White Mage: A Guide

It's amazing for nuking which you will have to do in some situations so I'd at least carry it around if you have access to it. I usually wear that if I'm doing stuff like spiritbonding or Ifrit/Moogles with my LS and I know no one will be taking any large amount of damage and have more freedom to nuke.

For tougher fights you will definitely want to stick with your AF body, though.

Which stat effects stone and wind spells? We know for blm fire and ice are magic attack, and thunder is int, but does anyone know for whm?

All attack magic spells are affected by INT and magic attack potency.

I love this post , But I don't know how that dude got close to 800 DEF. Need help please.

What post, and what dude? I looked at the OP and didn't see any mention of 800 defense.

Here's a few things to put that post into perspective.

1) He did not say his White Mage reached 800 defense, he merely said that any job becomes nigh unkillable at that level, not necessarily that he managed to get his WHM that high. To quote, he said "near ~800 defense", so we can assume he was referring to defense in the mid/high-700s.

2) That was posted way back in April, and things may have changed since then.

3) This one is the most telling. He says that he doesn't use La Noscean Toast because he gets more DEF from Acorn Cookies. This means that his base defense before food was somewhere between 500~600 defense (La Noscean Toast edges ahead of the cookie at 600 defense).

4) He may have been taking Protect into account. Is food affected by protect? My logic says no, but I've never actually looked.

Put all that together, and lets say he was at 580 base defense. Food would push him up to around 627, and protect would get him around 96, pushing him to 723ish defense. Don't forget that you can socket body/shield with defense. His video (two posts below that one) shows him wearing a meldable body/shield, so he's more than likely done that.

I hope that helps some. I don't know the guy, I'm just reading between the lines here and making some educated guesses.

Don't forget Rampart for an extra Defense boost for a minute every two minutes, also comes in handy against hordes :)
