And Paypal supposedly does not share what country's card was used to do the purchase.

If you are able paypal can be used to buy Crysta which can be used to buy game time. I do not know if this would work for you but it might be worth having a look at. Since its an accepted way to pay by SE I don't see how its risky for you.

I would readily believe this is a colossal fuster cluck by SE and the new payment processor. I doubt very much there is a greater conspiracy. SE is really good at stumbling into fuster clucks as anyone that has been around awhile has seen.

I believe it will get fixed. How long it will take is a FAR bigger question

does amazon pay work for anyone? people say it work when buying crystal, but it doesn't too me

I would strongly suggest opening a ticket with Square Enix Account Management. I was able to get mine to work. I don't know exactly how, but I know others are still having issues. It's best to report it to SE so they can figure out what's wrong on their end.
