March or April of next year.
If you think it will release before March, your crazy. Major content is still being developed. Then they need to test, debug, polish, etc. 5 months is optimistic.
hmmm i will go with mid June, Just before summer
about 1 month in defferent phases of beta
full open beta may
then relase June
This isn't really the issue, the issue is we don't even have Alpha/beta yet, so not even the basics seem to be where they want it. They can produce content fairly quickly with the size of their team especially considering the fact unless they really shit the bed they have 1.0's assets to build off of.
Feb 2010 and Alpha started or will started in the next day or two. Unless he says otherwise Yoshi-p said that alphas would start at the end of Sept. That at least gives us a starting point.
Cant really think of a date. Im hoping jan-march next year. One thing is certain though. For every mon that the game is down they lose sub money (not that its an astonomical amount compared to say WoW). They also lose potemtial sub money for those wanting to pick it up at launch. They also have to pay the dev teams' salaries and pay for promotions and thing of that nature.
If SE is smart they planned ahead so as not to have an extreme amount of downtime. Im sure they also dont want people getting too attached to other games and MMOs. For alot of people just a month or two is enough time to forget about ARR and move on.
I don't even understand people giving any date in 2012... Alpha didn't even start :/ We're in October. Less than 3 months for alpha/beta? Not going to talk about the PS3 version as well.
I'll bet for Spring 2013 :d (Not Australian Spring please ><)
Why everyone assume that renting servers cost a lot for MMO providers? It doesn't. What costs is manpower. Bandwidth/servers are way less than 10% of costs (at least it was less than 10% for NCSoft, and bandwidth included everything, game servers + their websites/forums etc. Figures here.)Quote:
1. Cost tons of money to run 2 data centers running to 2 games (FFXIV and ARR). Ending in November would be the smart choice so they don't have to keep 2 data centers up the whole time and saving game data.
Did you really have to put that there? Most of us know that you guys mean northern hemisphere spring/summer/season when you speak in season terms. That almost borders on insulting/discriminating comment in my opinion. Like you're looking down on us. >.> If you're so deathly afraid of anyone making assumptions about our Spring times, then list the months.
Sorry if I am overreacting, but I really do feel insulted that you made a point to write that.
