LMAO it can be fun.

I'm not posting every day to show how many days its been since Fan Fest. I'm posting every day because I said I was going to. And because I believe we can make a difference if we don't give up. It is your absolute right to think that it may not happen until 6.0 just as much as it is my right to believe anything is possible. /day 11
To be fair, I'd much rather this thread stay up over new (and redundant) threads. May as well keep the topic to as few threads as possible.
I personally don't see the issue. I think the two new races seem to be set up appropriately, a masculine full cat man race and a feminine bunny girl race. It accommodates for both genders so it is fair. While I'm not very enthusiastic over the bunny girl in the slave Leia outfit, I plan to try out the big cat guys as the new gunbreaker class. I've been meaning to make a tank, this is a perfect opportunity to do so. \o/
It's just a toon it's not like they are us so to get upset over something trivial is pointless. If this is the vision of the artists, we should enjoy the work/content that keeps bringing us back and not try to take it over. But that's just my 2 cents. It's fine as is.

Well I said 6.0 because of how long it takes to create a race, based on what they've said. Since it seems that SE started to work on them in 4.1, that's... a little over a year. That means, if they release them during patch days (unlikely), we won't see the two until, at earliest, 5.3? Realistically and recommended they drop them on expansion days.

Lol :). Not that I'm against beefy women or hot men, I've wanted a Ronso/Ronso like race for a while but yeh I'm also for unlocking the genders and seeing the other side of these races.
After the unlock it would be nice to see all our characters get enhanced creation support like maybe some more body morph controls. So those who wanted Byakko Hrothgar could have them for example.
Ahhh yes another snarky comment just what this thread needs
Im just a another genereation or just a damn lucky person that i dont have to "mimimi" about a desition of a game maker?
I played tons of stuff where not everything was exact designed for my needs and taste....and im still alive, happy and learned new things about me and my taste....
Sry just my few cents about this ... poor, pitiful "topic" where ppl had lose the ability to enjoy about things they got *shrug*
We dont have to start for everything a Petition, some stuff are just preferences which not suits to all, thats just life?
I firmly believe that the development team and director yoshi-p is extremely sexist and discriminative against female anda gltb community otherwise why would you gender lock races
Let's look at female character customization the chest slider for females does not work at all there has been many reports requesting that they fix it do they fix it absolutely not
Let's look at the costumes from all the other final fantasy games there is if you noticed all of them are for males only do you see any costumes from Terra branford from Rydia of mist what about Yuna because 99% of all the game populations cannot have or have access to the unit outfit
And let's look at the hair styles and a female character animation is any of those things being addressed absolutely not but yeah everything as far as the male characters had been completely addressed and fixed and working properly

Let players have the freedom to choose genders please! Thank you! /day 12
I feel like people are blowing this out of wack. I just dont or never expected Male veria to be any different than what we already have. We were never getting those kid like males for males. Of we ever got them they were gonna be the standard like all the other males. Cause that's what they did for females.
It concerned me, and the reason I spoke up before was I don't wish the company or the devs to get into trouble over the tactics "SJW" as someone put it, use to undermine those not on board the movements they wish to impose....and they have a growing number everyday, some more intense then others. But I've also seen the reverse of this too, another game I once played began to ban players who openly spoke against certain aspects of the game they wished to enforce, of this same issue might I add. So it is unsettling when I see it spring up in places I was starting to feel comfortable. The fan art was good work, but people should calm themselves down and not get so excited that there isn't enough masculine females or feminine males, the game already provides this. I've already seen this in game, some for humor others for their own reasons. Put in a request like the rest of us when you would like to see something added and then be patient. I asked for a few things too, but I'm not going to hammer them with endless shame and blame, for not having it right when I ask. If they feel like adding in my ideas, "yay!" If not, the game is still really fun, and it's not the end of the world. lol

