Just curious, why is Garuda a thing for big packs? Ifrit also has aoe plus the counter shield, what's the deal of refusing Iffy?
after the game down time I got back on and did trial roulette I got titan hm and after the titan heart shatters I get the gaols someone break me out but then the landslide hit befor I couldn't doge as I got out of the jail and I fall down just made me mad
As a SMN main myself, this thicks me off a little.
Why would you use Ifrit when you have Garuda??
- Garuda deals more damage.
- It extends the DoT damage so you can Bane all enemies around which helps a bunch.
- And since it's ranged Summon, it has less chance to take the agro from the tank.
Ifrit tends to take over the agro when you target an enemy but don't attack it yet.
Whenever I am on my healer and I see SMN's using Ifrit, I always advice them to use Garuda instead and my heart breaks whenever I see them not following any advice...
If ANY pet (aside from Titan I suppose) takes aggro from a tank then there is something wrong with the tank. :P EDIT: Unless they rouse/spur and enkindle right at the start!
Ifrit I believe is better on single-target fights because of his auto attacks. As long as he doesn't have to travel anywhere and he can sit and do his thing, I'm pretty sure his dps outdoes Garuda by a little bit (I haven't retested this in a long time so I could be wrong--I just use Garuda cause I'm a sucker for contagion and Garuda feels safe while learning stuff). For AoE packs, Garuda all the way though.
I don't understand you at all. Given I didn't even think of the dot benefit of Garuda on large packs which was pointed out to me and I realize it's a big point towards Garuda, I don't understand how Ifrit would steal aggro cause he's melee and apparently attacks before you do. He doesn't attack unless I tell him to, maybe you have him on sic? The range imo doesn't mean aggro, or please explain.
Also Ifrit autoattacks and adds the counter shield which makes at least the tank (the one that is getting hit) do more damage. Garuda doesn't autoattack. This makes them even.
I use Ifrit whenever I know my egi doesn't have to move trying to follow the target and Garuda when I don't need to reposition the egi (unless she happens to be in cleave spot). Please unbreak your heart <3
P.S. I'm a fresh summoner still learning :S
I use Ifrit pretty much 90% of the time, the rest being Garuda and that is only if the boss is self AOE heavy everything else I stick to my burning mass. xD
