Finally did it! 100% Fish Guide too. Phoenix Server....2nd?

I'm making my way there as well, 99/112 big fishies. 2 Legendaries caught so far.

I've been using http://ffxivfisher.appspot.com/? for time tables since I heard that http://en.ff14angler.com/timetable.php/ doesnt take previous weather in consideration for things that require a specific "pre-weather" (Like clear -> heatwave or something). Is this true?

In any case, that appspot one is really great with the colored filters.

Finally caught Shonisaurus after eating some Haddock Dip! That food really does make all the difference, it would seem. Server 2nd 112/112 Big Fish, I believe. :D

How much gathering did you have? Says 403 required on page 1~

You don't need 403 to catch Shoni or Mahar. 394 reels Mahars in pretty consistently, and it was enough to catch Shoni first bite I ever got. The only fish in the game that needs 403 is Nepto Dragon.

I got Shonisaurus with 384 Gathering. Perception was 331 with HQ haddock dip, no fc buff (all foragers + ironworks)

Which fish do we need a high perception stat for (and whats the stat number)? I was under the impression preception could be ignored for most of the big fish?

I seriously feel like crying right now. I was AT Kuno and what do I fish up....another gd NQ assassin betta.

Hang in there xD at least the window's somewhat common...I know how you feel though. Always a Goldfish when you need a Betta, always a Betta when you need a Goldfish.

I really shouldn't complain, apart from the few fish I caught in 2.3, I haven't been at the super long and I'm at 56/112. Which all things considered isn't that bad for a bit less than 2 weeks for fishing.

And as I'm typing this I just caught Thousand-year!

I'm rather sad at how rare these windows are for Helicoprion, Blood-red Bonytongue, Bat-o'-Nine-Tails, Shonisaurus, The Old Man in the Sea, and hoping to catch that void bass one day... 10+ Fish Gets Away so far and yet I already have 4 legendary fishes... RNG is random.

Those rare windows are exactly why I loved this fishing patch. The fish conditions themselves could be SUPER annoying (big fish mooch for shoni, for example) but, personally, I really enjoyed having to work for it for a change instead of just show up -> cast rod -> catch fish. I like that fishing in this patch drew a line between casual fishing and fishing that people actively work for which made getting the title feel that much more significant. Just personal opinion though :)

Yeaa you don't work for those weather windows, its actually a very big drawback because you are now completely screwed if you don't play enough to see those windows.

I played like 20 hours on saturday and 12 hours on sunday (I work full time mon-fri) and then a few hours each weekday and have yet to get a single blood-red bonytongue window. And got a few windows for those im missing~

In 2 weeks of fishing I think the only window I have never seen is for Terpsichorean. Fog in Eastern La Noscea is probably one of the rarest weathers in the game. And ya for Bloodred I've only fished the window once. The weather pattern is actually coming up soon, but WRONG TIME. /sigh :D

Its actually Caddisfly Larva for bait. Hoverworm says "The bait you are using may not be suited to this location.".
Caddisfly Larva got "fish got away" with the big fishing animation.

Not sure if anyone can answer this but I thought I'd ask anyways: Is it still possible to catch Carp Diem in Gridania during the Christmas event? It's snowing and you need fog/overcast I believe. Did SE bone us? lol If they did guess I'll just have to wait till Jan 1st.

I honestly had no idea so I went and checked the upcoming weather via the Skywatcher in Mor Dhona and she said the weather for Mist was going to be Snow -> Snow -> Snow -> Snow. It looks like they've overwritten the weather for the area rather than just re-skinning and so, presumably, that means there won't be any fish weathers up :(. Seems we've been boned good and proper.

Luckily its "only" 3 zones where u cannot fish now, better look for other fishes in the meantime.

Actually, right now in towns and residential districts (with the permanent snow weather), the snow is overriding all sorts of weather requirements for the fish you can get there, meaning you can currently catch them all at any time (within the fish's available time window that is, if applicable). So now is the best time to go after those.

I'd guess the same might apply for the town Sightseeing Log entries too, for those that care about that.

Wanted to come back here and amend this post... actually, what it looks like is that the snow weather just serves as a potential substitute for rain, which means fish like Raincaller/Stormdancer are catchable, but other town/residential fish that need weathers other than rain are currently unavailable, hinted at by this reddit post, but it seems to be correct in my experience :/

Missing just 4 Big Fish - shonisaurus, helicoprion, blood-red bonytongue and the old man in the sea. But very few windows, especially since I dont play 24/7.. >_>

Now instead of a grind, its a waiting game for the stars to align.

I finally got my last legend this morning. So now i am also of dragons deep.

Still need that damn blood red bonytongue though then im complete.

Just asking but is there a list where you can see which fish actually count towards those achievements?

I mean I'm pretty sure that most of the green ones do count towards it but I don't really know which other fish do :(

Every green fish counts towards the achievement. There are a total of 112 green-bordered fish and you need 106 for the Ironworks Rod. Basically there are 106 big fish and 6 legendaries needed to complete the quest Feast of Famine. These 6, however count towards both the quest and the 106, so after obtaining the rod you should still have 6 fish to catch but they may or may not be the legendaries.

I just want to say that you people who have completed the Fishing achievements amaze me.

I caught my first HQ Silver Sovereign about 10 minutes ago and my wife almost had to rescue me after I fell out of my chair from cheering so much.

I can't imaging EVER having this fishing log complete.... but the beer helps, lol.

Also, there can't possibly be a more disappointing HQ in this game than the Mahi-Mahi.

As much as I love fishing in this game, there isn't much left to do with the 2.4 fishes. The incentive to catch more fish and desything for a reward is gone. Loved the swimwear business in 2.3 though, this is coming from the person who got the ironworks rod on the first week or so! (yes, I just had to put that there, LOL)

Desynthimg the legendary fish can get you t4 materia eg nepto drops savage might 4. So i feel 2.4 fishbare worth it. Also on another note i finally got my last fish last night so now am 100% complete with fishing log. So glad.

Lost my third Shoni today ... but I guess RNG decided to show some pity.
