it was never officially stated that there would only be 3 jobs, they did not say that even once unless they did during the Japanese Fan Fest which I did not see. but they didn't say that at the Vegas or London Fan Fests. infact at the Vegas Fan Fest they said many jobs. which could mean 3 but it could mean more. we don't know.
we didn't even know there would be 3 jobs.
all we knew was a tank and a healer were confirmed. and they semi confirmed the tank was going to be DRK during the Vegas Fan Fest then confirmed it at the London Fan Fest.
they mentioned a gun weilder but because of how they did it people assumed it would be Agent and would be a healer.

they might give us more than just those 3 or they might stick to focussing on content for the expansion.

I asked for a dragonrace. I asked for Engineer with guns. I asked for Dark Knight. I'd liked to have see a DOW healer but Astrologian looks cool and seems like the best they could work out for a "time mage" which plenty of people asked for.

Race. Well we could have a kitsune type race but that's pretty close to Miqote. So I'm going to ask for magitech robot race. Like warforged in D&D. If you need justification in FF lore Vivi.
Classes; Dancer(DOW healer). Red Mage(DOM tank, I drink in your tears!), and Samurai(MoW Dps)

Plot will be around Ala Migo and the ocean so we can have swimming.

Its funny, but I voted in that poll. I voted for DRK and a reptillian beastman.
I got both. Totally happy at this point.

I definitely agree with not including another caster DD. Blackmage having an infinite mana pool makes them fairly simple and Summoner being a dot class is... blaaaaah, in my opinion. I don't have any plans to play a caster, but the game is missing a caster that has depth. They've shown a lot of promise in future job design with Ninja, though. I am definitely looking forward to anything new they put out.

I love my SCH too much to jump ship. But the Machinest might replace my BLM secondary job...

Only way SE could of satisfied the majority of players, would be if they added both a gun DPS and a Caster DPS...

I'm not saying they should have done that, because that's just overkill... My point is that if they added a Caster DPS which people here wants(me included), I'm sure there would be another thread like this, only complaining about not getting another ranged DPS, and that BRD is not a true all out damage dealer. To be fair, there is only one ranged DPS, and BRD is kind of leaning on the support side, while there at least are 2 Casters with different ways of playing.

DRK and Astro are the coolest jobs of them all IMO, and that is only good for the player-base.

Don't forget that we will get new abilities for all other jobs too in the expansion, and they might change jobs more than you think.
