I think the proper uses of the skill are few and far between but there, but even then the delay is so bad that you probably wont be successful if you're trying to prevent damage. I would rather it be changed to a teleport as Dzian suggested or removed and replaced by something that would get far more use like Protect from PvP, anything would be preferable to a toggle.
Why are people so against toggleing this skill? Seriously, outside of statics I have NEVER seen this skill save anyone, only killing them and/or (accidentally or purposely) caused them grief, and I can tell you that people will put this skill on when doing savage with their statics pretty much only having it off in DF where it 99% of the time is used in ways that actually makes matters worse. I know that healers in here are likely not doing so, But people who are active on forums are often above the average player in terms of investment and have often learned to use their abilities properly.
Only last night I used it to save a tank from meteor damage (and maybe death, not sure if it will kill a tank) during the first boss in Amaurot.
I've also used it countless times on DPS in Dohn Mheg to avoid being struck by toad. The biggest problems are the delay in execution, you don't get dragged to the exact point of the healer and that the rescued player, 9/10, will move away after being rescued and still getting hit/killed anyway.
I will concede, we had one kid who would use it to drag people down for lols in Titan Ex (during wondrous book clearances). I no longer play with them.
As for the subject at hand, it would be nice to be able to toggle it on or off, but the vast majority of players use it for good intentions and it would only frustrate healers who genuinely want to save someone's life.
If a healer had to choose between 2 characters to save because they had tunnel vision or something and couldn't use rescue on one of them and was too slow for the other one, you'd have 2 dead players as opposed to 1, it's not so good.
For me, I'm neither screaming out claiming we need this feature, nor am I dead against it. It's nice, but I personally won't use it.
I have never used rescue to save anyone tbh, it feels too slow for that.
But if a range is too far for AoE or a tank does not stay in my mitigation zone, I will rescue them.
Just gonna say that I've saved quite a few players with rescue.
Did Eden 4 with my friend which was his first time - he's a Tank.
On our 3rd run he stood in the wrong place and was going to die, so I rescued him and saved his life.
"Why'd you rescue me for??"
"Because you were standing on the wrong side derp face"
"oh .... Thanks"
Allow rescue and it's on a 2min cooldown. Just be glad that it cannot be used outside of combat.
Only time I use it is in DF when that one rdm or bard wants to be in china and out of my star when I'm an astro so I pull their a** inside it.
