True strike. Most fun fight in the game imo. We go there regularly and tonight was the first time I've ever seen another party there so I guess it must be getting slightly more popular on Gungnir at least. Got weapons for my two favourite jobs tonight, love it when the shitty drop system pays off once in a blue moon!
I would love to do it again if not for:
a. Meld gear requirements.
b. A clear strategy, at least tank making garuda stay in 1 position most of the times so that the rest can have less time worrying to move into safer position. Especially important since latency issue still a big deal here. ;D
Plus, I really need to win this fight since I have more than 1 stack of Vortex Totem. :p
Our LS did one run before the patch and one after (10-15 tries total), got through the Aerial Blast three times on our second run and will try again this week. :)
Don't have any amazing gear, mostly just normal AF / single melds.
Setup on last try was 1 x WAR, 1 x WHM, 3 x BRD (omg stacking omg!), 1 x BLM, 1 x MNK, 1 x DRG. Trying different things and learning the different phases to see what works for us. :)
Lag aside, cause I think its more a scapegoat than a real issue most of the time.
What the funniest thing about this Garuda kaboom is that so many people thought the content of the game overall was TOO EASY. So the devs gave us a fight that was actually sort of difficult and people don't want to do it cause its TOO HARD. They just exploited the easy mode exploit and were done with it. It's more an issue of player laziness than anything, its not a thing the devs have done. Ppl would much rather do the easy-mode raids with poor drop rate gear than actually have to work on figuring out the strategy and challenge themselves with a more difficult fight.
Ppl got what they ask for and now they wont do it. So freakin frustrating. Im 1/7 weapons myself and would love to do this fight more but I cant get ppl for it either. Then if I actually do find enough ppl for a run, half of them don't know how to play their jobs cause they burned them from 1-40 and have no idea how the mechanics work. So irritating. Usually I just log out and log onto a different mmo where I can actually get shnizzit done.
The irony is that imo, Garuda is much easier once you've got it down than the other primals. I still think Ifrit is harder simply becuase at times it can be so frustrating. I'm sure we've all been so far out of the aruptions we may aswell be in uldah and STILL got him by them. There's nothing like that in Garuda, it's just plain good fun. Well, I thought the same about moogles, so perhaps I just hate Ifrit lol.
If you completely skip the second phase theres nothing like that... The second phase is bullshit for having to move and get to the correct spot and theres such a small window of opportunity to get to such a small safe area that half your party will probably end up taking 3000 damage to the face if they can't watch out for themselves and react appropriately. With ifrit you can actually count down for people who have never done the fight before and tell them where to stand and when to run and they can react on that, with garuda during the second phase half the time before you can even say to run shes already firing off mistral shriek.
Agreed. I can do ifrit in my sleep. Almost literally lol, there were times we were spamming him i was dozing mid-fight and still didnt die/take damage cause I knew where to stand. Granted I had to be somewhat coherent to avoid some of the attacks, but I was still more asleep than awake lol. Same with moogle, as a arc/brd main I knew my job well enough I could watch tv or make work calls and still do my job in the fight with absolute ease. The fights were ridiculously easy. Garuda is a different story but my current ls though has not found the key behind it and since it seems not really part of our event rotation we most probably wont. /sadface
