, but show him that you are one hell of a retainer he can be proud to have!” What she said surprised me, did I get a second chance?
“Show me what you made of.”
“Yes master! I won’t fail you again!”
“I trust, you won’t.” Before master went out he looked at me.
“Don’t kill yourself by trying too hard.”
She stood up too, took her sword and poked me.
“He worries too much, because you just like him. A too hotheaded blackmage. So don’t get so beaten up like last time.”
They left the house.
“But what should I get to proof myself?”
Once I heard master talking about the Moogles and a place called Thornmarch. He was saying something like it’s pure hell there! When I bring something from that hell it should be proof enough.
So I found myself a party that wanted to conquer that hellish place. After I went inside and saw those fluffy oversized things I could not understand why is this place such a hell. After 5 minutes I understood the reason, but there was no way back. They sang, they squeaked and that running around! Why can’t they stand still in one place and let get killed right away? Why that squeaking? Why? After many hours of that squeaking sound that started to ring in my ears we defeated the Mog King. I grabbed something and run away from there! Never again that squeaking! When I came back my master was already waiting. He was sitting on a big sofa and talking with her again.
“You don’t look so good. Where did you go?”
“Thornmarch”
Both started to laugh. I think I know why.
“So?”
“I brought you this...” I took out what I grabbed... that’s not the Maleficent Mogstaff! I grabbed the wrong item! That‘s Malevolent Mogwand.
“Well I will accept this as an apology.”
Master was still laughing, but he looked happy. I think he isn’t angry anymore about that fish I brought last time.

Just another cycle....
It was 5:25am, I'd finally got done doing all the previous evening's tasks and was just laying down to get a couple hours of sleep before 'taskmaster' Azaroth returns. No such luck would be had on this day. Miss Azaroth showed up around 8am and handed me a piece of parchment with some rough notes scribbled on it and a scratched out map of the South Shroud with a little X in the middle. Next to the marking was written "Go here and await further instruction". She then stormed off mumbling about having to meet her group of friends at the pub in Idyllshire. I wasn't sure what even to do. I'd never been asked to leave the city before. I packed up a bag with some lunch, put on the "gear" that Miss Azaroth had donated to me and headed out. Two airships and a chocobo later I was nearing the location on the map. The area was heavily wooded and a bit creepy I must admit. There didn't seem to be anyone, or anything around. I arrived at where the marking was and took a seat on a large fallen tree.
Nearly an hour had passed when the tiniest lalafel I've ever seen walked up to me causally and said, "You're late, inadeqately garbed and a bit scrawny looking for the task at hand." I said nothing. He then handed me another map. A map unlike any I had ever seen before. It simply had a line with an arrowhead, and as I moved the paper the arrow pointed the way to go. Under his breath the miniature man said, "Good ridden" and scurried away. Something started to feel a bit off about this whole adventure. I couldn't quite understand why Miss Azaroth would send me out here like this. I was always her errand runner, but always in the city. The now distant, safe, warm, comforting city. It was about noon, so I figured I'd have my lunch prior to heading out following this odd map. An apple and a hard boiled chicken egg later I was ready to go.
I started following the arrow and it headed me north over some hills and large mounds. Onward it continued into a trench of sorts which ended at a large open portcullis in the side of a hill. Inside the maw of the mound was a room with many animated walking skeletons!! I was terrified. What was this place? Why have I been sent here? The arrow guided me onward into the room. The horrifying creatures seemed to ignore me as I walked among them and then slowly a large door on the west wall opened and the map began to glow brightly.
The next thing I recall is being in a long damp tunnel with sounds of screams and scurrying coming from all directions. I slowly continued to follow the map. It finally lead me to a room off the main hall and in the corner sat a small box and a scroll case. I walked up to the box and the arrow on the map disappear and the paper it was on disintegrated into dust. I opened the box slowly. Inside were about 10 to 20 receipts for purchases and services I had run for Miss Azaroth all with red marks and notes hastily written on each of them. The terror set in. I picked up the scroll case, opened the end of it and pulled out the piece of parchment.

