Try doing this example in Titan HM with the Plumes, this .gif you've provided means NOTHING, you got out of the longer-lasting AoE early which can be dodged with both eyes closed, try it with shorter-lasting AoE's such as Titan HM's Plumes or Allagan Defence System's 'Piercing Laser' for example... totally different story there for people with less-great connections.Quote:

As a tank in Titan hm, it is hard to notice anything because you don't really do much. As a job that has to dodge, the only time you really feel safe is when you're on the move before the ability goes off.

So.. I've said this before, and I will say it again. Latency/lag is not new to MMOs. Every single solitary MMO on the planet is going to have players connecting to it that have poor connections. So if it is, as you say, just lag, then why can I find absolutely no proof of this happening in literally any other MMO? Surely WoW has lag, with the millions of players it has. So there should be at least one video of a player getting hit by an aoe they were clearly out of before the cast bar finished if that's the true cause. Or Rift, or Star Wars, or Guild Wars, or literally any other MMO... but there isn't.
That's because lag is not the underlying issue, it just aggravates the issue.
I have explained that to you actually, in another thread, when you directly asked me. But here it goes again. As I stated above, lag aggravates the issue itself. So players with a higher latency get the issue worse. The higher the latency the less time they have to react, and the further they can be out of a red zone and still get hit. Latency itself, however, is not the issue.. or the issue would literally happen in every MMO. Just as rubberbanding, stop-go movement, stuttering, and disconnects happen in every single MMO. The issue is how the client and the server communicate regarding positional updates. If they fixed that, then people with bad connections would still get stop and go movement/rubberbanding/whatever, but people who are dodging things on their screen would no longer get hit.Quote:

I did a Google search for the issue myself, for various games, and found absolutely nothing. A person said it happened for Hagan in WoW. So I went to Google and looked for that specifically... and nope.
Also, just to correct.. a person saying it's impossible for them to dodge AOEs because of the issue isn't saying that it's impossible for everyone. That can be very very true for them as some of the videos have indicated, and the underlying issue is still to blame. Battlelogs showing a heal going off for 500, then a hit coming in for 200 and the player getting killed... that is because of the underlying issue. Don't confuse the two, because one certainly is SE's fault and needs to be fixed. -

The problem is the code. SWTOR had this same issue, they fixed it soon after release. FFXIV devs have acknowledged the issue but have said nothing about it since release.

Probably because both examples you provided are scripted fights and most people will know when said boss will cast said skill and be ready to avoid them. It's simple, get out of the danger zones before the boss stops casting. If you're inside the zones as the boss finishes the cast, you're going to get hit. -

I'm not sure about others, but personally, I get the red ring problem during certain hours of day which are non-peak on my end, and in scenarios where the number of people in one small area exceeds the server's capacity to deal with it.
My problem is not with any one dungeon or boss fight, and it's not all the time. But it is not related to lag on my end, or at least, not originating from my end. -

Download any demo of battleping or similar. The few minutes they give you should be enough to test.
If that solves your issue, then it's not SE.
If it doesn't, ping the VPN server.
If even that is not ok, blame your ISP otherwise you can blame SE. -

Nobody is saying that lag doesn't exist people. It does, we all know it does. But there is a big difference between the servers lagging during prime time or some other issue and this. The former will affect most if not all of your raid, not just 1 person.
I'm not saying SE shouldn't work on improving issues (don't worry they can't afford to do that, they are working their butts off). But most people experiencing this issue are not troubleshooting their own connections, they use justifications like, WoW doesn't lag so I don't need to check or change anything on my end. And I'm sorry, but that just isn't true.
Hopefully the people following this thread will try some of the things people have suggested in this thread to see if it improves their situation at all, even if they think it's SE's fault.
