Female Hrothgar as a playable race. Show your support!

I understand why you did what you did, maybe someday. Me personally I like to see them run like the animals they are as a kind of mount down on all four. You wanted to go more animalistic and fantasy go all out on one race would be better then half way on two.

This is exactly why I dont understand why male Viera couldn't have been a thing. If they could have just as easily thrown out the lore for Ronso by saying "but they aren't reeeeally Ronso" then why couldn't they have done that with Viera, too?



Anyway, back on topic.... I agree. Especially with Hrothgar the genderlock really sucks as there's honestly no like-race to choose from. So if you want to be more beast-like, you pretty much have to play a male. Unfortunate.

I actually think this is the best scenario we could have had, and I’ll explain why.

Adding races is extremely taxing on the dev team, I’m not going to explain why that is again, but it is and that’s a fact.
If we had only got Viera, male and female, then there’s almost no chance we would ever get another race, so we’d never get Hrothgar.
The same vis versa, they could have just given us Hrothgar…
However, by giving us one of each, they’ve not only given us greater variety between them now, but kindled a greater and more valid demand for their gender counterparts, making it more likely that they’ll be inclined to push their resources to make them happen at some point down the line.

In an effort to try and please more people with what they thought was their ‘last race’, they’ve actually put themselves in a position where they’re more likely to cave to demands to unlock the other genders.

So yeah, keep up the support for female Hrothgar and male Viera.

While not all the Hrothgar lore is currently available I would prefer that female Hrothgar become a playable option.

Female Hrothgar would be really cool! A strong beast-type female race would be amazing ^q^

Hrothgar was made to give ff14 what it was missing was a beast race but females shouldn't be missing too!

As a consistent player for the last 5 years I am posting on the official forums today to express my disappointment that both new races are gender-locked. The lore explanation is flimsy considering that male Miqote are playable. At the end of the day FF XIV is not Ivalice and even if it was Square Enix can make the lore whatever Square Enix wants it to be. In the very least female Hroth/Ronso being excluded as a justification for the Viera excuse is aggravating. Female characters should have more options than the same "pretty girl" choice and introducing a bestial tribe would have been the best way to start mitigating the female limitations present in the game. Male characters should also have the ability to be Viera males if they so choose. Male Viera possibly being more feminine or smaller does not negate their existence or validity as an avatar. As the WoL/WoD the player should be free to choose which race or gender best represents what they want to be in-game. Gender-locking creates a lose/lose situation where the player base is needlessly limited and where Square Enix instills disappointment.

Please reconsider gender-locking the new races. It feels bad that the last Fan Fest before a major expansion comprised of so much disappointment. This feels like a step back into 1.0. Please fix this mistake.

Giving actual animal faces to a race and stopping females from using that is beyond absurd. This is the most unique race in the game and the MOST important to have both sexes for.

Female Ronso are already canon, and I really believe there's a market for strong, powerful femmes in games. We need more of them! We need more diverse body types and presentations in our gaming! Adding female Hrothgar only adds to the game and its diversity and lore. It doesn't diminish or subtract anything at all. Give us ladies please!

I would absolutely fantasia to a female Hrothgar if they add them. I always admired the female Ronso in X and they shouldn't be gender locking anyway

I didn't even want viera, but the decision to include them over female hrothgar after they made the males is pretty baffling, and of course, pretty frustrating after SE said they weren't going to gender-lock races anymore. Please give us female Horthgar at some point.

I am a bit angry that those of us that wanted a female beastly race were ignored in favor for another sexy female race. So please SE give us the female Hrothgar and please dont let us wait until the next expansion. v_v

Honestly I would swap so hard from Roegadyn to Ronso if they were ever available. Let the Dev Team take their time implementing them and don't bang your fist on the tables at every Live Letter. It's a long and arduous sort of thing to make a whole race from nothing. Hell it's hard to make even PART of a race from nothing.

Fully support this, and also fully support male Viera being available (will post/like that thread too in a bit). I'm pretty happy with how female Viera turned out, and will definitely make an alt, but I was more looking forward to playing as a female Hrothgar... the one race that's beastial (sp? bestial?) in form and also leonine, and it's male only, I'm a bit gutted to be honest :( But I do hope that the situation may change in the future :)

Agreed that the devs should do whatever than can not to over-tax themselves with adding the other genders. (At least as much as they can control. Corporate is a betch.) I think it is immensely important to have both genders but if it needs to be over-time then that is more than good enough for me. I am eager for them to finish compiling all the feedback and hear what they decide.