The door of the room I was in swung closed with a thunderous bang and a magical seal barred it shut. This was the day I ended my employment, and became a full time resident in Toto-Rak.

The retainer wearing a full Dreadwyrm set before Miala shook his head. "Nah, just rich- He paid for a carry."
"I see."
The pair were interrupted by the booming voice of a male highlander. Miala recalled that his nickname was XxCloudLeonhartxX.
"Everybody ready?"
At nods from the assembled team, the 8 retainers strode into Thornmarch with confidence to lay their eyes upon the great king.

A soft Roegadyn's voice carried through the silence. "That was the messiest kill of Thex I've ever seen."
A Lalafell voice snorted and shouted "You have no idea the things I've seen!"
XxCloudLeonhartxX couldn't help but contribute. "Right? Can't you lot move out of the triangles?"
Miala couldn't help but round on him, "You died to them like 5 times!"
The argument exploded, but the highlander pocketed his Kingly Whisker and shrugged. "Whatever, see you later guys."
Miala wasn't happy with this turn of events at all. To make matters worse, she'd rolled a 1 on the ribbon. She knew what she had to do, and pushed past the throng through the exit portal. When XxCloudLeonhartxX departed, she made sure to follow him to his private quarters in the Goblet to lay in wait in the bushes.
There he was, with that whisker- looking more smug than Miala thought possible. Well, he wasn't going to stay smug for long. After gaining access to his chambers, it took only a short time for her axe to cut down all of his wallpaper and for her to bundle it up nicely. The Lalafell smirked a little as she headed back to her own quaters.
"This should do fine."
Miala answered her summons wearing the same expression, and after seeing the wallpaper the grey Miqo'te infront of her gave a withering look.
"What did you do?"
Miala drew her head back a bit. "Just because I'm amused I have to have done something?"
Freya cocked her head a little and seemed amused herself. "Knowing how sassy you are, pretty much yeah."
"Fine." Miala recounted tale, and afterwards Freya was wearing a smirk aswell.
"Nice. So are you level 60 yet?"
"No."
"Fair enough. Fancy getting some more biast scales?"
"You know what the drop rate on those things is."
Freya handed over a token. "That's why I'm asking you to get them."
Miala sighed. "Fine... for now. But you're asking a bit much, considering what I'm paid."
"I also need 2 adamantite nuggets."

"Time to Mine!" Lulabelle squealed as she readies her Mammon Supra and Forager's Sledgehammer, giggling cheekily as she got to work. After counting the right amount of Wyvernskin Maps and Ice Crystals, Lulabelle couldn't help but immerse herself in the view of Coerthas Western Highlands."Ahh dreamy, I wish Phi-pai was here." Lulabelle gleefully said as she set off back to Falcon's Nest. SUDDENLY..... Lulabelle is knocked back by a torrent of fire, "AAAAAAHHH!" She screamed. Lulabelle is confronted by an obese, pink-colored wyrm called fluffy. Although she's the first cousin of Phi Luneth, The Warrior of Light, Lulabelle is only kind and charitable whilst Phi is strict and courageous. Consumed by tears and panic, Lulabelle toughens up and slaps the wyrm across the face. Fluffy lets out an agonizing roar and explodes into a mountain of Fat Cats. "NYYYAAAA!!" The Fat Cats meowed as Lulabelle is cheered on by the Temple Knights and Dragoons sent to rescue her. "Praise Halone! This is the best day of our lives you have our thanks young miss." The temple knight joyfully said as everyone was greeted by kisses, cuddles and purrs from the fat cats. "Wow. Am I dreaming?" Lulabelle questioned as she departed home. "Phi's gonna love this! hehehee bye-bye!" Lulabelle said ecstatically not knowing about the loot she forgot.

