I think it is a terrible idea to make the male Viera opposite to how Au Ra's are. I most likely believe that the developers will stay true to Matsuno's image; His vision. If you asked me, I think making the male Viera small will ruin their image as a race. They have been designed to be savages. They are the protectors of the Forest so they must look the part. So having an athletic build similar to the original concept art is perfect. Please note that the Male Viera set out alone. They hunt alone, they must craft their own weapons and cook their own meals. They are so separated that they most likely will fight alone and because of this, they will most likely die alone. SO it only makes sense for them to have the physical appearance that is true to the original design. All the information that I have received was from the in-game dialogue: from the Return To Ivalice storyline.
Don't get me wrong, both Male and Female should look Majestic! Beautiful! Stunning! Not too bulky and muscular and definitely not small. From what I've gathered I imagine them to be the same size as the females. But personally, I'm not against the idea of one being smaller may it be male or female just not by a drastic amount.

Male Bun Buns
I am getting what I want with Female Viera, but I am here to show support for all my friends who want to play the male bun bun. The disappointment when my entire FC watched the fanfest together was quite palpable.

Genderlocking in 2019?
With all due respect to the dev team, I think its very dumb to do gender locking races this late into the game, especially in 2019. Genderlocked races and or classes has a very F2P MMO feel to me, not remotely fitting of a sub based MMO. I know they are hard at work making fantastic content but if they can work on 2 races, with one of both gender, they could easily have scrapped the Hrothgar and implement it in 6.0.
I appreciate the fact they wanted to do 2 races this time around because they didnt have one for stormblood, but I think everyone agrees that having 2 half races isnt as good as 1 full race.
I hope they take all the feedback into consideration and implement male Viera as asap, preferably smaller than the females. Considering they are good at hunting it would be cool to see if their speed and skill comes from being a fair bit smaller than the females thus allowing ease of hiding in the forest to catch unaware prey.

Also adding my support for male Viera.
I was mildly disappointed when they said that male viera would not be available as player characters, citing lore reasons. But I counter that with the presentation of female Roegadyn and male Miqo'te.
When they announced that Viera would be a new race in Shadowbringers, it was only logical to think that both male & female would be available (especially with the Heavensward-old concept art).
If the Gamespot article is accurate, then I am fine with the team eventually adding female Hrothgar and male Viera at a later date. (Although, to me, the male Hrothgar looked like they needed more work done.)

I haven't made the effort to post on the OF until now but the idea has my support. Male character options are already limited if you don't like huge/small characters, adding the Hrothgar without Male Viera is disappointing.

The fact is that even if we get can get the devs to fix the gender lock stupidity, what we get will inevitably disappoint many. A lot of people want what i consider a child as a playable race.
The fact that original art shows them next to another child pretty much confirms this.
What we have seen from the proposed concept art more of the same is what was planed.
Thing is the only real thing i feel will give the dev team the best chance of finding what the players want is by providing art that best captures what we want. Some out there are already doing just that.
While i have my own preference of a more mature variant, as long as it's not a child that we get i'm ok with a more lithe form of male Viera.

Genderlocking bad
Genderlocks are outdated and only serve to prevent players from having as much customization as possible.

I'm not sure if anyone has linked this yet but the JP community has their own thread on the subject:
男のヴィエラ族と女のロスガル族がいない件について
Given that all communities exist on the same forum we can actually go over their thread and give a like to that post as well. This may help show that the communities are united in their desire to see both genders become playable. I'd suggest popping it over and give it a like just like you did this thread.
If you'd like to know what's being talked about in that thread, here is a reddit post that has a translation: Regarding the Japanese playerbase reactions

As a person who owns both girl and boy bunnies. I was disappointed. I hope they are reconsidering gender-lock as my fiance and I are HUGE bunny lovers (also met in game).
Please Yoshi-P!

Showing positive support to adding male viera and female hrothgar. Its 2019, gender locking doesn't feel like a good practice. Especially when the game has been progressive in other parts of the game such as same sex marriage.
