Time to abandon the FFXI mindset that dictates that THF is a throwaway class whose sole purpose is to increase treasure drop rates. If it ever gets added to XIV, I expect it to actually be a viable DPS. Gimme some of that WoW Rogue action.

right... alot of those builds were situational or solo friendly... others required you to cajole your partymates into proving its worth. I can tell you right now, no one complained about me PLD/RDM'ing. The sad this is that the OPPORTUNITY for awesome/fail builds or the argument/proving otherwise isnt even possible in this game.

THF was about more than just Treasure in XI btw, but that was and has been it's primary purpose since FF3. That's why it's called THIEF in the first place and not Rogue. All you people saying "go back to FFXI" really need to just shut the hell up already, the ignorance is truly astonishing.

It's quite obvious at this point who hasn't read the opening post/replies or is just making that statement because they think they're being cleaver... *Sigh*


What a LOT of people have missed so far and has been covered: FFXI-2, it's not been asked for, we'd hate to see FFXIV turned into it, end of story. Telling people to "go back to FFXI" is not constructive. The reasons for why it is not has been stated about a dozen times now, you might as well tell people from WoW to go back to WoW.

Now why won't people go back to the MMOs that they're making suggestions from? Because both WoW and FFXI are not the same games that they once were. If someone is satisfied with what they have, generally they do not leave it for something else they hope will be better. So going back to what we know? It's not an option because what we knew does not exist anymore as far as most of us are concerned.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could read before posting if you are not going to simply answer the OP's subject, because chances are that what you're about to say has been said already, again and again... and again. If nothing else realize that you are derailing the thread.

What I love is the retort every month is.... its only been "fill in month" give them more time.

Yaknow its not that everyone wanted FFXI its that we didnt want a wow... i dont feel like playing a ff game it feels like wow more than anything so yes its going to rub alot of ff people the wrong way. Not that i ddidnt play wow too but it wasnt and will never be as fun and exciting as FF to me and its that feel that alot of people want.

V1's abject failure simply shows FFXI-type group-or-die mob-kill grindfests are a thing of the past, thank God. FFXI becaume hugely more enjoyable once COP was no longer current content.

WHM can't AoE Benediction anymore, or actively prevent/reduce elemental damage and status ailments like in XI. ToAU was released four years after FFXi's original releases. Benediction has a recast timer of 120 minutes.

We have Flash that inflicts blind. Rage of Halone when used in a combo. There's Virus which reduces STR and DEX. These all stack of course. There's Feint for slow. And we have Protect which boosts Physical and Magical defense. Stoneskin also exists. What FFXI protective magic are you talking about?

Benediction had a recast time of 120 minutes, thus was rarely used. And the sole role of both RDM and BRD in FFXI was pretty much the same for both. Repeatedly keep enhancement spells on others and enfeeble mobs with spells or songs. They we're needed to keep the other jobs that use MP from running out. Neither job was useful alone. The roles of these jobs, and almost all the others in FFXI was so narrow that everything had to function within a strict party hierarchy. Hence you did everything parties of six. One tank, one healer, one enfeebler/enhancer, three jobs that could function as DD (damage dealers). Within experience parties, mobs we're pulled to a "camp" area, which we're specific locations with an area, and often already occupied.

Im also sure that rdm died out horribly with abyssea and has never really recovered so i dont know where they were super useful comes from, maybe chainspell in delve idk.
