You called it a "polarizing" expansion, not me.
Maybe you mean it in terms of "No matter how illogical the story was set up you can still enjoy it to some degree or not, and thus there lies the polarizing aspect"?
Except even the lore surrounding dynamis is wonky. They say its tied to limit breaks now, yet in the past its always been classified as a combination of aether granted to you by your allies. If its purely dynamis, then the fact Elidibus and the ancient trusts in endwalker can use them causes some inconsistencies. If its a combination of the two, that even further complicates things as then im even further questioning how the ancients wouldnt have known about it for thousands of years.
I do not envy writers who are tasked with wrapping up and attempting to tie a bow on stories that go on for this long (like for almost a decade); I imagine it's probably one of the hardest types of stories to write endings for.
Looking back on it, there could have been a lot worse ways to write and conclude Zodiarks story, but giving him/it more attention probably would have not been a wise choice, so I'm glad they treated him more like a vehicle (a MacGuffin) to move the plot along.
If anything I'm relieved this story is over, because now they can begin writing something new that has no 1.0 baggage attached to it.
EW reminds me of FF9
You think final boss is Kuja? Nope, it's me, Necron, a giant space flea out of nowhere! I feel a strong wish of death (cuz Kuja wish to go down with a bang), and will respect his wish to bring doom to the mankind. However, since I'm generous, I will let you have a chance to struggle against your existential crisis!
Its a line during the Final Fight
But with the upcoming nature of the alliance raid im also very intrigued by

I mean i get it with Zodiark. We've been building ourselves up for this inevitable encounter, but it was meant to feel premature. We were just there to beat him back into his prison. He wasn't supposed to die.
Do i wish that Zodiark himself had some character development? Yes. However i suppose that is just bundled up with Elidibus, isn't it. Elidibus was his core, as Venat was Hydaelyn's. So we technically defeated Zodiark before we ever met him by defeating Elidibus. Fandaniel said that Zodiark in his present state was like a feral creature running on instinct at that point without Elidibus.
