7.2 MSQ opinions (spoiler obviously)

I got a good laugh out of how flat all of WL's lines sounded. The plot overall was leaps and bounds better than the entire expac so far which is just kinda embarrassing for it. Turns out putting some focus on our character for once made for a more enjoyable ride, who knew?

They gave the key to Superman, essentially. Can you think of a safer person to entrust it to than the most powerful single person on the planet? Since technically, it is most likely that it's our past self's property anyway, it's our right to keep it. Depending on its origin and true purpose, it might be our duty to safeguard it. Besides, I think keeping it in the WoL's backpack is probably safer than even the deepest vault in Sharlayan. Homeboy's plan only almost worked, and it took half a city's juice, and even then he still didn't do the job. Imagine if he tried to just... walk up and take it. Ha. Ha. Ha.

As for your other point... I'm not sure that's as good a point as you think it is. Tupsimati (not sure if I spelled that right) was Louisoix's staff. It was only right that it was entrusted to the two people it ended up with: the woman who inherited leadership of his organization, Minfillia, and then the only person who could utilize it properly... Papalymo, his finest pupil.

Kinda bland and cheap tbh. I'll elaborate the things that kinda turned me off:

- The kid is the smartest person in the room. Terrible trope idk why Japan is like this, maybe my "western" sentiments can't comprehend the "peak content" when a kid is so smart and wise and the adults aren't??? (this happened in the raid questline too when that catgirl kid suddenly had a doctorate in medicine on a disease that we only just learned existed). I can't suspend my disbelief for that it turned me off on the plot point related to those scenes because they felt inauthentic
- While I'm on the subject of the kid, there was no purpose in having him or Wuk Lamat with us in Solution 9 while we wandered around. All they said was really bland "flavor text" and did not contribute to the propulsion of the plot in any way
- We get struck with a big lightning bolt when Calyx and not-Speen tries to kill us, and then we STAND THERE and Wuk Lamat STANDS THERE while they exposition and Speen is all smug at us and shit talks us? We just stand there and do nothing? Goodbye immersion. Don't try to defend this as "you were too weak" because in the scenes immediately after this we walk and move around just fine as if it didn't happen and no one shows any concern that all the power in Sol9 was redirected into our dome
- Calyx is introduced like he's some mighty force and he literally says the same Garlean-human-advancement-evolution shit that we've heard 90 times already from other villains. His motivations were not made clear or believable at all - he just comes off as a bad guy that the plot needed to have because we have to have a villain or the story magically vacuum implodes
- Right before the trial we once again stand around and do nothing while the villains 2 feet away from us take their time to do something evil and terrible. If this didn't happen every expac then FF14 wouldn't have a story ever tbh
- They couldn't just call the trial boss Beatrix could they
- It also messed up the cadence of the story to be like "here's your government mandated dungeon. Oh yeah you're supposed to get a trial too here have that right after lol"
- "Huge event" of literally all the security in Sol9 turning on everyone and the place catching on fire, and then the patch ends and you can just walk around Solution 9 as if nothing happened till 7.3? Like really? The whole place descended into chaos but now it's just ok as we wander around the place for the next patch? Not exactly good for immersing someone in a story. It's like it never even happened

Honestly I'm giving it an "actually mid" 5/10. Gameplay content was fun. Story was better than 7.0 but so are a lot of fanfics on AO3.

We are STILL rehashing ShB-EW story beats with evil 9S pulling an Emperor Varis speech from 4.5

The 50% voice acting really ruins it for me as a whole, am so used to "no voice = not important" in basically 90% of games out there that when you go from VA to no VA in basically one scene transition its super jarring and completely changed the pacing.

Also why do we have to have Wuk Lamat, if we HAVE to have someone from Tuliyollal Koana is a much better fit.

7.0 was a steady start with some weird character direction and music choices. 7.1 offer a nice return of alliance raid and the awesome introduction to choatic raid. 7.2 did need to be better however and I think they exceeded expectation. The mechanics, music, and character design are just wow. Good job

Was this written by a different writer, or did Yoshida finally stop taking a vacation? I don’t think we’ll ever know the answer, but the production values are far higher in this patch than 7.1 and most of DT. What happened to all the people who said SE was never going to change things? Once again, Square Enix defies the will of the minority by making decent content. Will those people complain that Wukie isn’t getting screen time, or will they finally realize they were wrong?

Those final cutscenes definitely felt like setup for her to be a duty support for the 7.3 dungeon at the very least.

Well, if any of my past experiences with the game mean anything, this might be the best thing for him to do. So he steps up to us... we beat the living **** out of him until he drops to one HP... then we stand there, looking at him, open mouthed and fist clenched, while he holds a 10 minute speech, then takes the gadget from our pockets, and disappears laughing.

It's time the enemies learn the WoL's biggest weakness - zero resistance against cut scenes.

Better then 7.0/7.1 but given the bar was literally in hell, not that hard to beat. /shrug
