I've been trying it out on a dummy. Personally, it's fairly close but I'm still pulling about 5 DPS lower on average. Now granted I just swapped the tops, so that may not be the greatest comparison as I may also need to re-tweak my build in general to try and take advantage of the stats.

Thats depressing, tbh. In WoW secondaries become more "fun" than primaries at later levels, and you can truly get ridiculous things (like 100% crit, etc). Oh well.

Hopefully things are better in 3.0 with Spell Speed increasing DOT damage for SMN. Crit/Spd could be neat with the Enhanced Pet Proc and would have amazing synergy with Ifrit.

Hey all, I love the discourse going on here and it has really been helpful for me lately as I've only been playing this class for a couple of months. Couple of questions, as I might have missed the posts on it.

Recently I have decided not to get the relic, so I will be going for BiS using the Dreadwyrm book. I've seen a couple of lists using this, but I would like to add the crafted boots in my gearset, and possibly even another crafted piece if it would be a dps increase.

Can any of you folks help me with a list which would take this into account, and as well provide the reasoning for the materia melded? I have looked at Havenchilds gear, and I notice alot of spellspeed melded, so it confused me a bit. Thanks!

The reason I melded 15 spellspeed on a ring is to reach 371 SS in my build which there isn't really anything else you can meld on it worth mentioning. You don't need the ACC as you have plenty elsewhere, and you can only otherwise meld DET, SS or Piety on a ring. A lot of people have questioned me as to why I've did this and there's two reasons.

The first is my opener. With Ifrit-egi I do:

Raging Strikes -> Int Pot -> Bio II -> Miasma -> Bio -> Rouse -> Fester -> Ruin II -> -> Potent Poison Pot -> Swiftcast -> ShadowFlare -> Spur -> Ruin II -> Enkindle -> Ruin II -> Fester -> Ruin II -> Ruin II -> Bio

That second Bio right there has a high chance of falling off if you're not at 371+ SS. It's also fairly tight but to get the Ruin II after Fester within Raging Strikes in that opener you'll need the spell speed.

The second reason altogether is Shadowflare casting time. It's abysmally slow below 370SS, and personally I felt I was missing out on damage because of long Shadowflare casts.

I see, that makes sense. Anyway you could help me with my other question as well regarding a BiS list using the dreadwyrm grimoire? I have both dread boots and kirimu boots. Should I add the platinum ring? If so how should I meld these two items? Thx

Skip the ring in your case if you decide to use the crafted shoes.

This is one of the possible final builds I was going to sit at with my zeta outside of my current one. Ultimately if you ever do get a zeta with crit/det capped, this will be one of the best builds you can make. It works with the Dreadwyrm book as well.

Hmm, should I really be using Flaming Crush single target on cooldown? This thread has been really interesting. I changed my gear set and parsed 12 points higher on a dummy.

It has the same potency as Crimson Cyclone. The only reason you may want to delay it is if an AoE situation is slightly possible or to couple a Rouse/Spur with it.

You mean Crimson Cyclone lol. Also another question, how did you come up with 520 Crit minimum? My current build is the same as yours except the crafted items, and I am working on Zeta. I have a perfect meld Apocalypse. Therefore my stats are 652 Int 371 Det 495 Crit. I was thinking of swapping the Dread Bracelet for the Poetics and gamble with the 1 lower Acc by positioning my pet at flank (T13 problem only). The alternative is swapping Poetics neck for Dread but I shudder at the overload of Accuracy and all those wasted stats.

Even though my Critical Hit is considered low by what you have stated, I parsed considerably higher than my original build.
