I'm thinking of giving my bird a name from Norse Mythology. Probably going to choose one from the list:

Habrok (the best of hawks)
Fjalar (rooster that foretold Ragnarok)
Vidofnir (bird that resided in the world tree, Yggdrasil)
Sigurd (victorious guardian)
Magniurd (strong fate)
Svaldilfari (father of Sleipnir)
Dagrmani (personified day moon)

Hmm....have to think a bit more.
