I just finished going through all 37 pages. Well, i actually skipped a few that seemed redundant.

I am trying to decide if I should stay on Fabul or not. I am personally not into RPing, but it will not bother me, as long as it doesn't affect my limited play time.

To be more specific: if I am invited to a party for Moggles let's say, and instead of assigning roles people talk "funny" (for lack of other words) and we are wasting time, that would mean I am affected by RPers.

From what I read from all the Besaid people that will not be the case. However, since all other servers know that Besaid was the unofficial RP server they will most likely flock to the new combined server. This could mean two things: the RP community will grow and it could interfere with normal play or some really weird folks will join the server.

I can deal with both as long as it does not interefere with my limited play time. I think this is the attitude most normal players will have going into this merger.

Arguing and insulting each other in these forums may cloud this decision for some. Ultimatelly all I am looking for is a place I can enjoy playing a game IN MY OWN WAY.

That shouldn't be an issue. As has been said MANY MANY times before, as it stands right now, the RP community on Besaid is miniscule at best, and you generally have to go out of your way to find it. I can count the amount of times I have seen it on one hand, and I have been playing since closed beta. I don't generally do PUG groups, but when I have I have never run into the issue you described. Good way to sum it up is this, back on the very first page.

That isn't to say our server doesn't have it's fair share of elitists and general dbags, but you will get those no matter what server you pick :P

The only time I troll is when i make some of my rediculous comedy type threads that have no meaning :D

I usually just blist people that are abusing the shout function. I don't want to turn off my filter in case someone is actually shouting for something good. Thx SE for the blist option ^^

until the company recognizes it, it is still unofficial

thats what the word unofficial means after all, it means not recognized by the company, but recognized by the players

so if everyone in the world, but the company recognized it as an RP server, then it would still be unofficial? that sounds pretty stupid does it not? If you ask any FFXIV player what the RP server was, and they said Balmug, then thats pretty damn official to me.

Technically, the answer to your question is yes, stupid or not. Only SE can make that designation since the servers belong to them, just like the up and coming official EU server. None of this matters anyway. Yoshi already said they are going to have an official RP server come 2.0 and I will guarantee you now that it won't be Balmung. Please be sure to quote me for posterity.

that is the true definition of the word

if it could be official without the people who own it making it official...why the hell would the word "unofficial" even exist?


its not about what you deem official, its about what the actual term means and stands for, this isnt about interpretation

fansites are the perfect example of it

say a game/person/thing has no site of their own
some fans of it take it upon themselves to make a site, the site is then unofficial
the company or person who it represents and is about, do not endorse it as official, therefore, it is unofficial, even if it is the only one of its kind and everyone knows it is

Just a thought: it could officially be unofficial and unofficially official without being official.

For those of you on Fabul wondering about the transfer, DONT WORRRY. The RPist (er) thing is not even an issue. Should you ever get invited to a party with a group of them they do things just like any other player would. All the "talking" usually takes place over their linkshell I guess; and sometime in /say but /party is usually all business IF, (AND ITS A BIG IF) if you see it at all.

So yeah come on down to Balmung and don't panic.
