A comical number of people insist that you can't complain about a lack of content unless you have 100% completion on multiple characters.

I don't think they actually know what that main content is.. Nor do I really think they are in a position to try and lecture people about "Playing the main content".
I don't even think they realize what complaints most people are actually making for that matter. . .
It's also comical that these comments also typically come from people who barely interact with the game themselves.
Like, why is someone who hasn't even leveled all of their jobs (or someone who barely interacts with the game themselves outside of potentially raiding) trying to lecture people about engaging with the game
For me, main content would be daily dungeons if we had variety in the expert, but we don’t anymore.
MSQ patches takes a few hours, new deep dungeon and variant dungeon takes about two weeks and then we start to run out of content that is evergreen.
I would love variant to be something I can do as a daily but the current version is a bit harder than I prefer as on some bosses I die 3 to 4 times and that sucks the joy out of the fight.
Hopefully we will learn more in two months.
They've tried to prop up "Quantum" as a way to make content more approachable/replayable based on the amount of difficulty one wants... but it immediately got panned when it not only didn't allow for making Pilgrim's Traverse easier (only harder), but the reward for clearing it at maximum difficulty was just a title. One of the few times where casuals, midcores, and hardcores alike got to be equally disappointed in something. (Then Merchant's Tale came along and said "hold my beer" with the face mask and Alo weapons fiasco, lol.)
Most likely January 26th. However too late is June 2027.
What goofy a$$ jobs will be added I wonder. Perhaps a Werewolf & Vampire job or something goofy & edgy.
Actually, that sounds pretty neat..........
I think a big factor in why ARR felt more alive were the extra dungeons and lore bits from the job quests, none of which exist anymore.
Job quests should make a comeback imo (preferably on top of the 5 role quests), and extra dungeons that build on the lore of the regions and world in general would be amazing as well. They could even go back and make them for the First or The World Unsundered to entice people to go back to those regions to keep the older content more relevant and those regions more alive...
Maybe add more side quests in general.
But I'm suggesting all this from a player perspective.
The main issue is resources.
SE has had a few rather bad years and XIV is financially flagshipping the entire company at this point, so a lot of the money it generates that should be re-invested in the game goes into other divisions, and it shows, I'm afraid.
