That's what I do while leveling my lower jobs up. The exception being something like...

I'm level 17, I have a piece of gear that's a few levels lower, I can upgrade to something that I'll use for 2 levels(there are some gaps like this in the game), or upgrade to something 7 levels above me. I buy the thing that's 7 levels above me because the 2 levels of optimal is not worth the cost/space of a stepping stone set.

Basically what I'm getting at is I don't wear level 50 shit on my level 1-39 classes. I'll use something about ~7 levels, unless it's a weapon, then it's even level or lower.

actually not exactly true. some items do, but i will say a friend has the vintage scale mail and then dropped to lancer and has went from 1-35 and it still doesn't need repair. that is the type of stuff i would love to see gone hoenstly. if you wear higher level gear it should tear up super fast as a penalty, but i don't believe you should be able to repair an item unless you are close to rank.

I bought a lvl 22 armor on my Conj the day b4 servers went offline and it seemed to degrade pretty fast even though I was 7 lvls shy of optimal. I went from 15-18 and it went from 100-66% weapon went 100-23% both same lvl.

yeah some items deteriorate very fast. my fire brand even though i am only 3 lvls below the optimal i just started using it when i hit 40 and even though it's a 43 i can run 2 leves and then i gotta repair it. some items seem to never get damaged no matter what ya do to it. i was just saying some items are exceptions and those should be fixed.

Now that's a good point, but I think that has to do with resilience? Probably a neglected attribute on the gear when they recently changed the non-optimal gear degradation. While I agree, *that* specific instance should be fixed, I don't think it's fair to say it warrants the ability to not equip higher level gear. Good point though. :)

Maybe it has to do with Material? My wands (branches) break like no ones business even if I am in the right range. Whereas my Iron Maurader weapon needed to be fixed about... 4 times maybe less, from 35-40.

They also break down more if you are going against shelled mobs like crabs.

Thats kinda cool if that is truely how the system works, would explain why his scale mail got lightly scuffed in 34 lvls and my t-shirt got swiss cheesed in like 2 lvls. >.>

maybe, but why would a silver brand break down if it was not physically hitting anything that fast. just sayin some items you can run 30 levels on and never get gear damage, but some need it everytime you move. i think the repair rate on some should be lowered and some should increase.

Do you have a YG link to the item? Silver Brand isn't bringing anything to mind.