I think we might see male viera and female hrotgar much sooner than expected, considering that ffxiv team can now use this to tell SE that they need help and if they help them they can earn so much money. That being said, if they actually wanted, SE could give us 2 full races at launch, although I don't really think it's gonna happen, my bet is that maybe they remove 1 genderlock at a time, 1 at 5.1, then another one at 5.1.5 or 5.2
Too optimistic. ツ Just to be fair, Yoshida'a department opened recruiting at 1st April, but:
- His team works not only on FFXIV and according to recruit description, they plan to work on some big project;
- They started to work on new races 3 months after 4.0 release so it took almost full 2 years with other work. 5.1 or 5.2 is just physically impossimble. 5.5 is earliest option at this point and still - I will not wait it earlier than 6.0-6.x;
- Team most likely will have a vacation after 5.0 release. Maybe just short one, but welp, they need it.
That's very unrealistic expectations. If they were to release the other genders to the races during a patch, 5.5 would be the earliest to expect them. 6.0 would be the more realistic and, in my opinion, best time to release them. I would not be happy if adding the opposite genders during a patch means something else has to be sacrificed.
Right now they're likely working on finalising everything in the expansion, making sure everything works and such. After that releases, they'll likely go on vacation before getting to work on 5.1, which is likely when they'll start working on the female Hrothgar and male Viera.
Why would they release it in 5.5 even if they could. If they were to release any additional races I suspect they would to it as a carrot/incentive/selling point for their new 6.0 expansion. It makes no sense to me to release a new race at a time when subs are low and the current xpac winding down.
Female Viera and Male Hrothgar are a big selling point for this xpac and are a driving force is sales I'm sure.
Not like they would, my point was more about time and resources - 5.5 is earliest when they physically can release it (but it should be a very harsh schedule then). Doesn't mean that they will (and I personally think that 6.0 release will be best time because they will have time to work on it without being dead and it will be good for sells as well). We don't know their Work Flow anyway and can only speculate.
If FFXIV does see extra money, I'd rather it be spent on increasing the amount of housing wards. That'd benefit a greater number of people, too.
Alternatively it could be spent on more PvP or PvE content.
I wasn't disagreeing with your point just trying to reinforce what you were saying. Given the current gear adjustments and the gear added in 5.0 the amount of work for any two additional genders will take more time, not less. Even for these currently scheduled the need to finish work for headgear still requires staff to do that even after release.
Might not be a popular sentiment in this thread but the addition of male Viera and female Hrothgar for 6.0 won't be anywhere near as sub inducing as the current female Viera and male Hrothgar are for 5.0. It's going to be interesting to see if SE actually decides to make those for what I think is a relatively small population who really wants them.
Ah okay then. Well yes, that's true. Though adjusting headgear for missing genders will be a little bit easier after point where they will finish it for recent options. Mostly because their counterparts will most likely have similar propotions (outside of Au Ra all races have more or less similar body line). But it's still a huge amount of work, considering working on other content as well. Not to mention that they work on other projects too.
Please, show your support for all genders for all races! No more gender locks!
Showing continued support for boi bunnies and gurl furries! :-)

Not sure how long it will take but I'm glad that the thread is being bumped with new art and stuff. That's how I hoped things would happen, art and quest ideas.
Something peaceful and a bit productive, rather than some of the other possible ways to do it lol. It'll be interesting to see if the next live letter or some other event will cover this topic. I wouldn't worry too much until Shadowbringer start date passes by a bit, after that if no lick of information comes by then it's a bit like how it was with summoner.. just sort of pray :). To note later demi/ahk-morn were delivered and it was awesome~.
Find Thal and make the pilgrimage :P.
Probably not, the expansion is to move the story forward not a player controlled social aspect. I could be wrong but people who use taunts and slick means to coax someone, even a business, isn't going to work. It's gone past eager fanfic to even rude and pushy in some cases. I'll be glad when everyone calms down and the forums go back to normal.
Maybe we can ask for a few fixes instead lol
