"Healer was too good"
Sure. The correct answer is "healing mechanics are too weak for any middle of the ground healer, best hide it by replacing the midcore healer with a worse one and claim all is fine".
I have so many thoughts about this they're going in circles and not computing.
- Why not take the information you're getting from the healer?
- If you want to test it from a casual side why have a serious DPS as well and not replace them?
- If the serious DPS doesn't matter, why should the midcore Healer?
- Why not have a full casual set, a full midcore set and a full serious set?
- No seriously, why not?
What I'm shocked at is that this sounds like they aren't testing the game with more than one person per role in any piece of conent. That is truly insane. I understand that is about how many people are needed to make final judgments on balance, but to do all the playtesting? What the actual.
I understand that they want to keep tanks and healers accessible, but it sounds like they aren't seeking input at all on anyone who intends to main the job.
judging from everything yoshi p done:
- cutting ast and sch skills at 5.0
- ast getting sleeve draw and mp regen issues fix only at 5.3
- sch stuck with clunky fairy till 6.0
- sch job trailer had the least action in any of his showcase.
- confirming in a LL that they read healers feedback and straight up ignore them.
- whm changes at EW and 0 adjustment to thin air nerfs and mp issues.
and now the tester healer , in the dungeon testing group that consist of yoshida and another executive as dps, is being replaced cause he is too good(and by too good meaning he done primal EX).
it isn't sounds like they aren't seeking input, its flat out declared it and basically just flat out admitting the healer roles is for afk, dumb players and they aren't even bothering to invest in actual testing for them.(probably tanks as well).
A tad presumptive and hyperbolic, but I feel I have to agree with the sentiment. Which is very depressing. There is so much potential in this game for, if not pure healers, *combat healers*. Imagine:
* WHM having a suite of wind/water/earth spells to rotate through in addition to holy bombs.
* AST having a massive Nuclear Fusion bomb and a Nuclear Decay DoT, or maybe more delayed spells to plot out like with Stellar Detonation and Microcosmos.
* SCH getting back Bane and Miasma and becoming the "chemist" job everyone wants.
* SGE getting more Addersting triggers and an AoE DoT and ST bombs to spend them on.
And these are things that I literally just came up with in two seconds, but they would improve healers like tenfold. Because literally even one more damage spam would double their job complexity.
The point you're missing is that people do not recognize what a good healer looks like.
And yeah, that is very reflected in the game.
I've had tanks not realize what Essential Dignity does. I have MANY, MANY cohealers who don't recognize or play around the idea that I'm using Earthly Star even in Extremes and Savages.
I have fellow WHM and AST follow up with Medica 2 and A. Helios when I just casted Celestial Opposition.
It is 100% easy to gloss over a good healer, who actually uses their oGCDs like they're supposed to because they do not have a cast bar. So when the not so great healer who has been GCD healing from start to finish (which I'll point out they're hard casting and thus visible to anyone even glancing at a party bar) gets the credit, I am not surprised.