Titan thumps his fists together, the Paladin readies their defenses, the battle is afoot.
I have to be cautious, first it's the tank, may as well take down the big one first, it wont take much, a simple misstep, may as well live up to the fact that most think I'm stupid. titan slams his fist on the ground, aiming at me, but I'm “out of position”, the paladin is hit, caught unawares they are knocked backwards and over the edge... Easy.
the warrior is quick to take up the mantle with a battle cry. Titan begins to increase the amount of attacks he directs to the warrior so healers have their work cut out, their attention is focused, allowing me to move more freely.
Next the bard, titan roars and the whole plinth begins to shake apart, as white beams of light emerge from the ground, it's a subtle shove, the others didn't see it but the bard felt it, they stagger, it's a slow realization but the ground vanishes from beneath them and they are gone.
Got to try and take out 2 at once, I glance at Titan, he obliges and both the black mage and the scholar find themselves cocooned in rock. Eos is frantically scratching at the rock and I run to her side to help but the warrior yells "no this one" pointing to the other, so I jump forward in an explosion of dragonfire... love my fake indecision... both rocks begin to glow with white light, as they explode the 2 trapped bodies fall to the floor, Eos lets out a scream and vanishes.
Titan slams his hands deep into the ground ripping the earth apart flipping it and the Warrior is dead with a critical hit. Raising his hand as if summoning forth something from below, the ground shimmers like liquid under each of us, I jump once again, pulling the white mage to safety. the monk also jumps clear, least they think so. Titan is surprisingly quick, he sends out another shockwave in the monk's direction, they can't dodge this one.
Then Silence...
The white mage looks at me puzzled “why has the fight stopped?” I remove my helmet. they can see the venom, the malice in my eyes, I intended this to happen.
Their expression changes as they can feel the life draining from them as I push my lance deep into their stomach. "why?" they gasp, “for my Viola” I say quietly, and with a jolt I twist the blade and they fall to the floor.
Titan is uncontrollable, beating his chests and thumping the ground like a massive rocky silver-back Gorilla displaying his strength.
“For your Viola” he booms and a pair of earrings land in my hand, I clench my fist and smirk a subtle nod of acknowledgement before jumping backwards.
The hour is up, time to return from my venture. -

Nald stepped in the shallow waters of Bloodshore. He froze as he felt something scrape on his feet, as the water was reaching for his waist. Once again he recalled the conversation he had with his sister.
“You should just ask him, and you would be a Gladiator in no time. You know Zanar, he would only be glad to help you fulfill your dream.”
But he couldn’t help his pride, he wouldn’t ask such a thing. It all hailed from some years ago, when they were leaving their adoptive family to go to Ul’dah, were Nald was planning to become a recruit at the Gladiator’s Guild. They were attacked by some bandits and a newborn adventurer came to their rescue with nothing more than a thaumaturge stick in hand. Surprisingly enough he scared the bandits off, but they managed to take with them all of the two lalafells belongings. The kind adventurer, Zanar, offered them some Gil to help them reach their destination. He would have refused, but a glance at her exhausted sister convinced him to set his pride aside.
Once in Ul’dah he couldn’t afford to follow his dream, and to provide for her sister he became a Retainer. Great was his surprise when he became assigned to that very Zanar that saved them in the desert! He finally had the chance to repay his debt.
“Tell me, milord, what can I do for you?”
“You know you can call me Zanar, right? We’re friends.”
“Shut up and let me do my job. What do you want?”
He needed fish. Of course, Zanar couldn’t know that Nald was frightened by fishes, seaweed and water in general, and of course Nald wouldn’t let him know. He wanted to please his friend and execute his duty.
Though two full years had passed and he had become quite a fisher, he still couldn’t feel comfortable when his feet were submerged in water.
“I wanted to become a Gladiator. But life made me a fisher. And sure as the Seven Hells, I’m gonna be the bloody best at it. For my friend. For my sister.” he thought, while walking away with the three big Gigant Clams he had caught that night.