Hrothgar female would be my dream race. I never dared believe Ronso would be in this game.

I fully support the unlocking of genders for both our new races. I never thought I’d be interested in playing a female character, but I’ve already played a charr in Guild Wars, and having seen the fanart of female ronso (I know it’s just fanart but still), I would be interested in creating an alt to play around with, because beast races are cool.

As I said in the Male Viera thread, it won't affect me directly as I forever Elezen. However, there are enough friends and FC members that would like to play a Female Hrothgar that I can fully support this change on their behalf. Options are good. Giving both Male and Female to the new races is a good change to allow for more options in my mind.

It'd be nice to have female Hrothgar. There were no important female Ronso NPCs in X or X-2, so maybe XIV would be able to have their own that if the gender/race combo was available.

I support female hrothgar. I'm a fem roe player myself. I didnt start out that way. But everytime I saw one in game, I just fell in love. Now im a proud Fem Roe player. And I count every fem roe npc that I see. I know it is a little thing but I love seeing them around in the game. And from the conversations with other Fem Roes players they do the same. That's why I understand people's sadness and anger around no Female Hrothgar and Male Viera. There are players who are already in love with those races/gender and just don't know it yet. It is also odd that they are genderlocked since between 1.0 and 2.0 that the community voted and voiced the want for gender parity.

As for the lore reasons of not making them. The lore is already weird with it being an MMO already. I can start a new character as an Au Ra at the beginning of ARR. Playing a race that no one in Eorzea has seen by that point? (At least storywise) It's also messed up in another way because we play dungeons and raids with other players. And its odd to think that "Oh, yea these are just random adventurers who somehow have the same skills as me. Who will just leave after this dungeon? And won't effect the story at all". So the this is weird because lore reasons already doesnt make much sense. But those are my thoughts, I am really excited for Shadowbringers and I wish the Dev Team there best. And thank you all for doing all this wonderful work.

I already replied on the male Viera topic page, but I want to post on both so the developers will hopefully see this support. It makes no sense for their not to be female Hrothgar; especially when you consider that they have been in another game already so we know what they look like. Personally I want a male Viera more as I was hopeful to play a bunny boy. With that said adding both will benefit the world and lore by showing that all races are joining forces to defeat Garlemald. I hope to see the FFXIV team make the right decision and develop these genders for a future release (and let us know so we can get excited again).

Don't care much for male Viera but I've liked and am here to support the inclusion of female Hrothgar in 6.0 hopefully.

Just like the Viera post, I equally feel as though this is a necessity. In my other post, I mentioned the female aspect of the game is too one-sided. Doll-like features, beautiful faces while the male side is all a range of creative choices. I feel this is extremely unbalanced, and just like the men, I feel the females should have that same range. And while I admit, I am more upset at the Viera, I would be wrong to ignore this "answer to the Viera".
If you're going to put in anthropomorphic felines, it would be wise not to limit the "ugly" ones or the "strange" ones solely to the men. *Again*.
The women should have that range, and having a feline female who isn't yet another sexy counterpart to an otherwise very defined race is a perfect representation of that.

Please add in both genders to both classes. I didn't like the borderline sexism in XI, and I certainly don't like it here. I say that because, while the men got sexy little Mithras in skimpy clothes, we got bulky rat looking for things that were massively disproportioned.

It isn't fair and speaks volumes of your priorities. Namely, who you're selling to. And I like to feel I matter too, not just the ones who like their pretty girls.

To be honest what is ugly or beautiful is truly in the eye of the beholder, for example I quite like the hrothgar faces and find them pretty darn attractive. But I still get what you mean. Like I said in the viera thread, I truly hope to have female hrothgar implemented with faces FAR different than the standard beauty options all other females have. Even if it's just them looking feline, lupine or whatever. What I ask of Square is to keep the same about of bestial flavor to the female faces.

Heck, you know what? I wouldn't even mind if both hrothgar genders used the same faces. Perhaps just alter the body in some way; use the female roegadyn body as a baseif you must, but please hunch it over in the same way as the males.
