That's ... after reading it a second time is confusing
Rannie... I hope you realize that your healer play style fits the description WTFWHM more than the WTFWHM described by the OP.
To all new healers : Please do not ever ever heal in Cleric Stance so that "you'll aggro less".
Really tell that to all the parties I've been in where no one has died. I don't stay in Cleric stance the WHOLE time and compare the heals with anyone in high level gear even when it is level sync'd down. You might thing it's WTFWHM but Comparing someone who's lvl 50 and in ilvl100+ gear healing in a lvl 17 dungeon and the tank is just a gld. You're doing what you can to help the party as well as run through it quickly enough but not enough NOT to help teach the new tanks and such how to keep hate.
I'm also helping out with the dps.
There's no way in hell I'm going to stay in cleric stance in anything above the three early dungeons that's just plain stupid.
There is factually no situation where healing in Cleric Stance is helping out, regardless of tank idiocy:
Situation 1 : Tank does not use flash/overpower on multiple mobs.
Explanation : It does not matter if you heal in Cleric Stance or not, the moment you cast a heal, all other mobs will come and eat your face.
Situation 2 : Tank is using Riot Blade combo because its more deeps.
Explanation : I'll wager the dps will pull aggro faster than your healing will >_>, so you're not "helping" the tank by healing in Cleric Stance.
Additional information:
"Really tell that to all the parties I've been in where no one has died" --> Sorry to say this is not an achievement.
"I'm also helping out with the dps." --> This does not explain why you must heal in Cleric Stance.
I understand that you'll switch out of CS to provide bigger heals or something, but the main issue is:
You should not ever ever heal in Cleric Stance on purpose, no matter what the situation is.
Wasn't saying that was an achievement honey was stating it as a matter of fact.
Hmm, so you prefer to heal for less in cleric's stance, which cuts your healing to like a third than heal outside of cleric's stance for enmity issues.
Fact: Whether you heal 3 times in cleric's stance or once outside of cleric's stance, it generates the same enmity.
So while you're in cleric's stance, you'd have to heal right off the bat. Out of cleric's Stance you can wait till the tank took 1k+ damage before you decide to heal. If you heal for 300 while in cleric's stance, it generates as much enmity as a tank dealing 75 damage auto attack/non-enmity generator* while in their tanking stance. Unless you're a level 50 in a level 18 dungeon, there's no way your cleric's stance healing is justified. "Achievement honey" or not, it's just retarded.
* enmity generators would be Skull Sunder, Savage Blade etc. which provide additional enmity.
Edit: For comparison, an uncleric'd cure for 1300 generates as much enmity as a tomahawk/shield lob dealing 108 damage or 325 damage from fast blade/heavy swing with the same conditions
I tend to cringe when healers with sufficient downtime and bountiful MP decide that their time is best spent casting unnecessary heals to appear busy or simply standing around, not even bothering with the pretense.
Healer DPS can make a significant difference even in end-game content, and it's huge in faceroll dungeons where healing requirements are minimal to begin with.
How to DPS as WHM in dungeons.
1. Turn Cleric Stance on and DPS until the someone needs healing (protip: tanks do not need to be at full Hp every waking moment)
2. Turn Cleric Stance OFF when someone needs to be healed (Divine Seal helps here)
3. Make liberal use of Shroud of Saints/X-ethers (btw I'm a 3* crafter), and bring food/pots/etc.
Outside of Boss Fights: Keep tank focus targeted and check the use of his cooldowns.
Boss Fights (and enemies that might do something nasty like Self-Destruct): Focus target on them and react accordingly.
Make sure to have CC skills leveled: Swiftcast and Eye for Eye.
When I run dungeons I use HQ*2 food(pineapple ponzecake) or NQ*3(saurtorte), HQ X-Ethers, and HQ X-Mind Pots. Also its nice to brings Antidotes, Spine Drops, and other status meds in case you want to save on Mp.
I'm of the opinion that one shouldn't DPS as WHM, because it forces the other healer's carry the dps WTFWHM.
There's a few specific cases where the DPS is more valuable due to the timing of the fight, but don't be DPS'ing as WHM if another WHM is getting overwhelmed. The point of having multiple healers is to conserve MP by healing in tandem. Not by both WHM's attempting to DPS at the same time and wiping the party, or continuously letting the actual DPS players die. When you spend 10 seconds not healing that lets the DPS die, it costs the party more DPS by taking healing time away from the party and spending time reviving party members you neglect.
