They're working on cross DC stuff, but it might take some time to become a reality. There would need to be a host location chosen and characters would still have to transfer there, so there would still be some travel time involved.

Starting a FC over is fairly quick when you know what you're doing. It doesn't take that long to hit Rank 15, the ranks for 16-20 don't offer anything of major value and 21-30 don't offer anything at all.
The nice thing about starting over is you can skip the mistakes you made the first time around that slowed you down.
I made it off Dynamis. Had to destroy my house, but it was worth it. Apologies to any I offended here. I just couldn't take the queues. I know I could move to a more active DC and queue there but seeing my FC shrink over the last week as the 90 day lock expired, was the last straw. Good luck to you all.
The only reasons are going to be for it are all selfish reasons.
Like I could complain about cross DC queues out of fear of that it'd allow people to try to play on low population servers during 7.0's expac and would probably end in my server having a long login queue. That's not a good reason though and the benefits obviously outweigh the downsides.
A lot of people are still here and starting here. I heard from someone that the game auto defaults to Dynamis. So it will eventually fill up. Heck one of the servers Seraph I think is congested. But I think if we get cross data center queuing the server you're on will truly not matter anymore. Which I think is a better positive for the game.
Everyone should play on Halicarnassus!
Well, it will when a new expansion releases and login queues for the game get long. If there are universal queues then during the expansion release when login queues get crazy people will visit other servers to try and have faster login times. Chances are people are going to do that anyways, but it'd be even better with cross DC in-game queues. This means that while normally Dynamis players might have faster queues, with all the server visitors they might not.
Personal opinion, but I really hope that they lock the servers on the next expansions release. If I'm going to be locked out of the game in a login queue, at the least make it so I'm being locked out by someone else on my server.
To be quite honest, even with the new expansion, I sincerely doubt we will ever see the more players coming into the game.
Most of the new players which came from WOW has already come and left and with Endwalker being the culmination of a 10 year plot, the new expansion will be a much lower key event and it would be surprising if we even see the same number of players as back during Shadowbringers.
Which mean Dynamis, OCE and the 4 new EU servers will remain extremely low pop, and there won't be queue issues like what we experienced in Endwalker release either.
I left Dynamis. I made the post about trying to get Eureka done, and I ended up leaving since I was spending so much time on other data centers. I became pretty disconnected from my FC as I spent like no time there and said screw it and bounced. The server is full of people, but even new stuff is dead. Eureka Orthos is dead, and so are Bozja and normal Eureka. I was just tired of paying for an inferior experience that other players didn't have to deal with.
It hasn't really been dead in my opinion lately I get on do my dailys the only things i've really had to datacenter travel for is alliance raid stuff
I tried. I was, or I should say, I felt like I was being ignored. A couple of them wanted to do Eureka or roulettes, but then nothing would happen. Yesterday, one of the members wanted to spam run stuff to get to 90. I said, "I'm down send an invite." And then nothing. There were a lot of reasons, honestly. They were nice people it's just a lot of the time I felt alone despite being in a group full of people. I was an officer, but I didn't feel like I fit in. Sorry if that was long-winded.
To OP (might've answered before, I know I said it before, but since it came up in New Posts (again)):
Prisoner's dilemma. Or some other game theory thing anyway. Everyone on Dynamis assumes everyone else on Dynamis isn't staying for rouletting, so they DC hop. Then/also the "tolerance creep" occurs, where people willing to wait no more than 5 minutes leave; their absence in turn makes people who would wait 10+ minutes never pop, "screw this I'm out", they leave; then the 20+ min people lose their patience; etc.
At some point, you end up with only the vanishingly small number of "oh, this is fine" people with infinite patience, and no one else, routinely (trying to be) doing content. Then, the population/activity level of Dynamis as perceived by someone who's never before had to deal with it on a routine basis but has some level of optimism immediately sees a "over 30 minutes" pop ETA appears to be dead, because it functionally is.
Which is true even when it pops in 5 minutes. I've had 30-minute ones turn into 30-second ones, but people see 30 minutes, and they unque. Almost out of habit. I've sniped FC mates queues to help speed them up. But almost every FC I've been in since coming to Dynamis has no less than like 5 people on something other than Dynamis. That became me. I was super optimistic about it, but after several months of dealing with it, I'm out.
plenty of houses still over there...
Because Dynamis was an unneeded solution to a problem that we have for 2 weeks every what, 2ish years when an expac drops? Oh and get ready for 4 more worlds to be addded to it. Can't wait to see even more dead wards in the housing districts.
Dynamis players might have to set up times to queue one night for say experts or leveling roulette. Encourage everyone to queue at a certain time. 8 or 9 pm US Eastern might work.
The point would be to try to create a small window of pops for a few hours. Once that window is opened, people will know it exists and queue around that time. If all goes well, eventually people will want it open every night and for more things or set up pfs for other things.
I had a 90 minute queue for expert roulette the other day...

maybe...wild idea here. those of us from other dc's can take time daily to run over to dynamis and help out with queues.
its dead now but just wait until 7.0 launches
So i thought of a solution. make all worlds congested in aether, crystal and primal. that funnels all newly created characters to dynamis only. its a elegant solution but one i think should be explored and done.
The Solution probably is having all Four Datacenters feeling and operating as if it was " One Datacenter "
Duty- and Partyfinder are no longer separated by Four Datacenters and the queue times are instant. This is however !! really unrealistic !! due to current Soft/Hardware limitations.
We discussed why Dynamis is desolate and we know why players aren't flocking to it. Aether Crystal and Primal are competing in what Dynamis has to offer due to Datacenter traveling, their existing communities and playerbases. This makes enticing players to migrate difficult. The only thing Dynamis has way more of? is free-real-estate. That's it. No amount of Experience boost is going to provide any solution to this. Forcing players to migrate is a big no, and enticing only goes so far.
Twiddling your thumbs and hoping Square does something does nothing. Last thing players want to hear is that they should come to terms with the choices they made... but its one they should accept. It was their choice to transfer to Dynamis, so they should make the best out of the choice they made.
Thing is, Dynamis has a healthy new character population. My alt is just in SB and queues except alliance roulette really aren't that bad anymore. But where I hear the queues are really slow from my FC mates is closer to max level and endgame. And for that the DC just needs time for all these new folks to catch up to those levels and content.
Sounds like a really bad solution, people should be relatively free to pick where they want to play cause what if they have friends on a specific server with an FC to join?
The only solution to the dynamis problem is...well...for people to grow a brain and understand why it needs TIME for a datacenter to grow a healthy population. People who expected that dynamis would be like every other datacenter from the start had it coming in my opinion. If you make bad choices then you have to live with the consequences and don't ask to drag other people down with you.
new servers and DC is always going to be slow, once next expansion launches next year, it gonna be busy. Based off playing on new EU worlds in both SB and in EW.
You'd have to temporarily "break" datacenter travel as well. Otherwise, they will just do what they do now. But even saying that people would leave en masse if they knew you were going to do it. Plus, it's also super shifty. A better solution would be to figure out cross dc queuing so that your server choice is irrelevant.
The problem is that a lot of people are currently satisfied with things as-is:
So how do you change the infrastructure for this game while keeping those people happy? They like the system as-is. Maybe they like being in a dead DC. This is likely why Square Enix won't do any upgrades, because people just like everything they're currently doing. The fanbase of this game is very easy to please, Square can throw anything at them and they'll like it no matter what it is. It's hard to incentivize drastic and costly changes when everyone basically likes everything no matter what it is.
