Because they can't do with this new technology what they made like 12 years ago for the PS2. Owait...

So there won't be anything except FATE? :(Quote:
Q44: Are there any plans to implement open world content other than FATE?
A44: While FATE will be the only open world content, there are plenty of aspects of FATE that we have not released. Please stay tuned!
Although I have no idea what they have still in store, I feel a bit disappointed about that, since I love to discover and strive for something in the open world.
To meet other people in a dungeon was always fun to me, sometimes they were helping me or vice-versa and so I was making friends.
My most horrible scenario would be that the open world will feel like a "main lobby/menu" with no motivation to explore, even though I'm doubting that myself...
Or because there are more important things, like actual content for them to be devoting time and resources for at the moment. But, hey, recreating an aerial view of the entire world so that a handful of people can stand around doing absolutely nothing is pretty dang important to get into the game by release. Owait...
That's not what they meant.. I think people took that way out of proportion. FATE has more to it that they haven't disclosed to us, and "time event" doesn't always mean it's timed. It could mean it happens at a certain time, and also has a time limit. I dunno and I'm not ready to make conclusions when we don't even know what they have in store for us.
This also doesn't mean there won't be questing content in the open world. obviously that's another main focus for ARR.
Now if someone can explain this to me..
I never craft, and I will be picking it up in ARR finally, in MMO's.. so I don't really get the melding of "forbidden" materia. What's the story behind that? In the few months I played I didn't really get to that point of adding materia, so I'm a little lost on that :-/
I think they mean 'forbidden' as in, melding more materia to a piece of equipment than the amount of slots it has is a 'forbidden/secret' skill. So it's not the materia themselves that are forbidden.
I believe you needed to do a quest in 1.0 as well, before you could attach more than one materia to equipment.
